Life got in the way and we finally found a class that worked for our schedule and was interesting to us. We did Hawaiian night - Hawaiian pizza, some saucy chicken over rice, and pineapple upside down cake with coconut whipped cream. All of it was really tasty. We're both more on the advanced side of culinary skills, so while it was a nice to try recipes we wouldn't typically make, we didn't learn a ton of new techniques so it wasn't a class in that sense. We talked to the owner and she said that they definitely do more advanced classes so maybe next time we'll reach out for one of those. She also said that we can always check with her about finding a non-kids class to bring our teenage daughter to who loves to help in the kitchen.

We went for their first October seating, and this month's menu has such cozy fall dishes. The cod and filet were cooked perfectly! The courses are on the smaller side, but it works out well so you can comfortably enjoy each of the six courses, plus bread. We had a front row seat to the open kitchen, and you could see how much care chef Danielle and her team put in to every dish. The timing of the courses flowed perfectly, and having it be capped at 40 people with a prix fixe menu made for a smooth experience. The servers were attentive and made sure we always had enough water and that empty plates were cleared. Perfect for a unique date night or girls night out!

We chose to sit at the kitchen bar to be close to all the action. They started us off with bread service which was cranberry bread with orange butter, and mind you gluten free but you couldn't even tell! The amuse bouche was pimento cheese bread with pork belly lardons and almonds. So tasty. Next we had honey nut squash with whipped cheese and sage. So good. The cheese was out of this world. Next we had Chorizo crusted sea bass in an herb oil cream sauce. This was my favorite dish of the evening. I honestly wanted to lick the cream sauce out of the empty dish. Next was a curry chicken which was so tasty and then our final savory dish Pomegranate braised beef with coconut rice which was my second favorite. The flavors were spot on and there was this interesting popping texture to the dish. Our final course dessert, Brown butter miso cookie cake with chai gelato was delivered by chef Danielle herself who also took the time to check in on our experience. The whole experience was phenomenal and I recommend for any foodies. This place is catching on quickly so be sure to secure a reservation as they fill up so fast!

The sushi we made was the spicy tuna and salmon, avocado, cucumber rolls. They were great choses and very delicious but from my understanding when you book your experience you can choose which rolls you make. Their Sanctuary Kitchen project bolsters another objective -- encouraging fairness and participation in the entrepreneurial aspects of food business. As I understand Sanctuary Kitchen, they offer fair wage employment opportunities in a food catering and grab and go type business to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. I believe these people are encouraged to help expose people to world cuisines that are meaningful to them. You can order food for pickup at designated times. You can also buy the food at the Farmers Markets. I recently visited the Sunday City Seed Market at Edgewood Park near the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. There were a variety of foods. I grabbed a tasty hunmus and a box of the donut style falafel. Both good. But I was really intrigued by the Iraqi food offerings because I haven't knowingly had Iraqi food. I bought Iraqi Carrot and Dill rice, Iraqi Lentil Soup and Iraqi Vegetable Curry Soup. Since I'm not experienced in Iraqi cuisine, I can't speak to authenticity or make a comparative quality analysis. The food seemed nutrient rich. I'm not sure if this a cultural thing or the preference of the individual cook, I think the food needed a bit more salt across the board. Also, in terms of texture, the rice was good, but the soups seemed a bit overcooked and had a softer texture than I would expect. I was happy to have a chance to try these foods and I applaud the mission of City Seed. 4.25 Stars

The show is still in development, it may not be Broadway quality atm but it is very entertaining and I imagine if you can enjoy yourself with family and friends there is no excuse to say anyone had a "bad time" at this event. I am a fine dining server of 15 years, I have worked under Michelin Star earning chefs and was a food writer in New Haven for a number of years. The quality of the food is very good. My whole party left very satiated and full. Everything was delicious. It is sad to see there is such vitriol in these reviews, TBH when reading some of them I was getting nervous that my parents might be let down. But, when we were there, I began feeling sorry for the people who left such negative reviews, as they seemed to not be able to enjoy themselves in such an easily enjoyable atmosphere. I began imagining their holiday gatherings as quite glum boring experiences themselves, these poor unfortunate souls probably got coal for Xmas every year of their youth!!! I mourned for their lack of childhood happiness.‍ This was a very fun experience for our whole family. My parents are already planning on returning and we can't wait to see Chef Sandy on A&E this fall!!!

Everybody was so welcoming and attentive, the food was delicious, and it was just a great time overall. Starting out, a fresh green salad with strawberries, walnuts, and raspberry vinaigrette. They were also very accommodating to anybody who may have had allergies to nuts, gluten, etc. Next she showed us how to prepare and make spring rolls from scratch! Followed by delicious salmon bruschetta. The main entree was pasta primavera with chicken francaise which she actually asked for a few volunteers to demonstrate the process, showing it was easy enough for anybody to make. A bonus for the evening, we also got blueberry cake! Just when we thought we were too full...it tasted so good we made room in our bellies!
