The 1 lb Lobster was slightly overcooked, but the flavor was good, duck fat fries great, and the oyster & waffles were a welcomed addition the meal. The live jazz was an unexpected treat! While the food, cocktails, & staff were great the desserts were awful by Dutch & American standards. Surprised there were no beignets on the menu. Especially considering the pecan pie was not good. Put that $7 to better use and get an after dinner cocktail!

Getting here is an easy walk from the train station, but I was running late so took the bus and that was super quick too as there were 3 buses with a stop near to this restaurant. Our server was great - he made me an off the menu cocktail when I told him the flavor profile of what I like to drink. Food wise, I ended up getting the Gumbo (cause when in Louisiana, right!?) while two of my dining companions got the ribs (I was eyeing this too) and a burger rounded up the last person on our table. We also got chips and that came in a sharing bowl rather than individual serving portions which was a bit weird. My gumbo was really delicious but it only came with two pieces of shrimp! Admittedly they were big shrimp, but I still would have liked some more. Lots of chicken and then a decent amount of sausage rounded up the gumbo. I also had a taste of the ribs and those were bone meltingly tender with a fabulous sweet and tangy glaze. Both the boys gobbled their plates up. We were pretty full up after that meal, so didn't get any dessert and to be honest, none of the very Americana dessert menu items appealed to us. Another time I might order a milkshake tho' cause those flavors looked interesting. Cost wise, between the 4 of us (and we all ordered drinks) the total was €114 (rounded up) so just under €30 per person, which is decent considering alcoholic drinks were involved and we all know the mark-up on those! Loved the loo signage - go check it out but OMG the actual stall size was super small and uncomfortable. The barstool seats on our high top table too were massively uncomfortable! I'd have stayed longer except for my bum protesting about the hardness of the seating. Lots of purple colored lights, to invoke that Mardi Gras mood I guess, and so all my photos have that tinge, however want to assure folks reading this review that no purple looking food was consumed on the night! So overall, it's a 4 star, but the food and service are a solid 5! Yelp 56/ 2019

Thrill Grill - Chicken sandwich (can't remember exact name) with amazing fries. And grilled cheese (Gouda, cheddar and Parmesan)

Usually that is how I pick my restaurants, by the fries! Here I had no idea about the fries before we sat down! I ordered the grilled cheese and husband got a chicken sandwich with fries to split. These were the BEST fries I've ever had. They were perfectly cooked. I could tell that they were double cooked as they should be for homemade fresh fries. I am so glad we didn't get a different variety of them so we could really experience the perfection of the taste! Oh and the grilled cheese and chicken sandwich were delicious too! I definitely will be back for more!

Passed a couple of places but the vibe of this restaurant seemed really happening and they had great pictures of their burgers in the window, so next thing we knew had walked in and were putting in our table orders. I decided to get a Burger Menu combo - burger, fries & a side dish for €16.50 and ordered the Asian Chicken Thriller and upgraded to Umami fries and small beet salad. My co-diner decided to do the same and got the Burger of the day along with Truffle paremesan fries and the Green Salad for her side. I enjoyed the chicken - was very well cooked, but initially the taste was too sweet for me. When got extra wasabi mayo, that bumped up the taste level for me. I didn't enjoy the Umami fries and the accompanying Black Garlic mayo was ok. The beet salad was a surprise as assumed it was more of a yogurt dressing but instead it was more like proper yogurt. This while tasty, didn't really fit into the rest of what I had ordered - I ended up having this as a dessert instead. Drink wise I got a ginger tea which was decent, but the glass I was served in was a bit dirty. Service was great, and the food was served very quickly. We split the bill and individual cost was €21 and change, so very reasonable. Also found out that the menu is prepared by a famous Dutch chef (a la Jamie Oliver) but he doesn't own the restaurant or anything, just changes the menu every 3-4 months. Our server also provided us with a comment card and along with the bill, we got these lovely coffee drops, which I much prefer to mint! Had a great time so I'd come back to this restaurant again. So, I finally made it to Stach after hearing all the hype. Unfortunately, that's all it is …read more.. hype. Started off on the wrong foot as it took more than 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge our presence. The place is small, so that's just bad service. I had to get up and ask if we could place our order. After that, service was friendly and timely. Sadly that couldn't make up for the clubsandwich we ordered. My God. It was embarrassing. It was basically a bread sandwich. I had to open it up to find the 1 slice of bacon and two small chicken strips, along with two tomato slices and soggy lettuce. Thought it could be a mistake but my daughters sandwich was the same. It wasnt even busy. I'm glad I finally went so I know I don't ever have to go again. Truly a waste of our time and money for an offensive excuse of a simple sandwich.

The waitress was very nice and patient...answered all our questions in English and made us feel at home. My daughter and I had burgers, perfectly cooked on a fresh bun with yummy toppings. We made ours "menu" so they came with Frits (French fries) and a side Caesar salad. My wife had that evening's special ribeye steak with salad, potato, and delicious grilled tomatoes still on the vine. My beer was very cold and my wife's wine was good. I could see the chef preparing our food and it came to our table quickly. The restaurant is also very clean, but rustic and charming. Unfortunately, we were too tired and full to try dessert. They have a fridge on the side with many prepared foods for carry-out: salads, pasta, sandwiches, pizza, drinks, chips, etc. I also thought the value was good. What a great start to our 9 days in Haarlem/Overveen! I suspect we will have another meal there.
