Cali All Stars is definitely a top-tier gym with a celebrity reputation. That said, they don't…read morealways put their money where their mouth is. While they preach that athletes must meet certain skill levels--like having tumbling or flexibility--it's not consistently applied. There are athletes on higher-level teams (like J2 Crew, Covert, Swagg, and Pink) who lack basic tumbling skills or flexibility, yet they still get picked year after year. Meanwhile, kids who do have the skills are often overlooked. For example, there was a girl on J2 Crew who has been there for years and still doesn't have a back handspring. Yet, an athlete didn't get to fly because she was a priority. Weird. Cali is an amazing gym if you fit the "type" or look they're going for. But if you don't, skillset alone might not get you where you deserve to be. Just know--it's not always about talent. Sometimes, it's about the image they want to present. Your team will WIN but your child internally may not.

At first we told her why can't you go to Valley Cheer as it was in our hometown. Well long story short, we ended up taking her to Cali. Best decision we ever made. She started on a senior level 1 team as a flyer, which she loves. Let's just say she has the bug. She wanted to do Cali for a year to improve so she could tryout for HS Cheer, well guess what?!? You got it, she didn't tryout for HS as her main focus is to move up a level each year with Cali. This year she made a Jr. Level 2 team. She is one of the oldest, and is now a base. She is enjoying learning how to base, and her tumbling has improved in less than 2 years. This year will give her the opportunity to be a leader to the younger kids on the team. The staff is incredible!!! Calvin and Andrew were terrific coaches last year when she was on Deja Blue. They taught her to believe in herself. She gained confidence as well as wonderful friendships (so did this momma). The gym has taught her how to work hard, have goals and be disciplined. She has experienced highs, lows and many life lessons. We look forward to her year on J2-Crew, and working with Coach Brittany & Matt. Faith over Fear!!! Cali

In that email, they had old covid protocols from 2020. They really need to update their "welcome" information for parents. - The class is for ages 5-12 and they keep the kids together. The problem with this is that 5 year olds do not have the attention span or understanding as the older kids. To have them all together and essentially "punish" the older kids to hold a "stretch" position until the younger kids are able to catch up is not right. They need to split kids up by age groups and create a more positive learning experience. - Coach Sam is not someone who exhibits a positive cheer attitude. Both my child and my friend's child came back home talking about how mean she was. These camps are intended to be fun, she did not make it fun or treat the kids with respect. In the time when I was there, I also observed her lack of kindness. - Sign in and sign out process is a joke, they do not even check when you pick up your children. This is not safe, they should check when each child is picked up by an appropriate guardian especially if it's a camp setup like this. - Several children were new to cheer/tumlbing and needed help with the basics such as how to do a cartwheel, the "teachers" did not provide any help. They just told the kids to keep trying and to not interrupt them when they are working with other kids. How is a child supposed get help? The overall lack of actual teaching was really disappointing.

We not new to extra curriculum programs, but look out for your bank account and know what you signing up for financially and literally if you send your child here. I would definitely recommend this spot for active kiddos that enjoy getting their energy out. I have lived in RWC for a few years and had never been but it really is a great spot. Last summer she attended a one week gymnastics camp elsewhere so this is her second summer gymnastics camp. We couldn't really see what happens during the camp because of the gym layout even though there's a balcony where you can sit and watch - we didn't really feel welcome to do that. Thus I have no pictures to post. What has already been posted does give you an idea of the gym format. (I'm disappointed about this.) I am giving it 4 stars based on my granddaughters rating after she was done with the camp by asking her on a scale of 1 to 10 - what would she rate it? She said 8 and smiled. When we picked her up, she was always happy and did look forward to going. So that is a plus. It is hard to figure out if she learned anything because she is not one to be verbose when we asked her what she did. The only response I got was she did hand stands and demonstrated pike jumps. When I ask if she jumped in the pit or on the trampoline - all I got was one word- Yes, I also found out they do crafts every Thursday. Because there are so many kids in the camp (over 50+) from what I could tell, I was impressed that some staff call her by name. I learned they eat their snack and lunch outside in the parking lot and sit on the ground - so that's why she got sunburned (you will need to put sunblock on your child). It's also where you pick up your child as they line up in groups after you sign out your child on the clip board on the table. Even though the camp ends at 3pm- they are already ready for pickup as early as 2:50, sometimes 2:45, To summarize, I have no idea if she learned anything new. The important thing is my granddaughter enjoyed it.

Not explaining any of the moves, getting visibly frustrated with our daughter when she wasn't doing the movements just from hearing what to do on her SECOND week there. Mind you this was her first experience doing anything like this and had just turned 5. Then when the teachers (yes, plural) would get down on her level to show her, they'd aggressively grab her leg or arm and move it fairly rough to the position they wanted her in. They did this also with the split stretch -- which again, she'd never done before. I went and asked if they were supposed to know anything before this class because the way they were acting towards her was ridiculous. I told the front desk girl about it and she was surprised and brought it to the owners. My daughter cried when we got into the car, saying her teachers didn't like her and she didn't want to go back. The next class, she spoke to me and said that the teachers that were treating her like that were spoken to and it shouldn't happen again. That entire class she was there for that day, they would point at her and laugh (THE TEACHERS) when she was trying to do the movements, look at her after falling and roll their eyes and walk away. It was a NIGHTMARE. We never went back.

The teaching staff (at least for Level 1) has gone downhill since we started. My daughter has been in Level 1 prep for over two years because the teachers need to pay better attention to their students, and less attention to their cell phones, and to each other... The teacher we started with (Miss Izzy) is no longer at the school (went to college). The teaching staff has changed constantly since that change; we've seen 5-10 different girls teaching this class on a weekly basis. We recently visited another school (for just one hour) and with a little assistance our daughter was able to complete moves she was not receiving guidance on at VC. She is now rated Level 2, and is making huge strides and progress. We sent an email to the staff letting them know we were unhappy and that we were not renewing membership, in addition to addressing the above issues and received no phone call, or email back. This was upsetting since we had our two daughters there for quite a while, and had a good report with the front desk staff.

I understand the structure and discipline cheer has. But I will never let a person talk to my kids or other parents kids in that way. They are children! They will not stay still. I did not put my kids for competition which I found out later that the program cared for competing. I put them to expose them to something different something fun. Not to be yelled at and making them feel they can't do something right. Today not only was the coach 30 min late, she drove very fast into the drive way where all the kids and parents were waiting she also made hand movements from inside her car to move some parents including my husband out of her way. She then is upset at who know what. Kicks out the parents from the class to have a "private" class to. Only yell at the kids. Her loud voice was heard outside by parents which all had something to say among them. Same day, I had to withdraw my kids. I will never let any one talk to my kids that way. Get your anger and frustration out on yourself but not my kids or other kids. It's a shame and embarrassment to this organization. I will NOT be referring this program to any parents and I will let the principal at their school know the behavior this lady projects to the kids and family. This organization does not need the support from my children's school or community.

Ashley is so dedicated to her art, it is truly inspiring to see. Ashley taught me fundamentals of heels. Lines, techniques, walks, balance, control, transitions and during my 8th week into lessons, she taught my choreography and challenged me to come out to her Beginner's Class that is held every 1st & 3rd Fridays @ Trilliant Studio. Being in class gives me so much anxiety because I've always felt like I was the ugly duckling in a room full of amazingness that didn't have a space for me to belong. I've taken dance classes in the past and been on dance teams, but always felt like I was playing catch up. Ashley assured that her class is a safe place she's cultivated to allow students from all walks of life. And all working towards the same goal to self development, confidence, spirituality, and so much more! Because of how much improvements I've gone through in other areas of my life thanks to Ashley, I fought through my doubts and took a chance at her class. I'm sooooo happy I did that! Ashley is not like any instructors. She truly loves what she does and is connected to the true purpose of her why's. I was welcomed and even started making dance friends! I've never received such an overwhelming amount of love the way I did in her class, it made me want to come back and continue to step out of my comfort zone. I can't say enough great things about Ashley. She is an angel, and a bright light in this world. I highly recommend her privates because if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to learn her choreography with confidence. And even if you already have experience, give her class a chance and you won't regret it!
