We like the mother ship in Bedford, but this Bow location does not come close. Service was okay at best, not great as has always been the case in Bedford, Food was similar, but without the great presentation that we've come to expect from the Bedford location. Worst of all is that this place is dirty: bathroom, vinyl under layer of the table covers, floors, plates, etc. This location is like a typical Chinese hole in the wall that are all over New England, but with the higher Chen Yang Li prices. If you want to try Chen Yang Li, take the 20 minutes drive down the highway to the Bedford location. By the way, we took home the leftovers consisting of the remains of our two entrees and rice - we finished the app. Today I discovered both entrees (very different from each other) where piled on top of each other in one box and the rice was in a smaller box. read more

I actually love this restaurant but the service there last night was TERRIBLE. It was very clear our party of 7 was not welcome and we were being rushed out. The manager(?) kept circling us like a vulture, very obviously walking over to us and peering at us with a exasperated look on his face. The waitress just walked away from the table while one of the guests was speaking to her to ask her a question. I was so pleased to happen upon this restaurant (well, thanks to Yelp that is) which was just lovely. The area where it is located is right off a freeway and a few miles from the nearest small town so did not lend itself to many dining possibilities. Well, this place certainly filled the void with an extensive Asian fusion menu of Chinese, Thai and Japanese fare. I think every picky eater and those with any kind of dietary restriction could easily find something on the 10+ page menu. The service was efficient, the decor was old-school yet spacious and the food was up to snuff. Should I find myself in Bow, NH again in the future, I would surely revisit Chen Yang Li. read more

Food is fine. Service is terrible. Order take-out and they say it will be 15-20 minutes and it is over well an hour. Then they offer nothing to make up for it. Wanted a quick take out dinner my first night and town and this place was across form the hotel. I ordered some soup and an entree. My order was finished quickly and the staff was friendly. The soup was delicious, but the Szechuan tofu was a bit boring. Overall a decent dinner. read more

I arrived around 7:30 pm and the place wasn't busy. Took a while to get seated. The waitress wasn't the friendliest and unfortunately I could not understand her when I asked about the menu. Could have just been me. I ordered a beer and the glass she brought me was dirty. I unwrapped my napkin and my fork was dirty. Sushi appetizer was fresh and ample. Amazing Chicken was amazing! Sauce is sweet and mildly spiced, a delicate mix of flavors.

Stopped in and ordered take-out today. They told me it would take 20 minutes but it was more like 15. I ordered spare ribs appetizer, amazing chicken, and beef mongorian (is that a misspelling on the menu? I don't know). The spare ribs were very good quality, tender and plenty of meat (they are boneless). The amazing chicken tastes wonderful. The vegetables are crisp and not over-cooked. I love the beef mongorian. It came with a container of brown rice (excellent), two egg rolls (pretty good), sauces and condiments. And 2 chocolate fortune cookies. I haven't been to the Bedford location but I thought it was excellent Chinese food for this area and we will definitely be back! We ordered a bunch of food for a family dinner. Overall I think that they have very good food. We ordered a Pu-pu platter, chicken fried rice, pork fried rice, Lo-Mein, General Taos's Chicken, California Roll and Spicy Tuna roll. We ordered the Maki rolls to test the sushi and we will be back to try other rolls. The Chinese food was also very good. I thought I had ordered enough food for the 8 adults and 2 children, and there was just enough with no left over's. I would have liked the Pu-Pu for 4 to have a little more food but next time I will know to order more. We also didn't receive enough fortune cookies for everyone. The price is reasonable, it was about $10 per person, but again we could have ordered a little bit more to have leftovers. We had one family member with a seafood allergy and they were very accommodating. They used fresh oil and separated the seafood items from the non-seafood items. There was no issue with an allergic reaction (which is rare) so we know they did an excellent job and took care on separating the items. She did mention that she wasn't fond of the chicken fried rice because it seems like the chicken was boiled, but I am thinking it was because they took care to ensure it did not come in contact with any fish. The pork fried rice was very good. The fried items were all crispy and were excellent. The pork strips were not fatty. They also made the General Tsao Chicken with white meat and it was excellent. This place is a good neighborhood joint. We order take-out all the time, and occasionally dine in. The downstairs bar is sketchy as it gets. This place is a joke. Web site prices don't match what you wind-up paying for PuPu is 3 bucks more and everything else is at least a buck or two. UPDATE the website! Also no customer service. I ordered take out on 2/16 and drove about 10 miles in a snow storm and they gave me the wrong order even though an American speaking young lady took the order and said she could substitute items. When I got home.... You guessed it no substitution. I called and complained and the clown Manager said he would refund me $3.00. Seriously? hi, have had good experiences with CYL restaurant with both take-out and dining until yesterday. I placed a decent size take-out order($100+). The fried chicken wings seemed old, dry, and twice fried. Inedible. The fried rice and lo-mein were dry as well. Definitely not fresh made. I think the majority of my order was leftovers from lunch. I travel 40 minutes to go to CYL even though there's a Chinese restaurant 15 minutes from me because I enjoyed CYL's consistent quality. Not sure where this goes from here. Mike read more

Once my Chinese food go-to, I was disappointed to find that the quality of this business has declined upon eating in the restaurant for the first time in a year. I knew something was off from the moment my friend and I were being seated and I inhaled a small fly. I ordered the pork dumplings and tangerine chicken. When my appetizer arrived something was peculiar. The item on the menu guaranteed 6 spicy dumplings and my plate had 12 sechuan-covered nuggets that looked suspiciously like testicles when I dissected them. I was informed they were pork. When my main course arrived the fried rice warned my palate that it had been reheated in a microwave, and the chicken had the appearance and consistency of deep-fried bacon strips. Had the WORST bartender service. Was greated by "what do you want", had to ask for menues, boxes, etc. The bartender was texting and not paying attention to any guests. I always choose the takeout option, unless I enjoy a few beers. The food here is some of the best Chinese food I have had (definitely the best egg rolls). I consider this high praise since I used to live in Jersey and New York where Chinese food competition is steep. I don't eat Sushi, so can not elaborate on that. I have never in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant! DO NOT go here. They act like they've closed HOURS before they have and are extremely rude to you. This is our favorite "go-to" restaurant, half-way between Boston and central Vermont, the perfect stop for hungry and bored travelers! The Chinese food is awesome, the sushi is super fresh, and there is never a wait. Typical, but nice atmosphere.
