If you didn't know it was there, you would definitely miss it. Plus, you would never think a joint in a subway station complex is any good, but this is a real hidden gem.
Suriname is a former Dutch colony in South America. Consequently, there are a number of Surinamese restaurants in Amsterdam, but this takeout stands OUT.
The overhead menu sign is all in Dutch, and so are the few items marked in the butcher/bakery-like display counters. Most dishes are not identified. I had no idea what to get so friends did the ordering. After we ordered I noticed a QR-code for the English menu.
Whatever I ate, and we had at least 6 dishes, they were hearty, spicy and bursting with flavor. You probably can't go wrong trying several items. Don't forget shrimp chips.
If you aren't doing takeout, there are a few cafeteria tables to sit and eat. Don't miss this place!
