It's always fun to go to a Rainiers game. You get to see some great talent and some guys working hard to make their dreams come true. It's a beautiful stadium and well maintained. Got there about an hour before game time and was able to secure parking. I noticed later that the parking lot all filled up rather quickly. This was for a Sunday game, so it was a large crowd. One tip that you may want to keep in mind... If you are going to a day game during the summer and don't wanna sit in full sun, try to find seats behind home plate. The first and third base sides of the field were in full sun for most of the game. Lots of different concessions and they had a large number of staff working each one to keep the crowd moving along. I tried Farrelli's pizza and it was great. Huge piece of pizza! Restrooms were kept clean throughout the game and plenty of security on hand to ensure that all patrons felt safe. All in all, this was a great afternoon and a great experience. I look forward to my next visit. read more

Such a fun stadium to watch a game? Employees are friendly and helpful and kind. Several went out of their way to speak to our grandson and make him feel Welcome and comfortable in the crowd. One complaint: the spectators to leave their trash and half-eaten meals on other chairs for people to dispose of for them. We had to clean our 3 chairs of trash before we could sit in them. Come to find out the trash was from the children of the parents sitting at the end of our row. They didn't even offer to clean up after their children. Fortunately, at the end of the game, the announcer asked everyone to recycle and toss trash, so I am hopeful that helped. Again, stadium staff are stellar and excitement filled the air! Honestly one of my favorite stadiums to visit. Staff has been nice, games are fun to watch, bar is never overcrowded, merch vendors are decently priced, food is okay, drinks are okay, but the vibes are always great. Parking lot can get full on weekends, but Fred Meyer and any other public parking spot allows you to park. Businesses will tow if you park at their lot during business hours though. We ate garlic friends and both a regular hot dog and a best hotdog. We order a soda and two beers. We purchased beer cozies and a hat. We had a sunny seat in section P but it was a beautiful day. Cheney stadium is one of the coolest spots in Tacoma. The stadium is big enough that you get the energy from being in a packed stadium but also small enough that pretty much no matter where you sit you are right by the action. You can walk up and purchase tickets same day for most games, but I would recommend buying in advance for weekend games. Tickets vary in price depending on the day of the week but usually it will be under 30$ and that's for a great seat, they have general admission to a grassy hill that you can throw a blanket on to watch and it's under 10$ (I recommend this for people with small kids because it's right next to the play area. The amenities include several food stalls, several beer stalls, a full bar, a team merchandise store, a kids play area with jungle gym, a waffle ball field for the kids and probably some other things I'm missing. This is a relatively cheap way to spend an afternoon and it's so much fun! read more

This was our first time at Cheney Stadium and first Rainiers game as well. My wife and I had never been but now we'd love to return as this place is pretty special. It is small compared to the Mariners' home field but it makes up a lot in accessibility and pricing. The traffic coming into the game was pretty bad and they could've used the police to direct traffic (they had the traffic police after the game but not before), but once we got into the parking lot, everything else was good. The seats were pretty nice as we were inside the 3rd baseline and had a commanding view. We walked around the stadium concourse to see what was offered and there were a lot of staff to help out and answer questions and a decent variety of food options including Ivars, Farrelli's Pizza, BBQ, Carnival Food and other options I probably missed. There was also a nice team store with loads of Rainier merch. I bought a bag o' peanuts and a Heidelberg beer. The Rainiers seem to offer a deal on every home game with themes like Seltzer Saturday, Farrelli's Pizza Family Four Pack offer and Bring the Herd among other specials. Each individual deal has a reserved seat, an exclusive hat or t-shirt, hot dog meal and a featured branded food or drink (e.g. Chik-Fil-A). First, on-site parking is $10 with Visa and Mastercard; AmEx isn't accepted. I was there about an hour and thirty minutes before the game. I didn't have a ticket, so I wanted to arrive early to get a ticket for a good seat. However, I was unaware you must go through security to reach the ticket window. No joke. The ticket booth/trailer is fenced off, and a fence door has a keypad only meant for employees. So, I asked someone working security, "Excuse me, do I have to wait in line just to get a ticket? Also, I'm Deaf, so please face me when answering; thanks." She replied, "Yes, stand in that line," pointing to the growing line to enter the stadium. I can't imagine the team having a promotion (e.g., hat giveaway, bobblehead, etc.) missing out because you have to stand in a line before making it to the ticket window. Most of those giveaways are sold out, so the only option is to get a ticket online; still, I've been to over thirty-three ballparks, and this is the first time I have encountered this issue. Next, the team store is typical for a Triple-A baseball club. The prices were manageable, and they had a good selection of hats, shirts, and other items. I had eaten right before arriving at the ballpark. Although it smelled and looked pretty good, I didn't get any food. Also, they have a lot of steps at this ballpark. I don't know if there was a better entrance with fewer steps, but it took a toll as the night went on. I would come again and be better prepared the next time. read more

First the runaround to get the bonuses that came with the package deal I ended up paying 87 dollars for 4 of us to watch a game was a hassle. But then even more more annoying to find out it comes with these measly little hotdogs. I was under the impression since it was called a Farelli's pizza family fun pack, that we'd be getting a slice of pizza with our ticket. My bad to assume such a thing but no where online did it mention that. I would've been more ok with it if we were able to bring our own snacks in, but nope they don't allow any outside food or drink which makes it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to afford and fully enjoy going to a game!! It seemed like one of us was constantly getting up to get more overpriced food or drinks at the concession stand, missing the game. What happened to the guys that would walk up and down in the stands selling stuff? Then to top it off the condiments were ALL out by the 5th inning and the whole condiment area was a disgusting mess! I have been wanting to go to Cheney Stadium almost since I first moved to Tacoma. It is indeed geared for sports but there are other types of events as well from time to time. Cheney Stadium often made it's presence known over the years with it's fireworks shows and you can hear them neighborhoods away in the city. I finally made it here a few weeks ago for a Team Building event and could finally scratch the stadium off my list. We went here for a baseball game. Truth be told sports aren't where my primary interests lie (insert emoji with a nervous smile and sweat running down forehead) but the event was good to socialize even though I had wasn't doing a good job keeping track as to who was winning. We reserved the lounge there and watched the game along with hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches. The lounge was a great choice for the team building event even though there was a little hassle with the ticketing in order to get in. Parking was neat and orderly going in but was difficult to get out after the game with all of the congestion and people were hopping curbs and cutting corners any way they could in order to leave and get to the single exit for most of the traffic. That's kind of a thing I discovered this year with major or larger venues in the Seattle metro area. Smooth going in but very tedious getting out. read more

Cheney Stadium was really enjoyable for my family and I to spend time together and watch the Rainier's play. The stadium is cashless and parking is $10 or you can park across the street for free. Before entering they searched our bags and there are signs posted saying clear bags only, but they searched and let others in with non clear bags. Anyways.. the inside of the stadium is clean and there's a lot of different food/drink vendors to choose from. There's also a playground area for kids which was really nice because we did arrive an hour before the game started. The restrooms were clean during the times we went also which was great. Overall: fun experience and we plan on going to another game in the future. The tickets are reasonably priced and no matter where you sit in the stadium you'll have a good view. We went to Cheney Stadium for our daughter's elementary school night. It's really nice there. It was a little confusing at first because I had looked online and thought I knew where to park, but one of our friends got there earlier and said that the lot was full. Luckily, we were able to find a lot to park off of Tyler Street. Parking was $10, so reasonable. The lines moved quickly and people were friendly. I wasn't totally expecting the food and drinks to be standard stadium prices, as it is a Minor League baseball Stadium, but aside from that, everything went smoothly and we had a good time! read more

Just to let you know that this review is based on the fact we watched the Sounders (soccer team) play on a baseball field. It was definitely odd watching a soccer game on. Baseball field because now the stadium is built, it just isn't soccer fan frjendly. The front seats are already far from the part of the field they had sectioned off for the soccer game so sitting further backs puts you further from the field. Then you have to watch through the netting that is useful for baseball games, but no so much for soccer games. The seat that I was assigned was in this awkward edge/corner seat where I constantly had to get up and out of my seat to let people seated in the rows below me in and out. I literally felt like a bouncer, but definitely got to get to know my seat neighbors a whole lot better through that. Getting out of the parking lot was such a headache after the game since there was really only one exit out of the lot to the main Street toward the freeway we needed to catch. And I ended up losing my patience a bit with three older dudes that kept playing frisbee and ended up hitting our car three times while we were trapped in the line to get out of the lot. read more

Cheney Stadium is a great family outing for a minor league game. They have an established code of conduct that makes it a safe venue to brings kids. If you're buying tickets for a summer evening game, I want to warn that sections M, N, O and P all get late day sun, even well into the 7 o clock hour. Luckily, it seems like sometimes games are low attendance enough that you should be able to find nearby seats if the ones you're in are too uncomfortable. we were able to sit somewhere else so that we could enjoy the evening. I was surprised with how many food options there were. I went with the hand dipped corn dog because I love them. I was a little bummed with it though cause the batter didn't have that sweet cornmeal taste. it ended up being kinda bland. Next time, I'll look at the other food options. I think I saw a chopped beef sandwich that looked good. There are two parking entrance for Cheney stadium. Clay Huntington Way gets you closer to 3rd base and Tyler St gets you closer to home plate and 1st base. Parking is probably better on the Tyler St side. Parking was $10. read more

I love baseball but we did not have a good experience at the game yesterday 7/30. We arrived 30 minutes before game time. Waited in parking line to learn that the lot was full for general parking. Attendant sent us to an overflow that was on the other side of the highway from the stadium. No directions on how to get to stadium. The lot was a city trail lot. Made our way in to find that our seats were taken. The seats are very close together. No going thru rows and limited space in the aisle in the upper section. Can u say safety issue? Long hair flying around by food server, no ushers. Ok so now I'm getting picky but the only thing that saved the day was a park employee that sat with us outside the stadium and told us baseball stories. read more

I'm a season ticket holder for the Rainiers, so I'd say I know this stadium just about as good as anyone else. The stadium itself is nice and well equipped. Never a bar (or bathroom) too far away. Food is decent and reasonably priced. Beer selection is pretty great. And no, there's no fucking garbage Rainier beer here. It has been awhile since I have caught a game at the stadium and the first time inside since the remodel. I was impressed by the addition of real places to eat, The Red Hot; one of my favorite places in Tacoma, Ivars, Kid Valley burgers and a few other places that add to the genuine feel of the place. Overall the place looks great inside!! I have had a tour of the premium seats and boxes, if you have the cash and are a big ball fan, then this is a great place for you. For me the general seats are fine, quick to get out and to the restrooms or food stands and not a bad seat in the place, plus the prices are better than Seattle. Some complain that the roof only covers the premium seats, but I grew up in Cleveland where it rains about as much as Tacoma and we also get snow or a lot of it. So sitting out in the elements is the sign of a true sports fan. Parking could be an issue if you get there late and I don't know how parking is viewed in the Fred Meyers lot. I would assume you would get ticketed or worse towed and you definitely don't want to park south of the stadium since it can be a sketchy area. Thankful I had a summit pass from a friend and was able to quickly find parking. A few other of my friends showed up early and tail-gated in the lot, probably a better idea all together. Overall a great place to catch some baseball as the Rainiers are the AAA team for the Mariners so these guys are great. The location of the stadium is very good, easy to get to and out of, great fireworks, and even better food and craft beers and again the price. If you have not been it is definitely worth checking them out. read more

Ok night out. Unfriendly food staff workers, unwillingness to provide a vegetarian alternative with a prepaid team ticket that came with a hot dog. Talked to the manager of the ball field who said he would come find us with a voucher but he flaked out and fell through with zero explanation. When I found him he didn't seem too bothered nor made any effort to give my family of four an alternative. We went hungry rather than pay the unfriendlies twice for dinner. Second time here and the atmosphere and staff didn't feel friendly or warm. The one exception was the woman with the exceptional beer selection (hence the extra star). Won't be returning which is unfortunate cos we love soccer and OK Reign but the stadium didn't feel like a good place to be and the staff didn't have good customer service. read more

I absolutely love coming here for Rainier games! I like it even more than I like going to any Mariners game... The whole entire place is extremely clean. Probably because it's small and not as crowded, but it's very clean! The bathrooms are tidy, there's not anything littering the floors, and the tables are cleaned. It's a nice change from most sporting events where everything is sticky and nasty. My stepdad works for a company that sponsors the Rainiers so he gets invited to the party deck, which is where we hung out. We got free food and beer/wine all night, which is ALWAYS okay in my book. The woman who was handing out all the alcohol was super nice and actually wanted to get to know you, whereas the teenagers running the food station were a little more interested in each other than doing their job if you know what I'm saying hmmmm. The food wasn't that great - but hey. It's free and it's baseball food, so I wasn't going to complain. Overall, even if you're not on the party deck and going to sit in the main area, it's an awesome idea for a date or for hanging out with family. You guys, this may be a minor league team, but this stadium is in the majors!!! The food choices were huge! Pizza, wings, cookies, icecream, tacos, burgers, hot dogs, and mutliple beer and drink vendors. We missed the funnel cakes, but they had them! I came to influencer night and got to try anything I wanted, so we tried a lot! Felt like celebrities, seats with a great view, access to all the member spots, and a standing area that had a fire for warmth on cool nights. There were mutliple private locations for parties and business. The field was well kept and maintained while we were there as well. They had an amazing playground for the kids with a baseball diamond to play on too! Felt like a super cool Sandlot vibe. My girls love that movie. And all the little boys grouped together to make teams and play while we were there. It was nice to see it used as more than pretend. This stadium was packed with adoring local fans, this team is so loved. We got fun team gear to sport around town and we cant wait to come back. Great family friendly experience. Very nice but what got us confused is why they're playin tons of Latin music and words? Just really awkward as we were the only one thinking that. On the quest to retain the Bestest Aunt in the Whole Wide World title and to wear out my nephews I took them down to Tacoma to see a Tacoma Rainer's game. The cool thing was that the Tacoma Rainer's were playing the Portland Beavers which is San Diego's AAA team so not only did they get to see their first AAA baseball game they also go to see some of the Padre's players up close and personal. Unfortunately for me my favorite player, Hiram Bocachica he had been brought up to the majors prior to the game we went to see. The stadium is small and reminds me of a community college baseball field but all seats were good and cheap and Friday nights they have fireworks after the game. The restrooms aren't the cleanest or warmest but they do have them and they aren't port-a-potties. If you are ever looking for something fun to do down in Tacoma I say check out a Rainer's games they are fun and cheap and a good time for any baseball fan young and old. read more
