After coming to this area five times within the last two years we finally made reservations and ate here. Last time we were in the area we tried walking up and were told it would be over an hour wait so we left. We ordered a trio fish dish that was a special and the seafood pasta. The trio fish was good, tasted fresh and had good flavor. The seafood pasta was just alright nothing bad and nothing special. Both were around $50 a plate and not really worth the price. For dessert we ordered the Carmel cheesecake and bread pudding which were good but won't blow your socks off. Overall, not for our tastebuds but it might be for yours.

Still one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Wife and I just went back to Islamorada for a little R&R. Reserved a table at Chef Michael's on a Friday evening after a nice drink and sunset at Pierre's. Kim was our server. Attentive, recommended some great wine. Went with a Sav Blanc from NZ. Started out with their famous Wedge Salad. For entrees the Wife and I both had hog fish / mine was with Pontchartrain and the wife had the Ambassador. Then for dessert we had their Salted Carmel Cheesecake Brûlée. Wow! Hands down some of the best food there is.

Chef Michael's is always a hit and never a miss! Excellent service from professional servers that love their profession. Each server is unique and demonstrates great knowledge of each dish which helps making a selection easier. The food is just exquisite. My favorite and go to dish is the Pontchartrain preparation which is extremely flavorful and perfection. The steaks and lamb chops are delectable. Let's talk desserts: OH MY... The cinnamon roll bread pudding is to die for! Must try!

Seafood pasta

We're back, and you did it again! Thank you for creating the most delicious seafood pasta!

Best restaurant in Islamorada. Everything was 10/10. Best conch chowder in the keys, amazing fish. Top notch service. Small restaurant so get a reservation, but still a keys vibe. Not cheap, but you know what you're getting into.

Finally had a chance to experience Chef Michael's. We had a really enjoyable dinner. We took our own catch of Mutton Snapper and they charged us $27.00 per person to cook our catch. It was more or less 50% of the cost of a dish as the average dish is $48.00. The restaurant is has a nice vibe with an upscale keys vibe. Reservations are highly recommended especially on the weekends. The bread was super fresh. We had the tuna appetizer and small fried Lion fish which was excellent as well. Our fish was delicious cooked in two ways. Portchartrain and Abassador. Both were amazing! Highly recommend those two. The coconut rice and vegetables were amazing! The service was great too. They also had good kids menu with chicken, steak & pasta. They had etch & sketch for the kids to used at dinner which allowed them to stay entertained for a bit. Really enjoyed the experience.

This establishment was recommended to us by someone in our hotel jacuzzi. She said several people told her about it! The hotel provides a shuttle so that was easy too. Made a reservation. The food was delicious. The service was great! The environment was peaceful. It's a place that you can go dressed nice or business casual. The server recommended fish that is good (different fish options than we were used to). All in all, I would recommend this place over and over to people who are in the area! I just wish we ordered a dessert. Later at the hotel, one of the employees said it's known for their desserts too! So if you're reading this, save some room for a dessert. :) The only thing is that they knew it was a very big special occasion, but they didn't recognize it in anyways, so that was the only disappointment and everything was so great it is hardly worth mentioning.

Came here because of Yelp reviews and were glad we did! Nice restaurant with very fresh fish! We try not to eat bread but it came with their herb olive oil that was delicious! And then of course with escargot there's more chance to eat bread. We got the wahoo tataki as an app, trilogy fish (subbing another fish for mahi because we'd already had mahi that day), and the Juliette triple tail. So got to try five fishes in one meal! Service was also great. Highly recommend!

"Juliette" prepared hogfish with coconut rice and vegetables.

Chef Michael's is one of the few true fine dining experiences in Islamorada. There are two things that are certain when you visit Chef Michael's. You will have an incredible dining experience... and you certainly will pay a pretty penny for that experience. For appetizers I got the lamb lollipops (chops) and the Baby Iceberg salad. The salad was fantastic, however I was not impressed with the lamb. It tasted ok, and was cooked to the requested temperature, but lacked any real seasoning. It was too charred on the outside given the lack of seasoning to balance it out. For entrees I had the "Juliette" prepared Hogfish and the Fried Lionfish. Both were served with coconut rice and vegetables. Both dishes were fantastic! I have always wanted to try Lionfish, and it was fried to perfection with a very light breading. The "Juliette" preparation of the hogfish was fantastic as well with it being a creamy white wine sauce with shrimp and scallops on top. Even though I loved the taste of the Lionfish, I likely would not get it again as it is an exceptionally boney fish, and those bones are so small and prevalent around the meat, that they were hard to avoid. Still a delicious dish. The ambiance was fantastic with the dining room dimly lit and quiet, and a small bar area. It is the perfect setting for a date night or special occasion. I was very impressed with the staff as well. Everyone was friendly and our waitress was very knowledgeable both of the menu and wine pairings. Definitely a dining experience that lived up to and in some areas exceeded my expectations!

How much in advance can you make a reservation if dining on a Wednesday night in early May?

I would just call them or email them. I got a reservation right away. And I booked it a month out. But they do get busy.

Is there outdoor dining?

Hello, The Patio area would considered inside dining, as it is enclosed with windows and has AC

What is the average dress code like? I'm looking for somewhere to go for my birthday and I have a nice long dress and heels will I look out of place?

You'll look great! Go with it!!

Are there dog friendly tables?

Don't think so. They only have indoor seating. But give them a call and confirm

What night is Prime Rib night?

Wednesday and Friday. Make sure Chef Christian is there. He's the master.

Wowwwww!!!!…read more Apparently this is under new management now, and wow... you can absolutely tell! I've been back four times in the past week because the food is just that good. Honestly, it's a 10/10 every single time. My current favorites are the fritters, the homemade soups (always amazing), and the Shack Fried FishI'm completely obsessed! The fish dip is also incredible, and what makes it even better is that the fish is fresh, locally caught, and never frozen. You can truly taste the difference. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. There's a great bar area if you're coming to relax, but there's also a separate family-friendly section, so it's perfect whether I'm dining alone or bringing my kids!!!! . I've already brought five different people here, and every single one of them has loved it. The service has been outstanding every visit. Everyone is genuinely kind and welcoming, and the owner is right there working alongside the staff, making sure guests are taken care of. It's refreshing to see someone so hands-on and passionate about their restaurant. As someone who absolutely loves food, I can honestly say there hasn't been a single thing I've tried that I didn't enjoy. Great food, fresh local seafood, wonderful people, and an awesome atmosphere. This is exactly what we needed, and I'm so happy they're here. Highly recommend! I'm truly obsessed can you tell

We started with the shrimp fritters, then I had the BEST coconut shrimp I have truly ever eaten. It was served with a pina colada "secret sauce " that tasted like the tropics. I chose the veggie of the day which was fresh steamed yellow squash with a garlic butter seasoning and it also came with two perfectly cooked hush puppies and a small side of fantastic Cole slaw. My husband had the shrimp po boy and the breading and seasoning were perfect. The service was really good, despite them only having one server. We finished our meal with a slice of the BEST Key Lime pie ever topped with a chocolate ganache. Just GO. This is a family restaurant that has been around for years and years.

I got sooo many recommendations to go here, I had to with my wife for our 24th Wedding Anniversary…read more I'm giving this place 5 stars overall even though I had 1 major disappointment-the miserable young woman hostess who made us feel like we were bothering her by wanting to go into the restaurant. No smile, No congeniality, Little eye contact, Did Not listen and I had to repeat myself. The reception we received would have made us turn around and go somewhere else, if I hadn't had so many recommendations. OK, now the reasons why I have given them 5 stars. We were quoted a 45 minute wait (about 7:30pm on Tuesday night) but luckily some bar stools opened up AS SOON as we walked in and so we sat at the bar (they offered their full menu), and Fernando, who was EXTREMELY busy, greeted us with a smile and very pleasant demeanor. He prepared our drinks, which were delicious. Right next to him and working the 'Service Bar' was the Manager on Duty: Lauren. She was very pleasant and engaged with us whenever she had the opportunity. She even helped us with menu suggestions, unfortunately, we spoke about one of their nightly specials, the Shrimp Piccata with Gnocchi, but they were sold out when we tried to order it with Fern. So we had a great experience at the bar, and here's the food review; -Fried Whole Yellowtail. Delicious! Presented like a picture and cooked perfectly! Loved the sauce, Pico, Jasmine Rice & Fried tostones. -Citrus/Beet Salad with Whipped Goat Cheese, Quinoa, Nuts, Arugula tossed in a light vinaigrette. All I can say: "Empty Plate Club"...DELICIOUS!! -Now the BEST plate: PEI Mussels. THIS WAS THE BEST PREPARATION OF MUSSELS-I HAVE EVER HAD! The mussels were fresh but the sauce was a "Mic Drop"!!! I split the mussel shell in half, and scooped the mussel shell into the AMAZING sauce and ate it like I was slurping a fresh oyster! After the mussels were finished I ate the rest of the sauce WITH A FORK!!! The sauce was delicious, thick, with garlic and hot spice. I attacked the plate and forgot to take a picture...sorry! We ended our meal with a tasty piece of delicious Key Lime Pie. GREAT EXPERIENCE AND RECOMMEND AND WILL COME BACK!!! Lauren, great job, the place ran clean, efficient and professional!

My favorite spot this whole trip!…read more My boyfriend and I are on our first weekend getaway together. We decided our last dinner in town would be here. Our friend Bubba highly recommended it, saying "square grouper slaps." If you know him, you know that is extremely high praise. Let me tell you, square grouper does indeed slap. We were seated on the patio, facing the marina. We got to watch a magical sunset as we literally stuffed ourselves stupid with a variety of insanely yummo seafood. We got the coconut shrimp, portobello fries, scallops, and the tile fish, all per the amazing Ari's recommendations. Did I take any pictures NO I was enjoying a wonderful evening with my yummy man. They were all absolute wins. I've never had coconut shrimp before, and these were absolutely delightful- tender and tropical, which is not a flavor I thought I would enjoy but was happy at that uno reverse. The portobello fries were crisp and juicy?? And meaty from the mushroom?? Idk man a bitch was into it I ate them all. My scallops were divine- they came with this pork belly and sweet potato hash and just pleasured every tastebud with every bite. His tile fish was good, it was crispy and gorg. He ate the whole thing so fast, while commenting in between bites how much he was enjoying it. We also got the key lime pie (mine) and the brownie (his). It was literally my favorite key lime pie of the whole trip, it was so good. We couldn't finish the desserts and took them home, I'm really excited to have them as the best midnight snack of my life. Amazing Ari- you are a gem. Her service was unmatched. She was so happy, informative, and attentive. Her recommendations did not miss. She took phenomenal pictures for us in front of the water that I can one day show our kids and say "look how hot mom and dad were before you guys!" She needs a 200% raise. Thank you for making our last night here so wonderful!

SPACE: Everything about the space just exudes the Keys life. In side there's a variety of seating including community tables for larger groups and both high top and low top seating. While we were seeking air conditioning and a reprieve from the August heat, Islamorada Brewery and Distillery offers up a huge patio space with misting fans and lawn games galore. Neat! SERVICE: I'll start by saying that Islamorada Brewery and Distillery is a counter service joint. So when you're ready for a pour you want to belly up to the bar. The beertenders were super friendly and approachable. They made great suggestions and tempted me with their gram worthy flight. SIPS: We both opted for pour of the coconut lime blonde ale - No Wake Zone. It was light, crushable, and wonderfully tropical. In addition we also sipped on their coconut scooter vodka. Whoa! That could be dangerous - it was so smooth. SUSTENANCE: Islamorada Brewery and Distillery offers a up a decent assortment of curbside eats from their in-house (or would it be on-site) food truck!
