Imagine every time you've ever been let down at a gross Chinese buffet - that's the experience you're going to receive. The food was lukewarm at best, looked like it had been sitting in the warmer all day after being microwaved. The sushi was semi decent, but I was scared to eat more than one bite because if the rest of the food was disregarded and left to sit all day I can't imagine the sushi was done differently. The price for 2 people both with waters was $29, which is a bit steep considering the quality of the food being served. Would have happily paid more if the food was fresh-er and of higher quality. The restaurant was extremely dark which concerns me about the cleanliness of the space. Will not be returning. read more

My son and I went in tonight to celebrate my late father's birthday together because his favorite food was Broccoli beef. When I say we walked in to huge smiles and the fastest service of drinks, I'm not exaggerating. It was early evening and pretty busy but the buffet hot lines were stocked full and piping hot. The food itself was delicious, hot and exactly what my dad would have adored ,us too :) . The restaurant is cozy and has a very relaxed atmosphere. To top it all off my son was speaking to the older gentleman about his art and they had a great interaction while the man drew a tank for my son because as he said, "We are friends now, practice this at home too." This place is gross. It's packed and LOUD. It had an odd smell in some parts and is STICKY. I have been to many buffets in multiple states and this is by far one of the grossest ones that come to mind. Don't trust the people who claim it's amazing. Firstly, don't employ people who pretend like they don't know what "table for 1 adult, 2 children" means, when their job as a hostess entails seating people. I should've walked out then. After being sat, we went to the buffet. The customers making their plates were literally like scavenger's. This is not the fault of the restaurant. I just can't believe how uncouth the customers making their plates were. You typically allow to see people maybe not at their best at a buffet style meal, but these folks were unhinged and acted like the food was going to be gone if they didn't bump you out of the way right when they walked up to where you were, or stare at you while you were serving yourself. The three of us each made 1 plate and one soup bowl each. It was nearly impossible to even get the food we got because of the other people eating there. The chicken- maybe it was orange? Was gummy and hard in some bites. Kind of tasteless. The soup was ok. We each picked around our plates. The only one who got dessert at all was my youngest son. The ice cream machine was broken and all they had in that direction was individual ice cream cups. The ambiance was off. The lighting was too dark and everything just seemed dirty. We couldn't wait to leave. I admit I was also shocked at the price- $43 for 3 people with all waters. Turns out, they consider children to be 3-9. At the end of the day, I was happy to just pay and get out of there, with note to self that we won't be returning. Also of note, my 11 year old has been vomiting all day today, and my youngest son and I both had stomach sickness directly after we left. I imagine it's because of how gross the clientele were, all over that buffet like flies. I also witnessed a woman making a styrofoam to go plate, and she would put food in her to go plate and use her fingers to eat out of the to go plate right there at the food bar, and then add more food. POST COVID RE-OPENING... they have finally opened. In short it is a shadow of what it was... It is no longer a buffet.. but rather a Chinese cafeteria. No Mongolian grill... no sushi... no fresh fruit... just two steam tables with Chinese stir fry items... lots of rice and noodles... very basic bare bones Chinese food. They have installed plastic shields and all food is served to you... ya can't serve yourself. All workers were wearing masks and gloves... many tables have been removed to comply with the social distancing requirements. Here is the deal. They jack prices on the weekend by 2-3 bucks on the buffet. Prices go up after 3 or so for dinner menu. This adds ribs and crablegs..both taste good. The stir fry grill is HORRIBLE. They only have non-English speaking Mexicans and they basically overcook the food so much it is not edible...skip the stir fry. The primary reason I go to the restaurant here is for the chicken Buffalo wings. I will load up 3 dozen or so and drink my iced tea. If still hungry load up the shrimp. Very easy to get your 10 dollars worth (lunch price with tea) if you are semi hungry. Good Soft Serve. Good Sweet and Sour chicken. The beef and broccoli and other "Chinese" dishes have little flavor...they have no idea what chicken powder is or starch. Not as good bang for the buck as Emperor of China but they have the best wings on a buffet in the city. read more

After reading the three negative reviews right below this, it is hard to believe the folks writing them actually ate there. (You might notice that all three of the reviews were written in an 11 day period.) My wife and I have eaten there more than 50 times over the last five years, including at least three times this year, most recently this afternoon. While we have never tried the stir fry grill, we have tried pretty much everything else there and love the place. The idea that they "only have non-English speaking Mexicans" there or that the food is overcooked or inedible is absurd. The buffet price, variety (more than 50 items), food quality, and service are all good. The only real reservations are that the place often has a noisy child or two, and that like most Chinese restaurants, they are pretty weak on deserts. read more

This use to be my favorite go to buffet but I don't have the luxury of eating out much anymore. So when I got the chance today to dine I wanted to get the best for my money. We walked in and there was a smell of maybe wet carpet, we were seated quick. But almost everything that I got to eat was overcooked or had no flavor. The rice had zero flavor, the noodles tasted of nothing but garlic. The fried prawns were mush, and the egg roll had very little stuffing and then it tasted lime just steamed cabbage. I will never choose this place again. I can cook better at home than go pay $40 for us to eat out at this place ever again. read more

Just went in there today and I was super disappointed. Floor was not clean, everything disorganized and the staff I had to deal with was not friendly at all. My family and I love Chinese food and we don't eat it often but this place makes me not even want to eat it again. Maybe they haven't changed the cooking oil, I don't know. But that 1st bite, everyone was disappointed in the food. When we went to pay, it was no one up front so a lot of us were just standing and waiting, causing people to try and cut in line. My boyfriend and I have been here before to eat in, which in my opinion still is overpriced, but last nite went in and got it to go. First of all I didn't see any prices anywhere and the guy handed us a divided styrofoam box to fill up. I had to ask for soup cups and he told us if we put anything else in them he'd charge extra. So I could barely close my box, got my soup and then we checked out and our total was $21.30! I couldn't believe it. No drinks or anything. Eh, there isn't much to say about Chef lin. It's a pretty big Chinese buffet with a lot of choices. The main problem is that the food they serve is not very palatable. For some reason, the food just tastes old...a lot of the time it isn't cooked all of they way through. I also don't like the price...I feel that it isn't suited to the quality of the food. Chef Lin is just your average cheap Chinese buffet. A few of the foods were just simply bland or tasteless, and seemed to be a bit inconsistent... One piece of chicken felt as hard as a rock, and I think something jabbed my throat on the way down as I was eating fried rice. As far as the inside, there were two flies that kept bugging the life out of me, and they have a few Christmas lights up all year. Other than that, on the inside is your standard Asian patterns and statues, fairly clean it would appear. They were pretty packed out when I went, but it still would have been nice to get a refill on my drink. Not much else to say, you get what you pay for! Meh. I heard a lot of great things about this place and I decided to try it. My first experience was alright. I went with some friends and I expected some awesome food. We were seated in a nice quiet part of the restaurant. I went for the sushi because it was said to be delicious. I think the sushi might have been out on the trays a bit too long. The California roll was good, but not quite good enough to get seconds. The rice and beef broccoli were alright. I expected more from this place. The waiters were very nice and attentive. My second trip to this restaurant was uncomfortable. A few friends and I arrived and we were seated in some small, run-down, and uncomfortable booths. What made my experience worse were the little obnoxious kids that kept rocking back and forth behind us. My friend and I had to deal with bobbing or bodies frontwards and backwards. (I'm passive about little kid shenanigans, but this changed after this experience) The food was as mediocre as I remembered and the waiters only came to our table to refill our drinks once, and bring out the check. My family and I all enjoyed the wide range of food here. Service was excellent and prompt, but the person preparing the sushi seemed slightly annoyed when asked what each contained. I have had lunch there for years now and it is very good and consistent. I recently made a trip to Chattanooga to try the much larger Forbidden City that has a larger selection on the buffet. Didn't come close to being as good as Chef Lin. Glad I went and now I know not to waste that drive and pay more for less. read more
