I know these are extraordinary times... so I give places a lot of grace. But we ordered a family bundle with burgers, a 2 liter of sprite, and a chips and queso. We didn't get the fries or the drink. The burgers were salty and over cooked. The queso was great. Since they put it in the back of my car to avoid contact, so I didn't realize all that was missing until I got home. We went with visiting family on my daughter's suggestion because she liked it when she ate at Cheddar's on a date. The good: meatloaf and broccoli cheese casserole were great. Friend said cajun pasta was good. Daughter said buffalo wrap was good but not great. She seemed disappointed after her last trip where she had a bourbon pork chop that was no longer on the menu. The fair: I was seated before the 2 people with me as they were parking the car. Hostess said she'd be sure to get them to the table, but they were left wandering the restaurant. Waiter wasn't terribly friendly and seemed genuinely annoyed about my daughter asking that the cabbage be left off her buffalo wrap. The bad: other daughter asked for a chicken alfredo pasta to be brought home. It was horrid. She couldn't even eat it so I tried it. Unbelievable. Pre-cooked Tyson formed chicken strips, "alfredo" that was utterly tasteless (I've had jarred alfredo that was infinitely better), and the dish was bulked up with baby carrots! Who does that?! In alfredo pasta? Twelve bucks for something I could have made at home...better...for about $3. I'm really not motivated to return. We decided to give this location another try since the first time was not good. This time we waited for service for 20 minutes after sitting down and finally when someone came we were ready to order. I ordered a Rasberry Ice tea and sirloin steak with a baked potato & carrots. My wife ordered the same. My steak was so tough I almost chocked on it going down. The potato and carrots were good but the steak was the worst I have ever had!!! My wife declined to eat hers! I was going to complain about it but the server never came back to check on us and when he did he brought us the check. When he asked how our dinner was I said it was the Worst one I have eaten and he never said a word other than to hand us our bill! This is near family so we meet here (too) often. The twins are great servers. I can't say the same for others but those two ladies are attentive and deserve the recognition! My main complaint comes with the consistency. Portions and prices are still a great value in my opinion, but one day your broccoli casserole is perfect blend of cheese sauce, broccoli, rice, etc. and sometimes it is a dry, overcooked mess! They used to have house-made French and Thousand Island, but not anymore. So the big pretty side salads don't get ordered as often. read more

I've been here a few times with the family - the service is always hit or miss...actually, service was great one time and ok to horrible the other 4 times. The most recent visit was the worse...while it only took 5 minutes to be seated on a Sunday evening, we waiting around 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken then another 15 minutes for our dinner order to be taken. My parents love this place...as they love every chain restaurant out there. Driving into a busy strip mall where there are dozens of these places and at 6pm there is a 30 min wait? for what? I was curious. As I totally understand that places such as this adopt the turn and burn method, our server was beyond rude with his rushed b.s. And the food. Some of the worst. I ordered a salad and it's hard to ruin a salad...I thought. The chicken pecan salad. Grilled chicken...old and rubbery. Some sort of lettuce...I couldn't tell as it was old and mostly brown...like 4 candied pecans. In most places..that salad would not have been served. Gross. The whole experience was gross...menus that were sticky. Food looked bad. I figured out why people flock here. Our party of 6...the total was $62. It is like fast food crap served in a dimly lit restaurant. And this is what people wait 30 minutes for? Wow. Was in the mood for an affordable, quick bite to eat. Didn't have to wait too long and the hostesses were very friendly. Service was good even though they were very busy. I had the chicken fried steak with green beans. It was delicious, had to ask for more gravy :) Husband has the steak and ribs, which he loved. We ordered the chocolate cake for dessert. It was one of the largest desserts ever. Husband loved it, I wasn't as much of a fan because it was a little dry to me-still at it it though ;) The best part was our bill was under $40, and that included a beer too. Ordered takeout. Baked potato was cooked about half way and hard. Chicken tenders tasted like they had been cooked in a vat of oil that had been sitting for weeks. After each bite there was just a weird aftertaste. Finished half of the meal and felt sick the rest of the night. Would not recommend ordering from this location. Food was very poor. read more

I am a regular customer at Cheddars but that all ended tonight. We were seated in an area that was freezing and the cold air was blowing away. (There's snow on the ground by the way.) Three managers and nobody would do anything about it. One was ridiculously rude and could care less. The other gave some bogus story about workers on the roof trying to fix the problem. I went here for a weekday lunch with a group of 8. It was fairly busy a bit before noon but we had an attentive and competent server for our two booths. I have no complaints at all about the service (including the fast arrival of our food) and would rate our particular server an A+ The appetizer spinach dip was good, plenty of spinach and served fast. The prices were fine, there was a good range of options within the $6-8 range for sandwiches/soups/salads. But the real issue for me was that my food was stunningly bland. Not bad tasting, in fact there was barely any taste at all. How can a club sandwich not taste like turkey, ham, bacon or the "flavoured mayo" (which was no where to be seen)? Kroger smoked turkey deli meat has more flavour. The tiniest amount of tomato and bacon were there and the large amount of ham was so flavourless I couldn't tell if it was honey baked or smoked style. But.... it was friendly and fast service and didn't break the bank. I wouldn't avoid this place if someone else was set on it, but I wouldn't be hankering to visit it either. read more

I have always been a Cheddars fan, but have to admit I don't go as often here as I did when I lived near one in Lexington, just because there are so many fabulous restaurant options nearby! I have been to this location at least half a dozen times, both for business lunches and dinners out. Cheddars is spot on for large portions at a very reasonable price and good service. I can't remember a time I ever had a bad experience at any location here or in Lexington. The spinach dip is my favorite by far of any restaurant, and I have quite a few favorites that I've ordered many a time throughout the years - the buffalo chicken wrap, chicken pasta Caesar salad, and Dijon chicken are all consistently good and don't disappoint! The only downfall, which seems crazy to say, is that the food comes out so fast you can't enjoy one thing before the next! Great for lunch hour, but pace your ordering if you're trying to enjoy some time. read more

I've come here several times, always hoping for a good experience. I think, for the most part, the food is okay. Good catfish, but the tilapia and salmon are okay. What actually prompted me to write a review is the women's restroom. The doors on the stalls are so ill fitting, there's no privacy. Customers using the facilities prior to my arrival could not figure out how to get the water to turn off. Not their fault, there's no hard stop as you would expect. I highly recommend fixing the bathroom faucets in the women's restroom. We do not want to hamper good hygiene. read more

We usually avoid this place because after three visits the service is always painfully slow. This time on a not so busy night, it was fine. Food was good. I had the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious!! Our appetizer of queso came with most of the chips in broken small pieces and we didn't have enough chips to finish our queso appetizer. Maybe I had low expectations, but this is a great value! I didn't realize that Cheddar's was pretty much on the whole Eastern side of the States. My first experience was at this Louisville location. There aren't many too close to Detroit. I would stop into any Cheddar's based on this visit. Key West Chicken & Shrimp with Pineapple Pico de Gallo atop rice. Picked my two sides of Sweet Carrots and Homemade Black Beans. - main dish and beans had a nice kick! Carrots were definitely sweet... too sweet for me. Decent portion size. Chicken Fried Steak is hand battered and served with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and Texas toast. I respect that they put the chicken over the toast. The toast would've soaked up any grease, but there was none. And whoever made that chicken hand battered it with love. My husband said that the gravy was out of this world! The dinner portion is HUGE. Watch out now! Mac and Cheese was delicious, but my offspring could not get down with that or the yogurt & apple medley. Maybe next time! She ended up eating some of the chicken fried steak without the breading. They serve a variety alcohol. Decent beer selection if you like Fat Tire or New Castle. I tried a Cheddar's Painkiller. Mostly tasted like a bunch of coconut rum. It was garnished with a nice piece of pineapple and a maraschino cherry on a plastic sword with dried coconut pieces to rim the glass. No complaints. Our server Meghan was nice and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. Restaurant furniture was mediocre... a Ram's Horn with more brick and plants, but less lighting. Absolutely a horrible experience! Haven't been to Cheddars in months but a friend and I decided to go for a quick bite to eat. We waited about 10 mts for a table-the place had empty tables/booths so it wasn't jammed packed. An hour after being seated we had yet to receive our order. Waitress was nice, apologetic and keeping us informed on 3 separate occasions. "Sorry orders are slow, there are 4 tickets ahead of yours, then much later it was 1 ticket was ahead, then we asked "how long will it be". After several mts of waiting to hear how long, we reached out to another wait staff (our waitress had yet to return) and asked to speak to manager. Another wait staff stopped by and said "the manager wants to know what you want-he is really busy". That is a direct quote!!! I get it. Restaurants can have an off day-be short staffed, etc... Be upfront with your customers...Never tell a customer you're too busy to talk to them...We left the restaurant and don't plan to return anytime soon! Westport road location read more

Man o man... So disappointed... Ordered Catfish with Red Beans and Rice every time I ate here for years, it was always delicious, the Main reason I go / went to Cheddars. I came in as always, didn't look at the menu and ordered as usual. It was not good and a much smaller portion, I was wondering what was going on, I looked at my receipt and saw "white fish" and thought she must have heard me wrong. I don't usually complain so I didn't say anything. I just went back today and looked at menu... no catfish ... no red beans and rice .... I asked the waiter and he said they were told it was the same thing and they are just calling it that. NO WAY! Not even close. I don't know why they took such a great dish off the menu. Cheddars is a decent chain. The food is average, a little bland in flavor but their drinks are solid. I've now been to this location twice and the service was terrible. Setting the tray on the table, always forgetting items, and both times the food was brought out in parts so some of my party had to wait to eat. They go through the motions but they don't care, typical chain mentality. I gave them an extra star because Cheddar's does the "side plate" where you can get 4 sides for around $8 and their sides are pretty good. Wish more places did that. read more

The entire floor was filthy and this was 11:15am so they had just opened. The restroom had not been cleaned in awhile. They've changed the menu and the food was mediocre. Went on a busy Friday night. We had about a five minute wait to get in, but the hostesses were very sweet and let us look at a menu while we waited. Our server was outstanding, she greeted us almost immediately and was back with our drinks and appetizer in no time. I had the Key West Chicken and Shrimp which was very good. The chicken was marinated and was very flavorful. My cousin had the Monte Cristo, which is a heart attack on a plate but very delicious; it's basically a battered and fried club sandwich with powdered sugar on top, so the taste is a mix of funnel cake and hot ham and cheese. Very, very good--he let me have a piece. I will also add that their broccoli cheese casserole was awesome. All and all we were very happy with our experience here. Yeah, it's a chain restaurant, but for the prices it can't be beat. Don't go in expecting gourmet food and fine dining and you won't leave unhappy. Terrible Service! I called ahead to let them know that there would be a party of 20 one night. They were rude and told me "we don't take reservations." I understand that, but as being a server myself, I would like to know so I can prepare to be ready for a table that size. Once arriving, they told us it would be about 45 minutes before we got seated, but that wait time ended up being an hour and a half!!!! They were rude and not helpful at all. My best friend lives in Louisville now. She knows I don't love chains, but we also needed something child-friendly b/c the babies were with us. That being said, this seemed like a good idea b/c I also wanted to have a drink at lunch. It was a long drive with a lot of bad traffic and I was ready for a break. I wanted to be waited on with some healthy options. I will say, there is nothing remotely healthy on the menu. That is disappointing but it's to be expected. Our server was a young woman who was very attentive and patient. We weren't rushed for turnover and we took a LONG time to order. Sometimes, it is nice to peruse the WHOLE menu which is what I did. I found it to be very "southern" with a lot of fried options. Very standard chain-like options from burgers/fries to pasta dishes. This restaurant REALLY loves to load you up on carbs. I say this b/c they have these flakey, fresh out of the oven croissants that come with everything from your salad to the meal. They are delicious but when one is not eating white flour, it is a sad state of affairs. Annnnyway, I ordered a salmon Caesar salad which was really affordable (less than $10 - unheard of) and my dining mate ordered the chicken sandwich w/fries. My daughter was with us and she enjoyed the croissants, for which the waitress was happy to bring a ton of if needed. That was nice b/c I wasn't paying $5 for a child meal. The salmon was VERY good. I would get it again but it was a small portion. The salad was overdressed and there was PASTA on the bottom. They were the think penna noodles. This was not what I expected nor did I want, but I also didn't want to send back so I simply ate around them, picked them out and gave them to Jude....again, CARB OVERLOAD. I also had the regular Texas margarita and it was DEEELISH. I got it on the rocks with no salt, LIGHT tequilla and it was really tasty....not too much sweet/sour which can ruin a good marg any day of the week. For lunch, I spent less than $15 and it was a decent option but just keep in mind, NOTHING is "healthy" even if it's grilled or a salad - somehow they manage to make it a bit more southern with extra everything and really - pasta in a Caesar salad? Weird. Service was awesome sauce though. I enjoyed it a lot! Overall - a sold A-OK but nothing to really write home about IMO. read more
