We like the mother ship in Bedford, but this Bow location does not come close. Service was okay at best, not great as has always been the case in Bedford, Food was similar, but without the great presentation that we've come to expect from the Bedford location. Worst of all is that this place is dirty: bathroom, vinyl under layer of the table covers, floors, plates, etc. This location is like a typical Chinese hole in the wall that are all over New England, but with the higher Chen Yang Li prices. If you want to try Chen Yang Li, take the 20 minutes drive down the highway to the Bedford location. By the way, we took home the leftovers consisting of the remains of our two entrees and rice - we finished the app. Today I discovered both entrees (very different from each other) where piled on top of each other in one box and the rice was in a smaller box. read more

I actually love this restaurant but the service there last night was TERRIBLE. It was very clear our party of 7 was not welcome and we were being rushed out. The manager(?) kept circling us like a vulture, very obviously walking over to us and peering at us with a exasperated look on his face. The waitress just walked away from the table while one of the guests was speaking to her to ask her a question. After a very uncomfortable meal, we exited the restaurant at 11 to see that the dining room was open until 11. The staff gave us the impression that they had already closed. read more

A couple of us went here. ... I am from out of town. The Bartender was fantastic! The teriyaki chicken, yummy. The food went downhill after the first drink..... Steamed dumplings, doughy and tough. The entrees : crispy sesame chicken and tangarine beef; served with fried rice - rancid $ Stale, Dry, inedible. Bartender +10 Food: go somewhere else! read more

I was so pleased to happen upon this restaurant (well, thanks to Yelp that is) which was just lovely. The area where it is located is right off a freeway and a few miles from the nearest small town so did not lend itself to many dining possibilities. Well, this place certainly filled the void with an extensive Asian fusion menu of Chinese, Thai and Japanese fare. I think every picky eater and those with any kind of dietary restriction could easily find something on the 10+ page menu. The service was efficient, the decor was old-school yet spacious and the food was up to snuff. Should I find myself in Bow, NH again in the future, I would surely revisit Chen Yang Li. read more

I like this place although i don't think it deserves 5 stars as i'am a boston chinese food fan! But i'm a transplant out here now so i must suffer sometimes(lucky me). The dishes are okay my favorite is probably having the combo-sushibar with asian food a popular twist these dayz. Most dishes i tasted are decent although my family and i rather eat in than takeout have noticed the food tast diffrently.. I only like dealing with one waiter i call my favorite when i arrive he gets my dishes out quick and gets tipped good so i get smiles upon leavin.. unlike the diner below... read more

Food is fine. Service is terrible. Order take-out and they say it will be 15-20 minutes and it is over well an hour. Then they offer nothing to make up for it. There were people waiting for food for over an hour and you act like we should be grateful for it? Is Bow so desperate? Cheng yeng Li needs to do better. read more

Wanted a quick take out dinner my first night and town and this place was across form the hotel. I ordered some soup and an entree. My order was finished quickly and the staff was friendly. The soup was delicious, but the Szechuan tofu was a bit boring. Overall a decent dinner. read more

The restaurant is clean and staff are attentive. The chef is very accommodating. I did not see Kung Pao chicken on the menu. I was able to request it and it was made. The food is not gourmet by any means. The rice is super greedy and the chicken can be fatty. It did hit the spot though and left me full. read more

Good Mai Tais. Waiter Steve guided me to the perfect dish (filet of beef). A great choice if you're staying at the Hampton Inn across the street. read more

ordered takeout last night at this restaurant and was extremely disappointed two simple meals but probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had in Concord to add insult to injury the prices were significantly higher than other Chinese restaurants in the area The final insult was the staff was very unfriendly and they forgot the white rice! it's the last time I'll ever go to this restaurant read more

I arrived around 7:30 pm and the place wasn't busy. Took a while to get seated. The waitress wasn't the friendliest and unfortunately I could not understand her when I asked about the menu. Could have just been me. I ordered a beer and the glass she brought me was dirty. I unwrapped my napkin and my fork was dirty. The General TSO chicken I ordered was really sweet and tasted like it was microwaved. The plus side was that the beer was cold and the atmosphere was nice. read more

Not expecting too much for this local Chinese restaurant, but the food was fairly good, standard Chinese fare. They also offered sushi. service was quick and pleasant. Nothing special, but convenient and pretty good. I still want to know why fortune cookies no longer typically contain fortunes...more commentary style... read more

So I'm posting this before we eat, and with the additional caveat that is Christmas day... But we're already disappointed with the place. Service is slow - there's tons of staff, and only a few actual patrons. When they do talk to you, they're not very friendly. And the place is dirty. We're sitting at a table near a POS system, and there's dishes with old food next to it along with a box of noodles someone is working on. Not read more

Chen Yang Li Restaurant - Left over food hanging around... Ew! - Chinese Near Me - Bow, New Hampshire

See all

It was a way better than Chinese take out. The value for the price was pretty good. Did not try the sushi because the menu was limited in comparison to what we are use to. read more

I thought it was a nice place. The food was OK. However, my server was great. Very attentive. I'm a sucker for good service. Probably closer to 3 stars if just food alone. Bar crowd was a little shady so I stayed away. read more

i love chen yang li! i live right down the street and have been ordering from them for 10+ years. their food is always consistent and delicious. i always order the veggie fried rice, miso soup and avo/cucumber rolls. i saw that their reviews aren't the best and wanted to give them a good rating bc they deserve it and i've always been satisfied with my order. food comes out quick and friendly staff! thank you! read more

This is our favorite "go-to" restaurant, half-way between Boston and central Vermont, the perfect stop for hungry and bored travelers! The Chinese food is awesome, the sushi is super fresh, and there is never a wait. Typical, but nice atmosphere. Go for lunch and you'll get the same food, but for less with their combination luncheon specials (11:30am-3pm). They also have a nice array of healthier selections, too. read more

Sushi appetizer was fresh and ample. Amazing Chicken was amazing! Sauce is sweet and mildly spiced, a delicate mix of flavors.

Stopped in and ordered take-out today. They told me it would take 20 minutes but it was more like 15. I ordered spare ribs appetizer, amazing chicken, and beef mongorian (is that a misspelling on the menu? I don't know). The spare ribs were very good quality, tender and plenty of meat (they are boneless). The amazing chicken tastes wonderful. The vegetables are crisp and not over-cooked. I love the beef mongorian. It came with a container of brown rice (excellent), two egg rolls (pretty good), sauces and condiments. And 2 chocolate fortune cookies. I haven't been to the Bedford location but I thought it was excellent Chinese food for this area and we will definitely be back! I did not try the sushi yet or visit the bar so no knowledge of the wine offerings. read more

We ordered a bunch of food for a family dinner. Overall I think that they have very good food. We ordered a Pu-pu platter, chicken fried rice, pork fried rice, Lo-Mein, General Taos's Chicken, California Roll and Spicy Tuna roll. We ordered the Maki rolls to test the sushi and we will be back to try other rolls. The Chinese food was also very good. I thought I had ordered enough food for the 8 adults and 2 children, and there was just enough with no left over's. I would have liked the Pu-Pu for 4 to have a little more food but next time I will know to order more. We also didn't receive enough fortune cookies for everyone. The price is reasonable, it was about $10 per person, but again we could have ordered a little bit more to have leftovers. We had one family member with a seafood allergy and they were very accommodating. They used fresh oil and separated the seafood items from the non-seafood items. There was no issue with an allergic reaction (which is rare) so we know they did an excellent job and took care on separating the items. She did mention that she wasn't fond of the chicken fried rice because it seems like the chicken was boiled, but I am thinking it was because they took care to ensure it did not come in contact with any fish. The pork fried rice was very good. The fried items were all crispy and were excellent. The pork strips were not fatty. They also made the General Tsao Chicken with white meat and it was excellent. I would recommend and I plan to go back! read more

Stopped by here on a recommendation from Hampton Inn across the street. The food was awesome! Recommend the Princess Soup - big enough for a meal. Highly recommend to anyone. read more

This place is a joke. Web site prices don't match what you wind-up paying for PuPu is 3 bucks more and everything else is at least a buck or two. UPDATE the website! Also no customer service. I ordered take out on 2/16 and drove about 10 miles in a snow storm and they gave me the wrong order even though an American speaking young lady took the order and said she could substitute items. When I got home.... You guessed it no substitution. I called and complained and the clown Manager said he would refund me $3.00. Seriously? Nothing got lost in the translation and she said I could have what I wanted. In summary: Overpriced for Chinese food Food is average at best - I've had better and worse! Management clueless. No wonder the cops are there every weekend dealing with drunks in the Bar. Read the Police logs read more

hi, have had good experiences with CYL restaurant with both take-out and dining until yesterday. I placed a decent size take-out order($100+). The fried chicken wings seemed old, dry, and twice fried. Inedible. The fried rice and lo-mein were dry as well. Definitely not fresh made. I think the majority of my order was leftovers from lunch. I travel 40 minutes to go to CYL even though there's a Chinese restaurant 15 minutes from me because I enjoyed CYL's consistent quality. Not sure where this goes from here. Mike read more

Great food, and excellent service! We'll be back for sure. The waitstaff was fabulous, and the steamed dumplings are especially tasy!!

A conundrum. I don't know, four stars for very good chinese, or maybe, five stars, for the fact that they never, ever let you down. It's our go to place for a quick meal out. Fast service, excellent staff, tasty food, and rock solid dependable. read more

This place is a good neighborhood joint. We order take-out all the time, and occasionally dine in. The downstairs bar is sketchy as it gets. It could be well served to be renovated, decluttered, and dusted... lots of dust. Clearly the bar is a money-maker on autopilot which is a shame. It could be nicer. read more

Yes cockroach on wife's dirty dish that was on table when food arrived . ' food was good after digesting visual item

Upon completion of my last bite of sushi and sip of beer, a pregnant cockroach strolled across sushi bar right in front of me. Waiter nonchalantly killed with his hand and went right back dinner he was eating. So bummed I ate here right now. Beware. read more

Once my Chinese food go-to, I was disappointed to find that the quality of this business has declined upon eating in the restaurant for the first time in a year. I knew something was off from the moment my friend and I were being seated and I inhaled a small fly. I ordered the pork dumplings and tangerine chicken. When my appetizer arrived something was peculiar. The item on the menu guaranteed 6 spicy dumplings and my plate had 12 sechuan-covered nuggets that looked suspiciously like testicles when I dissected them. I was informed they were pork. When my main course arrived the fried rice warned my palate that it had been reheated in a microwave, and the chicken had the appearance and consistency of deep-fried bacon strips. Probably should have ordered a recommended dish or the duck, but that was HANDS DOWN the lousiest $25 dollars I have spent on a meal. read more

Gotta say, this place was a real surprise in the middle of NH. Food was very tasty, portions were generous, service was great and drinks were yummy. I'd definitely recommend checking it out. Phoenix Soong is the best Larb Jai I have had, ever!!

I always choose the takeout option, unless I enjoy a few beers. The food here is some of the best Chinese food I have had (definitely the best egg rolls). I consider this high praise since I used to live in Jersey and New York where Chinese food competition is steep. I don't eat Sushi, so can not elaborate on that. The restaurant itself is nice, with decent bar down stairs. Only negative is the food can be on the pricey food side, but in this case, the saying you get what you pay for holds true. read more

Been several times and also had take out lots. Always a reliable place to go and one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Food is always tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. Their cocktails are pretty good also, especially the Mai Thai. A very good go to place for decent food with a decent atmosphere. read more

Good Chinese food. Liked the tri star seafood and chicken. Also enjoyed the steamed chicken and veggies for a healthy dish. Nice patio overlooking a creek. Unfortunately, the patio doesn't open till 4, so you can't go for lunch. read more

They get our take-out order wrong more often than they get it right. If the food wasn't so good and the location so close we wouldn't use them anymore. I think this was the 8th time it was wrong. I always check the bag before I leave, but I wasn't the one to pick it up this time. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE!-hostess has zero personality-the waitress threw my napkin on the menu while I was reading it..she leaned across the table a couple times instead of going around. Got all 3 sodas wrong. I received the wrong rice with my OVER PRICED lunch plate. She never came back to ask how everything was or to check our empty drinks..brought the check while we were still eating! Food was just so-so. NOT RETURNING. read more

First time back herein years. Food and service fantastic Better than I remember will be back again soon. Thanks to all.

Where to begin... don't advertise hours to 11 pm and start treating people like they're a nuisance and you don't want them there at 9:30. I have never in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant! DO NOT go here. They act like they've closed HOURS before they have and are extremely rude to you. We were seated and then told "The kitchen staff is on dinner break... this will take a while..." and then made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable the entire time. Horrible service. I ordered the mixed vegetables and it was disgusting and inedible. I would never go there again. EVER. Don't waste your time and money. Go elsewhere. read more
