My second visit to the McDonough location in 2 weeks. Not by MY choice. Both times, service was a "miss". Both visits when we received our food, no one came to check to make sure things were right. Things weren't right either time and I practically had to scream for the waitress who was buzzing by us in order to get simple compliments. On Saturday, May 10, 2014, We visited Cheddar's in McDonough, GA for an early Mother's Day lunch with family. We were told it would be 30-45 minutes before we'd be seated, which we completely understood and were absolutely okay with. We had a party of 8 and were ask if we wanted to sit together or would 2 booths be okay. We told them that no, we did not want 2 booths, that we wanted to sit together. Again, we were told it would be about 30-45 minutes. Again, we were fine with this. 45 minutes later, we were taken to 2 booths where they attempted to seat us. When we told them, AGAIN, that we had already stated we did not want 2 booths, the girl got very snippy with us and told us she didn't understand what the big deal was, and she didn't know what "together" meant that written beside our name. So again, we waited...for another 50 minutes. At this point we've been waiting to be seated for over an hour and a half. When we were finally seated, the waitress was extremely rude and disrespectful from the start. **The only thing I can think is she knew she was getting a tip regardless of her service because the tip was already going to be added to the check since we had a party of 8**. When she took our order, she acted as though it was inconvenient that 2 members of our party ask for a salad, and yes we knew it was going to cost extra. We had to ask FOUR TIMES for silverware, and when we finally received silverware (after we'd had our salads for nearly 5 minutes), we had to send 4 sets back because they were dirty. As if this experience hadn't already been a complete nightmare, we waited for an HOUR...AN HOUR... for our food WHICH WAS COLD AND NOT COOKED RIGHT. Of the three steaks that were ordered, only ONE was actually cooked close to the way it was ordered. One steak was ordered medium-rare with loaded baked potato and corn. What was received was one steak cooked medium with wonderfully COLD potato and corn. The other 2 steaks were both ordered medium-well and both steaks were still oozing blood when they were brought out. One individual had ordered the loaded baked potato and broccoli as well as an extra salad. What he received was a 13 oz steak cooked rare with nothing else. When he ask where his sides were, the waitress actually argued with him that he did not, in fact, order the sides, but rather only ordered the salad. The other person who ordered the steak wanted it cooked medium-well with loaded potato and broccoli. What she received was the 8 oz steak cooked rare along with the sides she ordered. When BOTH people complained about the undercooked steaks, the waitress said "So what do you want? You want me take it back and put back on the grill until it's how you want it?" SERIOUSLY????? Not only is that a health violation, it's also unprofessional. Next, after waiting for an hour for our food, you'd think it'd be so piping hot that we'd need to wait for it to cool off. Unfortunately, this was not the case. In fact, most of food was cold. In the hour we waited for our COLD, wrongly prepared food to arrive, we received exactly ZERO drink refills and saw our waitress TWO times...when she brought the salads and when she brought our silverware. The dirty silverware and subsequent silverware we received was given to and replaced by a different server. At this point, we ask to speak to the manager. It took almost 20 minutes for the manager to finally be found (This is what we were told...they were looking for him, but couldn't find him). When he came to the table, be offered to take the food back and have it remade, but at this point those of us who actually could eat, were basically finished eating. It was then requested to just remove the 2 meals from the tickets and bring us our checks. This took yet another 20 minutes, during which time we did not see a waitress at all. During our entire time at this restaurant, we received ONE drink refill. ONE. In more than 2 hours of being there, we received ONE refill. This is completely unacceptable. read more

Our wait time was a little long but once we were seated the whole experience was beyond our expectations. Our server suggested the spinach dip which came out quickly and we devoured it immediately. This was our first time here and I was expecting a lot based on the ambiance of the restaurant. We ordered our food, but when it arrived, it wasn't right. We ordered chicken tenders buffalo style, which hey didn't come out buffalo style and also I had ordered coleslaw which didn't arrive with my dinner. This restaurant was my all time favorite restaurant on my side of town until recently. My family and I frequented the restaurant every other Sunday since we could not get enough of their lightly buttered croissants. I don't know if it's new management, lack of staff or increase in customers but the quality of the service and food has decreased drastically. So I grabbed my kids and drove 30 minutes to this restaurant, I'm super excited after missing a few Sundays since we moved. I pulled up to the restaurant and almost every parking lot was filled. I did not let that discourage me because I had just driven 30 minutes to get here, and had two kids in the backseat "ready to eat ". Once we entered the young lady at the door directed us to a table on the side of the bar. She took us to a high table with four separate chairs. I have a 16 months old baby in my arms along with a five year old ( I'm sure my five year old and I could have toughed it out ) but did she really think that I would sit there with my toddler ? So I politely relayed to her that we could not sit there , and that it wasn't safe for my baby. She said "well you're gonna have to wait there till I find something ". Still in shock I calmly shook my head in agreement. Another gentleman came to me asking if I needed help , I explained my dilemma and he lead me to an obvious empty both , which had another empty both behind it. He took my appetizers and walked away. He brought them back in a timely manner and although it wasn't prepared how I requested it , we sat and ate it. So we are sitting there for over 30 minutes and no one came to take our entree orders. My kids are annoyed and I'm beyond frustrated. The young man who brought our appetizers came back from break and noticed us while I was just about to get up and leave ( bare in mind the only reason I'm still here because we drove all the way here and we are hungry ). He asked if everything was okay and once again I explained the rest of my dilemma. He apologized profusely and put in our orders. My food came out and after waiting so long I was extremely disappointed. The food just wasn't the same. My ribs were dry , my fries were cold and obviously stale , the cole slaw was dry and I was upset. Since I was so hungry , I ate as much as I could stomach ( plus we waited so long ). I tipped the young man because he tried his best. So I was ignored in a very open part of the restaurant with two kids for over 30 minutes , the food wasn't great and their sitting choice for my family obviously didn't make any sense.
