McGuffin food is good, but the service they provided was questionable. I was working on 2 different…read moreproductions last year which had McGuffin for catering.
On Mighty Ducks, I was working in Irvine and during lunch time, they broke people into 2 lines for crews/union and the other one is non union. Anyway I am not sure how catering work, but the server refused to give us all the food options, he told me between fish, chicken, pork and steak, I could only pick two. So my understanding is I could try the other two at my second round, but no he also denied me for food, he said one per person, I don't know who made that rule, probably just them because compared with other catering crews they were nothing but generous, the one thing that bothered me the most was they started to clean up while we were still eating lunch, and they just dumped all the extra food into the trash but refused to give us more, that was just beyond me, but they seemed to be in a rush somehow.
On SWAT, production sent me to downtown of Santa Clarita, and again I saw McGuffin there, this time was no different, rush rush rush, by the time we get to set, they had stop serving breakfast, and whatever they had left on their tables, we were at their mercy, we asked if they could make us an omelette, and straight up being refused. I had to wait until lunch, and well I learned my lesson from the first time, so I didn't bother to even go back again for another meal.
Bottom line is not their food, nothing wrong with it, very good food, and they should be proud of their chef, it is the professionalism I am talking about, because I am pretty sure production who hired them should have paid them enough, so they can serve people food, and not prevent them to get more food or judging them on how much food they can get, this practice still happens and I can see why out of 30 productions I worked last year, I only ran into them twice. I hope they can change so that everyone can enjoy a good meal every time on set.
