We decided to eat here before going to the movies. The waiter seemed pleasant, but forgot to give us straws with our drinks. No big deal, right? Honest mistake. Next, he had a table next to ours and he was letting us know every now and then how long it would be for our food to come out, but failed to notice I needed a refill - even with the glass at the edge of the table. He also never brought plates for our appetizer or the extra napkins I asked for like he said he would. So, my husband got his attention and asked for a refill. He responded with a sharp, "WHAT?!" Wow...okay. So next, my steak was overcooked so I let him know nicely. Before I could finish my sentence, he said,"WHAT?!" again and then said, "Yeah, it is." and went to tell the kitchen staff. Next thing I know I see him off in the distance talking to the manager with gestures as if we are problem customers. The manager comes over and asks if everything is okay, so I tell him about the overcooked steak. My husband didn't want to send his cold, overcooked potatoes back for fear of getting "the special," so we didn't mention that. I got a perfectly cooked steak to replace the overcooked one, but had to ask for my side dish the manager took away. The manager was pleasant, but the service in general was just - off! We're usually pretty good tippers - we START at 20% and go UP from there generously if service is above average. We were so annoyed and disappointed with the service and food that we only tipped 10%. The restaurant was loud and I couldn't hear my family who were sitting right next to me. The cheese bites were said to be customer favorite but they were cold, the steak one of my family members got was rare and well done at the same time when she asked for medium well. Then when asked for management he came nothing was really resolved but he came to the table. My salmon was over cooked and gave me a teaspoon of rice. Overall I will not return to this location. Their prices are really good and the portion sizes are awesome. In the past I have gotten the steak and chicken tenders combo which is really good! They always cook the steak correctly and it's well seasoned. Today we got the triple treat sampler which came with Wisconsin cheese bites, which were basically small mozzarella sticks but with crispier batter and were a little bland, chicken strips, which had a good ratio of chicken to breading and a delicious honey mustard dipping sauce, and loaded potato skins, which were the best of the three because they were perfectly cooked and the balance of potato and toppings was good. I also got the lunch combo, which was a good price at 8.99. You got to chose which two items you wanted and I chose the loaded baked potato and the cheese burger. The loaded baked potato was salted well and buttery with lots of toppings. The cheese burger was well cooked and tasted great! I love how they put the toppings on the side so that you can add as much or little as you want. I asked for extra pickles and man did they listen! I got a ton of pickles!! While we were there we got really hot and the staff was really nice and turned the heat down when we asked! She was also very helpful and answered questions I had about the menu. I know everyone is suffering through this terrible Covid mess and so glad they are able to keep some of their people working , but this was VERY sad. I wish I had gone across the street to canes. Ordered the family bundle chicken finger meal. This picture was part that came in 4 boxes (it said 16 fingers and two family size sides) it was 4 to go boxes. They were out of broccoli cheddar and two other sides, so we were stuck with corn and friens. VERY puny scoops in each box and as you can see chicken fingers were NOTHING like the normal breeding. I noted last time that the noise level was very high and it was again today. At times it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Our server took our orders in a timely fashion. Recently decided to come back to cheddars. Food was mediocre, service was great! The most interesting thing was an interaction between employees and a manager. In my line of work we stay professional at all times. this was very flirtatious, aggressive! Wow! We were watching silently as the woman spoke rudely to one of the girl employees and the next,She was flirting with the boy employees ! I asked our server about her and found out she was a manager! Wow! Wow! Danielle, please keep the aggressiveness and rudeness to yourself. If Darden company allows their employees to conduct themselves this way, we would prefer not to support. After a rough start to lunch today. (We had to ask another server to find our server and then when that didn't work, we had to ask for a manager to get a server - after sitting almost 10 min at the table, and super thirsty.) BUT our server showed up before the manager did and from then on, we had great service. Our appetizer of spinach dip was comped by the manager for our initial wait on service and we appreciated it. Also Proof that I eat vegetables sometimes, lol. They were busy because our entrees took almost 30 min to come out but it was hot when we got it and tasted delicious. Josh was a very attentive and personable server. I had my "go to" of Buffalo Chicken Wrapper (today with broccoli cheese casserole) SO good!! Don't know how it stays open. I gave a bad review a few years and haven't changed much. The fries on my platter were old and cooked in over used oil. The shrimp was cooked well on the outside but little doughy on the inside. The potato soup was super thick and barely warm. Ehhh. I usually start with service so I'll start there, service can make or break an experience. I'm happy to say the service here was great during the visit. Our waitress was nice, attentive, and kept us hydrated the entire time, what wasn't super top notch was the food here. Not a whole lot to say, the tenders were a little over cooked, they didn't taste very good, and they were very small. Cheddar's chicken tenders are usually much bigger, and much much tastier so I'm not sure what went wrong here. I will say their spinach Alfredo dip was absolutely incredible. Cheddars is always reliable, cheap, fast, and consistent. The food and service is generally pretty damn good too. My most recent trip was with a group of 10 for a work function. We were promptly seated, albeit, the area was small. Drinks and apps came quick enough except for one person who continually was forgotten. The 10 entree order took a little more time. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food although no one finished their meal. I had the tilapia and shrimp with green beans and carrots. The tilapia was a little bland for my liking, but the shrimp were delicious. If you need a quick bite and don't mind a chain, Cheddars should be on your list. read more

Our server was energetic and seemed happy to see us and happy to be there. The food came out quickly and portion sizes were large. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was huge. I couldn't finish it, and it was a bit tough to chew. There's certainly something for everyone with thier broad menu. That being said the food is average and I am always surprised how there's usually a line out the door to get into this place. For this visit we arrived in the "early bird" time, and while I ordered off the early bird menu, I did not get the discounted rate when the bill came...but my waiter overall was so nice I wasn't even going to debate the couple of dollars. First, I'd like to discuss the name change from "Cheddars Casual Cafe" to "Cheddars Scratch Kitchen". In 2015, Darden bought Cheddars and decided to do a "rebranding". That's fine, but literally the only thing that changed was the name. How do I know? I worked there 11 years ago and not only is the food the same, I'm pretty sure the fish in the filthy fish tank are also the same . It's also pretty pathetic when a rebranding is also a complete lie. None of their food is made "from scratch" because they definitely get a truck every week that brings mostly everything frozen and pre-packaged. Sure, they may prep the salad ingredients and other necessary additions to the food, but everything down to the salad dressing comes on a delivery truck every week. Maybe they need to look up the meaning of "scratch" because they have microwaves everywhere. Next, I'd like to touch on the roach infestation I've noticed the last couple of years. They aren't shy and they do come out into the dining room and into your booth. It's disturbing and just like a chain to have that problem. Additionally, I believe their worst struggle is their wait staff. A few weeks ago, I went with a friend and we probably waited 15 minutes after we were seated to be acknowledged. Managers and servers just walked by and looked as though they took pity on us because my friend and I just sat there waiting for a cold beverage. This evening we went only because my boyfriend's mom wanted to go there. Our server had to have been high or just a complete moron. He auctioned off our drinks to us because he forgot who orderd what and he did the same with our food. When he delivered our food, he flat out refused to take my boyfriend's salad bowl because he "had to go back and get our drink refills"....that makes no sense. He also never took a single plate from our table, including the salad bowl. I also saw him request two people sitting behind us to move to a smaller booth because he wanted more people to sit at the larger booth (which was the hostess' fault). Went to dinner with some friends last evening and we decided to try Cheddar's. It had been a while for our family, but our friends frequent the establishment quite often. A good sign about a restaurant is looking at the parking lot (more cars - usually a good sign the food is good). We went to dinner around 5:45 PM and the parking lot was packed. There were people waiting inside for a seat. Luckily our friends arrived at 5:30 and were able to get a table with a short wait. We had chips and salsa as an appetizer and they were delicious. When our chips got low, the waiter ensured that we got more chips and kept the chips plentiful. Definitely try their sweet tea - perfect flavor and not too sweet! For the meals, ordered the vegetable plate with a side salad with honey mustard dressing. For the vegetable plate, had sides of broccoli casserole, French fries, black beans and rice. The temperature of the food was perfect and the flavors were spot on. After dinner, decided to walk around as my 3 year old was intrigued by the fish tank. The restaurant has a good atmosphere inside - the fish tank was great to see as well as the fan with the unique fan blades. I just got off work and was looking for a nice dinner for my boyfriend and I , so we decided to go to cheddars. Knowing only a limited amount of restaurants are open(because quarantine) , we were hoping they would have our order ready on time. Time of pickup was 8:00 pm(curbside). I had gone home, taken my dogs to the dog park(30 min) showered(10 min) , left 10 minutes after that and drove 10 minutes to get there. So we call at 8:00 saying we are here and they say they will bring it "right out". We've seen 1 guy bring someone half of their order , and we still haven't gotten ours. It is now 8:31 , there are 4 cars waiting and no one has been served. It's also starting to storm which was the whole point in this being a quick transaction. We've already paid so we can't leave and are sitting here. I really LOVED cheddars before this , I work retail so I know things are tough right now but I feel like they were unprepared to reopen and are not taking proper precautions. Also half the employees masks are worn under their noses, again as a retail worker I know how hot it is when you're talking so much but you aren't protecting yourself or others if you aren't covering your nose also. Won't be going back ITS NOW BEEN 40 MINUTES. One person just got their order finally. We called and asked what was going on ( I really don't want my food to be cold). Lol just got it. It's cold.
