Que rico pollo.
Oscar E.

I love this place for many reasons. The buche, the salsas, the tacos but especially the pollo al carbon that they have on weekends. As soon as you walk out of your car you can smell the aroma in the parking lot. The seasoning on that pollo, the taste, and it's not dry... it's so juicy! Check them out!

I still love this little market and take-out place. Their prepared foods are delicious, but my colleagues also like their meats. I enjoy their chips, beans, rice, tamales, aguas frescas, tacos, ceviche, chicharones, salsas, guacamole, champurrado, and fresas con crema. They also have cases of baked goods like pan dulce and conchas if you're looking for that. They have fresh and dried chiles and your Mexican grocery basics. The people here are nice and helpful. It's a small, neighborhood market, but honestly, I'd rather come here than the bigger markets.

Hidden gem of Pomona! Raffa's always has the BEST avocados. No matter which one you choose, it'll always be good. The agua frescas are super popular and no one leaves without one. The people are so nice and helpful, the man that is grilling chicken out front always makes sure to greet each one of their visitors. This market is definitely more casual, make sure to place your hot food order over the phone for the quickest service. I pay a visit every weekend, I've enjoyed everything I've tried from here.

Raffas market, carniceria and restraint has so much to offer. Pollo asado (grilled chicken) is cooked on weekends only. They start early in the morning and you can get it at 9am earliest. The workers here are always super super nice. At the carniceria they usually only speak Spanish but if they notice you can't speak it, they will have someone come over to translate. Chicken was $15 for one. Bag or tortilla chips is $6. Chicken comes with a free container of salsa. The carne de res was $13 a pound I think? The salsa and chips were not that good unfortunately. I have had their guac and pic de gallo from there before and those were amazing.

This looked like a big ol' farm store and from the second I saw it, I was pretty darn excited. This large store features ample parking, tables outside, and a petting zoo that didn't actually have any animals, but maybe they were just inside. The shop itself is full of baked goods, clothing, drinks, and literally everything else you can usually find at a farm style store. I was super tempted to pick up a bunch of chocolate when walking around, but since it was pretty hot outside I had to settle for the farms own Orange Juice and a big fat rice crispy treat with chocolate and pretzel on top. The orange juice was OH SO refreshing on this hot day and the rice crispy treat was really good as well. Overall, The Cal Poly Pomona Farm Store is a great place to stop and pick up a few things. I really liked the two things I picked up and I can definitely see stopping back here the next time i'm in Pomona!

You only realize you've passed it once you drive past Buca Di Beppo. They share the parking lot with a gym, too. I tend to park near the entrance, but these are timed spots for grocery goers. They have an array of seasonal plants outside for you to look at before going inside. It's very clean inside. Immediately to your right you'll find fresh flowers and vegetables. The middle aisles are the frozen foods, spices, pastas, pet food, and some hand creams. Towards the back/last row are the alcoholic beverages paired with meat, cheeses, and breads. The workers here are very kind and you can find them sporadically stocking new items in each aisle. They always spark up a conversation with you when you're checking out and are always willing to help you bag your items. Maybe I'm used to it, but I really like this location for the layout, the people, the consistent supply of goods, and the convenient location.

I also decided to buy and try the canned Calamari in Olive Oil. Although it was good, I just don't think I'm a calamari person after all lol. As for the Watermelon Cucumber Cooler, it ended up being more sweeter than I expected, so i just didn't really end up being a fan :/ Overall though, checkout was quick and smooth, and I didn't have to wait in line for very long. :)
