Ordered ribs and crispy chicken tender combo. Ribs are NOT "fall off the bone." Ends were very dry but center more tender and juicy. I oder the sauce on the side (dry) so that I can taste the meat and the meat also lacked overall flavor. Chicken tenders were average. Stooped in for lunch today. Monday after Thanksgiving so restaurant was not busy. I'm a fan of Cheddar's chicken tenders so ordered that with a Caesar salad and loaded baked potato (without sour cream). My wife ordered the fried shrimp with fries and a house salad. Before our drinks and salads arrived, the entrees were served. My baked potato (with sour cream) was not warm enough to melt the butter or cheese toppings, and the tenders were barely warm. My wife's fries were limp and cold. Her shrimp, however, arrived piping hot like we had hoped our entire meals had been. When the drinks and salads followed up 10 minutes later, the waitress offered to replace the fries. The salads were average, but fortunately they were as cold as the fries. As we muddled through our meal, we were blessed with our host and 2 coworkers vaping away their health outside our window. Since it was in the mid 30s, I'm certain they, too, were as cold as our fries. As we finished our entree, the waitress arrived with the long lost replacement fries. My wife explained that we were finished which caused the server to explain the delay was due to having to "drop in a new batch of fries". Kitchen lingo, I guess. As I paid the bill, my wife tasted a newly arrived fry, only to find that it only moderately warmer than the original order. I left a tip far higher than what was deserved and we were on our way with our hunger only slightly more satisfied than on our arrival. My final thought is the staff at this location would greatly benefit from some training and adult supervision. read more

I have been to this restaurant on several occasions while in town on business. I like the food and keep going back because of that, but the service is usually very slow. However,this time was different. For some reason, I am usually seated in the bar area, even though I don't drink. Tonight,I was seated on the restaurant side and I seem to of made a big difference in the level of service provided. I have always enjoyed the croissant that is their trademark. This time it was a work of art, with a topping drizzled very meticulously over it. By the time I thought to take a picture, I was halfway through it. For my entrée,I had the grilled chicken Alfredo, which was served very quickly by Jason. He was attentive but not intrusive. Despite the Alfredo in its name, this is a very light dish, with lots of vegetables and grilled chicken t As I said, best experience ever at this restaurant, I will be bacOssed with penne. We had a very disappointing date night here, and I believe the overall quality has declined as this used to be a restaurant we enjoyed. The restaurant was not very full and waits on drinks and food were very long so I suspect there may have been some staffing issues. We order two cocktails which took about 20minutes to come out, along with our appetizer a few minutes after. Besides the confusingly long wait, the cocktails tasted good and the appetizer was good. I ordered a 14oz Medium Rare Ribeye and this is where the issues began. The steak was seemingly over cooked on one side with not much attention to the back side. The overcooked side of the steak was a hard, crunch texture while the inside was cooked completely until halfway where it was all pink through. I've noticed other pictures similar to mine concerning the steak. It didn't taste good so I did not eat it. Our waiter took the steak off the bill and at the time that seemed appropriate but looking back in very dissatisfied with how this situation was handled. I feel as if a manger should have came out or maybe even something subtle like offering a new one since the previous one was removed. We then ordered a dessert through the touch monitor (I try to avoid ordering through these usually) and there must have been some confusion because that took a very long time to come out and we had to "Call our Waiter" on the touchscreen to inform him we had an order placed for quite some time. We were looking for a spontaneous dinner dater with a few drinks and plenty of food and instead I feel like I spent $60 just to eat some chicken tenders, artichoke dip, wait forever for a drink, and overall feel like I got ripped off. Came here for dinner with a group of 26 people. We were attending a professional conference and decided to do at least one group dinner together. Environment: I liked the light and fun atmosphere of the place and they had music playing when we walked in. They managed to fit our group of people in an area that looked sectioned off but we had to split into groups at different tables. Food: I would call it mediocre at best. Food was practically tasteless on my plate and I had steak! It also was not cooked well. I asked for a medium-rare I got well done. I finished my food because I was starving and the portion was good and filling especially for the price. None of the people at my table finished their food (bc of taste not portion) and one girl refused to eat after 2 bites. I don't think it was as terrible as their reaction but I was very disappointed. My friend was disappointed at the Shepard pie because...well it didn't look like a Shepard pie. It didn't even have the pie crust!! I ran into the same problem when I ordered an apple pie for dessert...it was a plate with ice cream and cooked apples on it and a very very very little amount of what I think was pie crust. Service: I was glad the server remembered to take my dessert order after the meal. I thought she'd forget cuz she wouldn't take the order with my regular order. Our 23rd Anniversary dinner. From the honey butter croissants to the meals we ordered, it's obvious that this Cheddar's has taken a few steps backwards in service & food. The croissants were smaller, not flaky at all, and basically just little strips of sweetened dough. Very disappointing, considering the last time we had them they were mouth-watering. This time, to me, they were mouth-closing. I couldn't even finish mine. The meals were disappointing as well. Hubby got the salmon, side salad, and broccoli casserole. The salmon was just ok, kind of dry, not their best. And not even a normal looking filet - it was an end piece - triangle-shaped. The skin was hard and crusty with the fish on that side having to be picked off - sure sign of overcooked fish. He didn't even finish the broccoli casserole, saying it wasn't very good. And he loves broccoli. I wanted the T- bone but they were out of it, so I got the ribeye, MEDIUM RARE. With side dishes of mashed potatoes and gravy, and their wonderful green beans I used to rave about. Dinner took quite some time to come out. Finally, it came. The ribeye was burnt on the sides, was no where near being medium rare, and looked like medium well , except for 2 bites in the center. It was really thin for a 14oz ribeye, which should tip off any chef that it shouldn't take long to cook it to medium rare. It tasted ok, like a steak, but had no seasoning whatsoever- not even much salt. So I looked forward to the mashed & gravy, except the mashed was luke-warm, and it was a scoop the size of what you'd see on a child's plate. The little bowl of gravy dwarfed the measly scoop of potatoes, but was at least hot, so that I could dip the potatoes in. The green beans were a very tiny amount on the plate. They used to come in their own bowl. They looked very different from what I'd had several times before, but not much seasoning, not cooked with ham or ham broth like their usual, and tough. Like green beans left too long on the vine. And very wide cuts of them. Not like typical green beans. Our waitress came around & even she noticed the steak was too done, although didn't offer any suggestions. I wouldn't have waited another half hour for it to be re-done anyway. So, we won't be back. We had at first decided to go to either Red Lobster or The Mason Jar. Wish we had. Very sad that this Cheddar's has gotten this bad. read more

I specifically requested not to over cook salmon, asked for slaw with vinegar dressing as the server described it to be, & no rice. Plate came out 45 min. later with French fries (which I did not ask for), rice, over cooked over cooked salmon, slaw made with mayo & over cooked broccoli (almost mushy). Salmon, slaw, & broccoli were re-plated. When I paid bill with cash, I received the difference minus change. I brought it to server's attention, she replied she did not know I wanted the change (coins). My attention was over the change & did not notice I was short changed by $20. Manager was notified. I could not stop by the restaurant the next day as the manager suggested since I was just passing through the city. Learned a lesson not to set foot at Cheddars Restaurant. read more

It's with mixed emotions we award this Cheddar's a 3-star rating. On a positive note, it's likely the best chain in the area. The food is much better than Chilis, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and the other chains in this area and it's the most affordable, bringing a tremendous amount of value. Where else can you order a chicken dish that brings two sides and two pieces of decent chicken for less than $10? Meanwhile, the few times I've been here over the years, the service has been suspect. Last week, they sat us at a table than hadn't been wiped down (there was sticky, slimy stuff on it and simply getting a refill was a chore. In fact, we ordered our meal and 20 minutes later the waitress came back to ask us if it was ok that the chicken pot pie was going to take 20 minutes or if we wanted to order something else. And, she meant 20 more minutes, but had forgot to come back and ask us. We switched to a burger, which she said would be ready in five minutes. You guessed it, 20 minutes later we asked another server to check on our food. Meanwhile, the food at Cheddar's isn't bad. In fact, for a fast food chain, it's pretty good. The chicken dishes, the salads and the Cajun catfish are solid and more than affordable. I keep reverting to value. That's the best aspect in this casual chain. The trick is getting a good server. Our server Alexia was super attentive and did a great job. The sweet tea is super yummy! The chips and queso are amazing as well as the ribs! We got the ribs and chicken tender combo and the tilapia and shrimp with mango salsa. The ribs were very tender and had a great taste! The chicken tenders have a different breading than most but they are phenomenal! The tilapia is very good but very spicy! The shrimp was not very good, it was not hot and was sort of slimy inside like it wasn't cooked all the way. The baked potatoes were good! Not a fan of the Mac and cheese. It has a nice atmosphere but is very loud! Would be good for a family meal. They also have a bar area where there is first come first serve seating that was not on a wait. If I could give it a zero stars I would. We placed an pick up order at 4:25. It was supposed to be ready at 4:55. We went to the restaurant and called in. Told them our parking spot and waited about 20 minutes. I noticed other cars pulling in, getting their orders and leaving. I waited another 15 minutes and then called inside to see what was going on. The gentleman who answered was extremely rude. Told me that they were very busy inside and that they would be out with my order when it was ready and hung up the phone. Now I am getting frustrated, I have 2 children in the car who are hungry. It is 5:45 and I finally catch the person who is bringing the carry out food to the cars and ask her if she knows what is going on with my order. She said that something happened to the burgers and they had to redo them. It would have been nice if someone came and told me that. So we waited. At 6:30 I walked in and asked if I could speak to a manager. The same gentleman who answered the phone and was rude was inside and was again rude and said that they were extremely busy and it would be a while before a manager could come and talk to me. Really?! He then started saying things under his breath and was rolling his eyes and the two females told him to stop and walk away. He then said my food was done and taken outside to my car. Finally at 6:45 a manager came out and I told him what was happened and how nothing was explained about there being a problem with my meal being done wrong, about how rude the gentleman was and how disappointed I was. Then what comes out my food which I was told was already outside...and the burgers that were just redone were cold! There is no way that they were just cooked. Our entire meal was cold! The food is quite good and they have certain things you cannot find at most American traditional restaurants such as Shepards pie. Due to COVID, it looked like the restaurant was seating at half capacity. Waited 20 minutes for a table. Once seated, at a dirty table, waited 10 minutes for a server. Waited 40 minutes for food. Waitress had to put the croissants into the oven herself. Saw the manager, only once, walking through the restaurant. Ordered carrots as a side dish and was told they'd take an additional 20 minutes to make. Husband asked for ketchup when we finally received our food and was done with his meal before the ketchup arrived. Asked for an extra plate, never got it. Ordered a slice of cheesecake and it was bland and chewy. Took the waitress an additional 10+ minutes to cash us out. After an hour and 20 minutes, we were finally out of there and never going back. read more

That didn't mean there wasn't a wait for tables already at 4:00 on a Friday evening, so we sat in the bar area. One then I was impressed with were the prices. Most dinners, which included two sides, were under $12. There was also a wide variety. I ordered the country fried chicken because that is something I just don't see on menus often. This is where the visit lost stars. Our server seemed frazzled and sometimes non existent. When I asked to order, he said "oh, I forgot you haven't yet" (I still had a menu). Then it took quite some time to get anything that I wanted/needed, and often I had to ask several times. He'd often walk past with a water pitcher but not fill our glasses. Even when you are really busy, you can still take the time to stop by and make sure everything is ok. I also asked for an extra side of gravy that I never received. The food itself was tasty. The piece of chicken was huge, but the sides were tiny. Maybe two or three forkfuls. They were, however, super tasty. I chose the macaroni and cheese and the broccoli casserole. Overall, it was a pleasant and affordable dining experience. I just wish we had better service and bigger sides. read more

This cheddars in Morgantown was out of everything starting with the freebie croissants. They didn't have baked potatoes or mashed potatoes or green beans or a host of other Things. There was a newbie in the kitchen who did not even know that a Montecristo comes with raspberry preserves and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The waitress was not the problem, she did all she could really do with what she had to work with. This was 100% purely a case of bad management. A good manager would have gone to the grocery store and bought what they needed but not here. The choice will be easy next time, going to Wheeling. read more
