I'll start by saying what a lovely experience. I've always loved horses and was so excited when my…read morefriend coordinated a day that we could go horseback riding. Fraziers' Homestead is a wonderful spot! We went during December, and honestly, the cold weather made it perfect (otherwise I'd be profusely sweating while riding). Our guide was friendly and constantly checked in on us and our horses to make sure we were getting the most from our trail ride. We even saw the owner and shared a good laugh about the "intricacies" of staying on top of the horse. The trail was pretty with bushes and trees filling the space and even a portion where we saw the rest of their horses- I miss it! My only critique would be that the trail ride, for me, was not as long as I would have liked. To be fair, though, I could ride alllll day. This place is great because once you're finished with your trail, you get to go back to their arena and practice riding and/or trotting some more. If you're curious about $$$, I would have no problem paying again. It was 3 of us, and I want to say it was about ~$67/person not including tip. I definitely hope to go back soon and who knows- maybe even get the same horse :).

Our horses were Girly and Teddy, and they were amazing along with the staff and our lovely guide Liz who made the entire experience seamless and comfortable. I had experience riding in the past, but this was my fiancés first time ever interacting with a horse and the care taken to get him on the perfect, most gentle fellow was appreciated. The only negative I can think of is I didn't get to bring the horses home! Facilities were very well maintained and the animals are well cared for and so healthy and beautiful. Thank you!

I visited this zoo way back in 2005. (twenty years ago, but…read morehey.. whatever.) It was just plain sad. While I now don't agree with the captive nature of zoos, I can say I have good reason not to after everything I saw here. (which I still have on video.) Now granted, it's possible that they are all no longer alive, but I'm just giving my observations from that time period. (I can't say much for the time that has passed since then, but I have doubts.) The tiger seemed to have a hip injury that prevented it from standing or walking. There was a bear that did nothing but pace back and forth like a robot. The spider monkeys just screamed and peed on each other. Flamingoes stayed in the trees and refused to come down (I didn't blame them) Peacocks roamed free around the crowds. There was an emu that stared me down (possibly wanting the candy I was eating but he couldn't catch the tram I was riding on at the time.) There was a zookeeper riding around on a zamboni-looking vehicle.. now I could be wrong, but it appeared to be one to me. What would a zoo in Baton Rouge need with a zamboni?? I really wanted to see the elephants as they are one of my most favorite animals, but they were M.I.A! I wanted to feed this one bird that was swimming in a lake, but there was only one dry pellet.. even the food machines were empty and most of the animals seemed to be starving. I didn't look at the reptile room, but I'm willing to bet that all the snakes were well-fed! And the most egregious offense?... they kept at least 3 fully-grown giraffes in a small, enclosed room. It was disgusting. Made me feel bad for the wildlife.. or the not-so-wild lives that are being wasted in an animal prison. My younger self wanted to go to see some animals, which I love. In hindsight, I now realize that it was actually an opportunity to see with my own eyes why animals should be respected and live their lives far away from humans and their unnecessary traps. Something I myself prefer to avoid at all costs. God Bless those poor souls, then and now.

This park looks like it's been revamped and been turned into a very beautiful setting for recreational purposes. A spectacular feature for the park is a very nice and well put together spray ground with playground equipment surrounding. There are lots of seating areas around the spray ground, some open to the sun, others covered by latticework structures, and yet still some close by that are covered. The park has a moon shaped lake with a walkway kind of like a Riverwalk or boardwalk that travels along side of it. There is a dock on one side of the lake ideal for fishing and a protrusion on the boardwalk section also ideal for fishing. There are plenty of public restrooms and water fountains all around the park. There are plenty of grass areas open for play like soccer or hitting baseballs. One of my favorite features is a calisthenics exercise area equipped with stairmaster elliptical leg machines also dip bars, pull up bars, and sit up benches. Another really nice feature is a gigantic, covered sandbox area where parents can sit on benches around the sandbox while children play. BREC has been putting together some extra exceptionally spectacular parks around Baton Rouge. If you get a chance to come experience this park, please do as you will not be disappointed.
