I got a regular meat pie ($2.85), with spices but no lemon, and it was pretty good. The spices adds flavour, not really heat so don't shy away if you don't like hot spicy foods. I don't like added lemon juice because I find it makes the pie too sour, but most people add both lemon and spices. The pies have a generous amount of meat and the pastry isn't too thick, which is how I like it. It was crispy on the outside, but still a bit chewy on the inside. Definitely a solid Lebanese meat pie. Staff were nice. And I liked how they have a sink there and I saw staff washing their hands before preparing my food. Many Middle Eastern meat pie bakeries have their listed prices inclusive of taxes, but not here, their prices are before taxes. However, they do take plastic as well as cash, unlike some other places that only take cash (like Aladdin's) or only take plastic (like Bibi's). It's in a strip mall, so plenty of free parking in the strip mall parking lot.

I also took home an apple turnover but haven't tried it yet. You can order other savory items for lunch. There is a freezer for take home items. There are several tables that are always busy. The French music isn't too loud but quite nice. I introduced my friend to it who didn't know about it and she thanked the owner stating that Kanata/Stittsville needs more bakeries. We both left pleased. She also had an ice latte and an almond croissant. She gave it 5 stars. The prices are up there but competitive with similar places. Cleanliness is hard to keep up on when the bakery is full of people but they tried. The water jug up front never got refilled and that was the only thing I was missing as my cup never got to see any water. All good. We will be back.

I went in to take a look and ended up buying a salted caramel brownie ($3.25) and a pink cookie with white chocolate chips ($3.65). When you buy anything pink in the shop, 20% of the sales go to Breast Cancer Research (not sure if this is just for the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness month) or for always). The salted caramel brownie was phenomenal! So rich and buttery and filled with gooey salted caramel and chocolate chips. The cookie was good too, nice and chewy with lots of white chocolate chips, but the salted caramel brownie stole the show, for sure! Everything is baked by them, it is not one of those shops that buys stuff from Costco and resells them, lol, like some other shops in medical buildings. I was served by Esther herself, who is beyond lovely. She told me they recently opened 5 months ago and she's really trying to get the cafe more exposure through social media. She noticed my purse and told me she has the exact same one and brought hers out to show me. Immediately I knew this woman has good taste, lol. The cafe is super cute with a few seats to eat in. It's not too visible from the street, so just look for the medical/office building next to the Westgate Shopping Centre. There's free parking along the front of the building. The parking lot is actually quite large, but many spots are reserved for permit holders, so just look out for the signage. Esther's Cakes N Sweets is a gem. I also introduced them to my husband and my entire family and they all love them too. So it might come as no surprise that my mission is to try all the places that sell Lebanese meat pies in Ottawa. So when I found Lebanese Food Centre and Bakery on Google Maps, I made a note to check them out when I was next in the neighbourhood. I got 2 meat pies ($3.50 each). I ate one right away in the car, lol, and brought the other one home for my husband. I found the meat pie ok. These ones didn't have that smokey flavour that I love. And I feel it could have benefited from some spice. I did like that the dough wasn't too thick or fluffy. It was thin and slightly crispy on the outside. The amount of meat was good but I feel I would have liked more tomatoey tang. It's just personal preference but I like my Lebanese meat pies a bit spicy, tangy from the tomatoes with a touch of smokey flavour (I'm guessing from smoked paprika) and the one here didn't have those elements. The man serving me was very friendly and welcoming and I appreciated that. They are a small grocery store but also have fresh meats, and prepared foods. They sell rotisserie chicken, grilled chicken and skewered meats. They have a charcoal grill. And they have some sweets too. I saw Kunafe and Shaabiyat. I would return to try their desserts and maybe a shish tawook wrap or something else from their grill. They have a few picnic tables out front to eat at. They are located in a small plaza.
