The food is always decent, never that great. But for buffet-style eating it passes. They always have desserts which people seem to enjoy. I'm really not a dessert-at-lunch kinda feller, rarely a dessert-at-dinner kind of feller, so I can't really comment on them.
Having been here for non-special occasions about fifteen times, I can tell you that their offerings don't vary much. You munch on green beans, poke at some fish, prod some chicken, like the potatoes, raise your eyebrows a little and nod in slight approval at your table mate when chewing on the beef, and drink either water, lemonade, tea, or self-made Arnie Palmer if you're feeling saucy.
Today, however, I attended the St. Patrick's Day special meal, which was similar in quality to their normal offerings. They offered good greens and fruit, as usual, beer-battered fish with a spicy tartar sauce, green beans, cooked carrots, taters, corned beef and cabbage, and shephard's pie.
The fish tasted fine, but the texture was a little, hm, squishy. The corned beef and cabbage was cool, the shephard's pie had chunks of steak in there and was scrumptious but very salty. The taters were baked, skin-on, red potatoes with good seasoning. Also quite salty, though.
All in all, worth the hike up the hill and will probably lead to me attending more of their special menu offerings.
The other times I go because it's my job to go. So I've got that going for me. Which is nice.
