This shop offers a good variety of specialty products including cheeses, pâtés, condiments, chocolates, wines, etc. I love that they carry Rancho Gordo beans. Customer service is attentive and friendly. The shop is small and busy with plenty of people coming and going on the weekend. Parking is street in front, but there is a small lot across the street.

Cool little spot that carries various cheese and items from Europe. They will let you taste the cheese only if you're planning on buying something. Lost a star for that and...not all of their cheese is available for taste. I bought Goat cheese from Spain named Garrotxa so good. Will definitely come back.

After lunch with some girlfriends, we decided to check this place out. It is such an amazing little shop. They sell gift items, snacks, candies, wine, balsamic, olive oils, beans, meats and bratwurst, as well as a huge variety of cheeses. We all went crazy over the Ewephoria cheese, which is a gouda from Holland. A few of my girlfriends bought butter and raved about it. Another bought a caramel and said it was amazing. We plan to go back again soon, and I will definitely be buying some butter! If you are in the area, make sure to stop in!

The best cheese snacks in the area. I will take the 20 minute drive to pick up cheese when I want something extra special. They have cheeses I have never heard of and from other countries too. They are the expert in their field and occasionally have classes, which is what I need to learn so much more than the basic Cheddar, Brie, Gruyere, Manchego, Burrata, Gonzonzola and Fontina. There is hard cheese, soft and semi-soft type, I just love them all! On my last visit I bought wine and a snack box that was ready to go (cheese, salami, nuts, fruit and olives). It took the "pressure" off me from deciding what to choose. They are super friendly and helpful. Even if you stopped by when you weren't hungry, buy some cheese or sandwich anyway, you will be glad you did. Don't forget to tell 'em that Rosemary sent ya!

    Sample box.

Very friendly service. I bought a sample box because I didn't know where to start. I just read they give samples which might of helped. It came with dried fruit and weirdly corn nuts, real nuts would have been classier - nice gourmet shop if you have the $ and knowledge.

Our favorite place to stop in and get cheese plate goodies. Amazing selection of fresh cheeses and meats and butters, as well as cards and other things. Mustard, crackers, anything. The service is always excellent and they're so helpful and not pushy. We always find something fun to bring home when we visit for the farmers market.

If you need ingredients for your charcuterie board, Cheese Cave is the place to go. You can purchase ingredients to build your own charcuterie board from their fine selection of cheeses, crackers, meats, etc. or order a cheese platter from their website. The cheese platters range from small to large. Cheese Cave also offers custom gift baskets. I was able to purchase a few goodies from Cheese Cave, and I paid an additional $10 fee for the gift wrapping. They make lovely gift baskets! Please keep in mind that orders should be placed at least one day in advance and a few days in advance for holiday orders.

Oh. My. Gawd. If you like grilled cheese and tomato soup...run here!! Niece loved this place and that young girl only eats like 5 things. A must for Claremont.

L-R: Pimento Spread, $10.60. Raspberry Mango Passion Fruit Jam, $10

Cheese Cave is located in downtown Claremont with street parking available (but may be filled if you are coming on a busy day). I came by here on a Wednesday afternoon around 1 pm with my husband because of a gift card that I had received. This store was smaller than I thought it would be. But when we came in, we were greeted by two employees behind the counter. After looking around, I ended up deciding to purchase: Pimento Spread, $10.60- I love cheese spreads and this is definitely a good one. But does have a little bit of a spicy kick to it (but those that are regular spicy eaters probably won't think so. I don't eat spicy foods). Raspberry Mango Passion Fruit Jam, $10- Haven't tried this yet but caught my eye because of the flavor combination. ---------------- (Total= $20.60, no tax) This store definitely has some specialty artisan food products that would make great hostess gifts or if you just want to try something different. But to be honest, if it wasn't for the gift card that I got, I probably wouldn't shop here. I actually prefer to get my cheeses from Trader Joe's and Whole Foods just because I frequent those stores a bit more often. But I think if you are a cheese snob, this would definitely be the place for you to check out or their other location in Los Angeles. I appreciate the friendliness by both employees while I was in the store.

    Do you sell cheese rennet?

We do not carry rennet - you may want to check with Pacific Brewing Supplies in San Dimas to see if they have it in stock!

Hi. Do any of the food delivery services deliver for you?

None that we are aware of

    Do you accept EBT/food stamps?

Hi Joey, unfortunately we don’t have the necessary hardware to process EBT transactions. Our current point of sale system is not capable.

    Do you have truffle cheese?

We typically have at least 1 or 2 truffle cheeses… in fact we have a new Italian truffle cheese coming in tomorrow!

    Do you have Asadero cheese?

Hi there! We do not carry Asadero cheese unfortunately. Have a great afternoon :)

Do you carry spirits? It says "beer, wine and spirits" on your listing but I only see beer and wine in the pictures.

Hi there! Thanks for the question. We sell beer, wine, cider, & vermouth. Unfortunately Yelp doesn’t provide a separate category for “beer & wine”. The only category they provide is “Beer, Wine & Spirits”.… Read more

A most near second is the braised short rib, served with a delectable and cloud-soft heap of mashed potatoes. Of lesser note were the wagyu tacos, pigs in a blanket, and the maple pecan butter cake, which proved but ordinary in their savor. Why gave I it four? - Forsooth, the service remaineth most excellent, the choices ample, and the fare overall commendable. Know thou, many of the draughts afore-mentioned were priced for happy hour as a small note. Of those dishes deemed but middling, the wagyu tacos and pigs in a blanket lacked that wondrous spark upon the tongue. Lastly, the dry-aged ribeye, though served with seasoning apart, did taste somewhat over-salted to mine palate. Yet, these faults did not greatly diminish mine experience for I retain my favored dishes and shall return anon. Verdict? - Shouldst thou find thyself near Claremont, prithee give it a try, for it is a place most grand.

We were first introduced to one another by the previous owners, Mary and Jim, during one of their events--little did we know those introductions would grow into lifelong friendships. Over the years, our Wednesday Wine Nights became a tradition we all cherished. When we learned that the shop was going up for sale, we were understandably nervous. We wondered what would happen if it didn't sell--where would we go? And if it did sell, what if the new owners changed the shop in ways we didn't love? What if we didn't connect with them the way we had with Mary and Jim, who had become family to us? Then it happened, the shop sold. We were introduced to Maria and Veronica, and it was truly love at first meeting. They are two of the kindest, most welcoming women, and they have brought fresh ideas and wonderful energy to the shop. Our Wednesday Wine Nights continue today, and we are grateful to have gained new friends in Maria, Veronica, and their families, who help run this warm, family-operated business. The Third Street Wine Shop remains a place where you are welcomed the moment you walk in--where the owners make you feel like you're their only guests. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a tasting, a glass, or a bottle of exceptional wine, paired with one of their beautiful charcuterie boards or other delicious snacks. And for those who prefer beer, they offer a great selection of local craft options as well. We hope to see you there soon!

Those my only positive comments from my first visit. I came on a Saturday so they might have been busier than normal. I had to wait quite a while for my number to be called and then I had to wait even longer because the server had to correct a mistake on the previous order. There was no place to sit and my knees were hurting from the wait. Once helped, the young man who wrote down my order walked toward the food prep area and almost immediately yelled that he was taking a break. The young man who prepared my three sandwiches seemed inexperienced and unsure how the sandwiches were made. I remained hopeful. I took the sandwiches to the cashier in another area of the store. She was young but cordial and asked if I wanted the sandwiches in a bag and I said, "yes please", only later to realize I was charged for the bag. As many other reviews mention, this business has amazing potential but the customer service is sorely lacking. There are obvious deficiencies in training and supervision. Now, about the sandwiches. The bread is tasty but VERY hard (almost stale). This is much different than all other sandwich places and I was not expecting it. I was very disappointed that one of the sandwiches was completely wrong and not the way I ordered it. I will say the sandwiches were a good value but the poor customer service and incorrect order will prevent me from returning. I hope your experience is better than mine!
