Rolling back the years to when SERVICE meant something! Costa and Nero had better watch out because there is a new standard in town!

Sorry there will be no rating. Visiting Macclesfield today we decided to visit this Cafe for lunch…read more Eventually someone took our order and after a time a pot of tea and a coffee appeared. But sadly having sat and sat and sat and waited there was no sign of any food. The lady who had ordered prior to us also sat waiting until she had to leave and go back to work. No problem they just refunded her money and she left. Where I was sat was close to a telephone that rang, the girl that answered it then slammed it down so hard that I almost jumped out of my skin. I did speak to her about this. As our parking meter was paid for a certain length of time we inquired about our food, we were informed that they had been busy hence the delay. As a retired catering worker who has worked in busy kitchens at Heathrow I am sorry but they wouldn't know what busy was. We were told the food would be one minute. It arrived stone cold , except for the portion of chips that had been dropped back into the fat to heat them. My husband then spoke to one of the staff asked for his money back, I left him to deal with it as he is a gentler character than me, it was refunded, they were sorry but still charged for the beverages. No gesture of goodwill there then! Having visited Coffee Beans at Leek and also Buxton (now gone) and always had the best of service I am totally shocked at the way the staff at Macclesfield couldn't give a flying fig about your customers. Needless to say we will not be returning. Margaret Armitt

I popped out for lunch during work with a colleague and we were seated swiftly, despite another small queue!! I was surprised to see that even at Friday lunchtime this place was rammed with Mums and children, Grandparents, couples and so on..... We both had the broccoli and gorgonzola soup, served with fresh ciabatta bread which was spot on - it was creamy and really filling. We were served quickly, and the waitresses were polite and friendly. I'm not sure if this is a family-run business but it definitely had that feel about it. I also liked that they also made and sold local produce; it felt like this was one of the favourite local spots to grab a bite to eat.

The cafe has a warm inviting interior with a mixture of bench seating, for those who crave a more softer, comfortable seat, as well as classical wooden chairs. There is a raised seated area at the front of the cafe, by the window, which is always popular. The decor is simple, slick and easy on the eye. The food served ranges from breakfast bagels, toasted teacakes, toasted panini sandwiches, open sandwiches, salads, soup, cooked dishes, chips, to an assortment of mouth watering cakes, scones or even hot deserts, should you crave something hot. Herbal tea, along with Breakfast and Earl Grey are served daily. Traders Coffee, dark, rich and flavoursome is also served, with never ending top ups! If your pallet requires something extra, Traders also serve Lattes, Mocha's, Espressos, etc. Everything is prepared with great care and attention and the staff are well presented in a simple black trousers and white shirt uniform, classic, crisp and clean. Traders have and do cater for everyone, young, not so young and disabled people are always welcome. The toilets are up two flights of steps, so not suitable for a wheelchair user, but they are always clean and well maintained. They also have a notice board half way up the stairs showing local businesses, musical recitals, theatre productions, etc as well as providing several news papers to read if you so wish. The Traders Cafe is and always have been so popular in Macclesfield that during their lunch time period, 12:00 to 14:00, there is always a queue of hungry diners salivating at the delicious aromas of food coming from within, including myself!
