Dear Rust medical Center Patient Relations Department,…read more I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the care I received during my visit on 11/05/2025 at your hospital. I was referred by my car insurance and my physical therapist to receive an MRI due to ongoing symptoms after my accident. During my visit, I reported experiencing numbness down my arm and leg and occasional loss of bladder control -- symptoms that are serious and potentially neurological. Despite clearly explaining this to both the attending doctor and the head nurse, I was told that my condition was not considered an emergency and that I should follow up with an outside doctor. I waited approximately six hours to be seen, only to be dismissed without any imaging or further evaluation. When I expressed my concerns to the head nurse, I was told there was nothing he could do. I was given a steroid injection and some pain medication, and afterward, I was told the steroid could raise my blood sugar levels. I am prediabetic and currently taking medication to manage my blood sugar, yet no one checked or monitored my glucose before or after administering these medications. This was concerning and felt careless, especially given my medical condition. I left the hospital feeling disregarded, frustrated, and worried for my health. The lack of urgency, communication, and attention to my symptoms and medical background was unacceptable. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated and that I receive a response explaining why my symptoms and referral were not taken seriously, and why medications with known risks were administered without proper consideration or follow-up. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward

I really, really wanted to get my family's medical care in Corrales since we live in Corrales and I…read moregave Dr. Thal the benefit of the doubt so, so many times... But her medical practice is not patient-centered, it is Dr. Thal-centered. She does not respect her patient's time or schedule, only her preference for doing things. She is on auto pilot. I have a really busy schedule and have told her I cannot have a one-and-a-half-hour wellness check, yet she insists I stay the whole time, sit there, and listen to the same schpiel every single time. Word for word. I could recite it back to her. And it is not tailored to me. My 17-year-old daughter is told the same exact things. It has become a joke in our family. She refused to shorten the visit and got angry with me when I told her I only had half an hour once. With all this time spent, you would think she would know my medical history and me like the back of her hand, but she absolutely does not. Or at least she would have time to find answers or suggestions with helpful direction whenever we come to her with questions, because we are paying her an extra concierge fee on top of health insurance and co-pays, but she definitely does not. And the one time I did have an out of the norm issue at an appointment she talked me out of doing anything about it because she was sure it was nothing and IT WOULD TAKE A LONG TIME.

HOWEVER, I was recommended here by my sister in law, and I've been there a couple of times and they all seemed really nice to me and they've answered me when I call or called back when I leave a voicemail so idk what all those people are talking about, I know that their hours I very inconvenient and these people probably called while they were closed and that's why no one answered but idk I'm not that person ‍. Regardless they all tried to handle my needs as best they can based on what symptoms I explained and expressed concerns about my only problem is with pricing because I don't make a lot of money and have a hard time saving enough money to pay for things like this but that could go for any doctors office. But so far they're not like Presbyterian where your doctor says your bi-yearly check up can be done over the phone, so you do that and pay for it and then in a few months or the next year they want you to come in person or else you're not allowed to have your prescription for your rescue inhaler, as if your asthma having status has changed even though you still need it when you have an asthma attack. They are not an ER so don't expect them to just take you in on the spot without an appointment. They're open 8-5 Monday - Thursday and they're closed for lunch hour (12-1) last I knew of.

I ended up having complications but they were nothing that could have been predicted nor prevented by the doctor nor the staff. I am an especially hard stick when it comes to my IV lately and am waiting on a port. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Chen, was able to assist with an IV in my wrist. It was painful yet very affective and got the job done! Dr. Saad, the GI specialist performing my EGD, was not very friendly nor did he explain the results. Instead I vaguely remember him giving the info to the nurse to give to me when I woke up so he could leave. I remember waking up and wanting to be like, "It's okay to talk to me. I'm not scary. I'm just a person too." But he still did a great job and I appreciate his work!

I received tremendous care and guidance by first-rate therapists who sincerely cared about my recovery and worked with me to accomplish all my/their goals. My surgeon moved to Santa Fe and another hospital system but I'm planning on having him perform my otherTKR in early 2024. I'll be returning to Southern for my PT, no doubt about it! And I'm headed back to Southern shortly for neurological PT to help with my neuropathy-causing falls. I'm confidant I'll receive the same exemplary clinical care. If you require physical therapy, please consider this group. A great group of skilled, kind clinicians that I cannot recommend more highly.
