I took two Chefs Inn virgins to lunch yesterday. One, my best friend that just moved back to Jonesboro after traveling the world for 45 years. The other, a lady that we grew up with and hadn't seen in 51 years. The last time that my friends were in this location, they were buying shoes from Mr. Gordon. The buffet line was magnificent as always. Beautiful, hot, delicious food. After filling up their plates, we sat down and that's when it happened. Tears. Yes tears. We sat there talking about how much this food reminded us of our mom's and grandma's cooking. Everyone got what they wanted and not a bad word about the food at all. Chicken, wonderful. Good food with southern taste! Service is tip top and they are always bringing out fresh, hot food. I do suggest getting a sweet tea opposed to water, had a "water faucet" taste to it. FREE WIFI!!!!! :D I didnt have to talk to a manager. I didnt have to type in a password or buy a single thing. Amazing home cooked type food - I grew up in the country on down home cooked fare and highly recommend this restaurant. Lots of meat choices, excellent roasted pork loin, green beans, white beans, corn, sauerkraut, sausage, mashed potatoes, white and brown gravy, turkey, corn bread stuffing, Salisbury steak, moist baked chicken, salad bar, delicious coconut cream pie, peanut butter pie, chocolate pie, cherry cobbler, strawberry shortcake, red velvet cake just so yummy!! Also includes drink, tea/Coke products. The service was excellent, kept our drinks full and plates cleared. We were in Jonesboro visiting when we decided to try a buffet for lunch. Since we weren't familiar with the area. We just picked a restaurant. The best part of our trip was eating at Chef's in. I think it was one of the best buffets I have ever eaten at. The fried Chicken was the best I have ever eaten in 30 years. The vegetables were seasoned perfectly. The sweet tea just like your grandmother made. The blackberry cobbler made you mouth drool. This only being my first to Jonesboro, it won't be my last. Driving from Collierville TN to Jonesboro to eat at Chef's In is very much worth it. Nice road trip. Looking forward to visiting again very soon. Our waitress was also very attentive in keeping our glasses filled. She was a true waitress dressed very professional. She may have been a very mature lady. I have never understood this place' popularity. Everything on their buffet is either reheated from frozen or from a can. And there's just nothing special about any of the food. Allergens are not at all disclosed and the staff doesn't know enough about the ingredients in the food so if you have any food sensitivities or allergies this isn't a safe place to eat. read more

I went with my classmates and teacher for our last day of class. I had never been so I was excited to try it. The menu was pretty small but had a good variety of options. One nice thing I noticed was how low the prices were! I ordered a waffle which cane with bacon. I was a little disappointed because the bacon came out fairly burnt. The waffle however was very good. I'm not sure if it was the actual waffle or the syrup but one was very sweet and tasty. One very annoying thing about the actual restaurant was the the door had a hard time closing. If the handle didn't click it would fly open and let in cold air. Since we were sitting close to it someone was constantly getting up to close it. read more

It's a small buffet but had some really good solid choices. The smothered pork chops were really good. Unfortunately we didn't come on a day for fried chicken. The waitress told us that was Sunday and Monday only. Your drink comes with the buffet and the dessert bar was small but quite good choices. This was my first time to visit Chef's Inn, and now I will be a steady customer. At $10 including drink, it is a bargain. Food is amazing, and tastes home made, not like "restaurant food". Bar is small, but well stocked with great food. Even though it was extremely busy, the service was outstanding. In the area where I sat, there were about 30 people and only one waitress, but she did wonderful. My glass never got more than half empty, and, from what I saw, it was the same at every table. Parking is somewhat limited, but it is well worth this small inconvenience. read more

Came here for breakfast on Father's Day. Overall experience was just ok. Service was adequate, not great, not bad. Food was hit-and-miss. Waffles and pancakes were quite good, as well as the biscuits and gravy. On the other hand, the french toast was practically cold, and too flat. The fried eggs were overdone, even when asked for over-easy. The hash browns were decent, although I've had better, but then I do prefer mine more crispy. Will I be coming back? Really was not impressed however that's probably because of the selection of food and the layout. It was very awkward trying to weave around the food line with such crowded space. The food was alright. Nothing stands out as signature for them. I do however really appreciate the service. The waiters were very nice and quick. I honestly don't see me visiting again but that's only because it's a hard spot to get to downtown for something that's not absolutely great.
