Truth be told I had fully intended having a good lunch inside Altringham market, as I was impressed by what I saw there yesterday: real food, fresh food, and properly cooked food, particularly at the funky looking Wolfhouse Kitchen. On the other side from it there's a pizza place with a wood fuelled pizza oven, again a very enticing foodie place. There's also a beer place, a wine place, a juice place and a coffee place inside. So I went back today, full of the joys, expectant, and it was packed out. Not a seat/table to be had, and as I was pushing a pram I'd have needed a reasonable amount of room, so it was not to be today. I noted in passing that some disabled folk may find it difficult to gain access to the indoor foodie place. I was pushing a pram up the ramp to the heavy doors to get in and I found it difficult to negotiate my way in and back out again. So back down the hill I went, steering the pram, and I walked along the town centre, past the busker who can't sing, until I came to this place. It had a claim that it's latte was 'prize winning'. So I thought let's test this. There was an extensive savoury and sweet menu but no croissants or choccy croissants (the resident of the pram favours these dainties) so it was fruit scones. What great scones and what a great price at about £1.55 for a good sized scone, jam and butter (certainly far better and better value than Druckers). So we parked up at an outside street table. The large latte was very good as was their large cappuccino at about £2.40 each. There's one toilet inside for males, females and disabled. The young staff are mega friendly. The wifi is completely free, it's very fast, it's hassle free with an easy to enter code; Costa please take note. read more
