We visited this place for dinner after reading about this place on NewYork times. A great find indeed. As you walk in you are greeted by a bright yellow facade and tables covered with gingham style table clothes. We sat outdoors since the the weather was good. The place seems like a popular local restaurant with very few tourists visiting, since it's located in downtown Cancun and away from the hotel zone.
Our waiter didn't speak English so it was a great opportunity to practice my Spanish. But fear not, there is one waiter who does speak fluent English. Once we settled in, we were served some warm bread with a spicy habanero salsa. Very delicious! We decided to go with pasta and the waiter was very helpful providing his recommendations all along. Also, he suggested that we go with one order of pasta for two persons, since portion sizes were big. We really appreciated his gesture, of not trying to sell more than was required. The pasta was very tasty, made al dente, in true Italian style. Next time, would love to try the wood fired pizza. They looked delicious as well.
P.S - After your meal, you can take a stroll in the Palapas Park (Parque las palapas). A great place to experience local life, with plenty of food carts, toys and other wares being sold. read more
