Complementary butter croissant, which is sweet and the cheese curds

Came here on the Darden gift card, which apparently owns Olive Garden, cheddars Longhorn steak, yardhouse and some others. I started with the Wisconsin cheese, curds and ranch. I followed that up with the cheddars trio sampler which comes with chicken tenders, spinach dip, and homemade queso and chips. I like the Olive Garden and I also love the Yardhouse and cheddar scratches as I love the of those takes on the chain restaurants but not as well known and still providing quality food. They focus on comfort food (chiven biscuits and gravy type fare) and the quality is equal to cheesecake factory in my opinion. All in all the price came to over $20 bucks for Wisconsin cheese curds and the sampler platters rig tenders, spinach dip and chips and their yellow queso sauce. Usually I only want queso if it's white but I took a gamble on the yellow goo and it was tasty. The curds are also amazing

Good casual ambience great prices, great for families, Good drinks, good fast service, but very mediocre food.

    Bone-In Ribeye

First time here, I got the bone-in ribeye -- bad choice and should not be your restaurant of choice for a good steak. Second time, I got the chicken tender platter and it looks flavorful, but was very much the opposite. The service was amazing both times I went, but the food was always lacking and you could very much tell that they don't season anything. Wouldn't recommend, for the cost of bland food.

My daughter wanted some chicken fingers, so we decided to stop here for lunch. They gave us free butter crossaints and I had a house salad. we shared cheese curds as an appetizer and I had the monte cristo which I loved and my daughter enjoyed her chicken fingers.

Good food, great service... all at a reasonable price. Nothing more to say! Oh... they have a 2 or 3 pairing deal for lunch too.

Usually busy. Looks fancy, but it's really not. Great bang for your buck. It is a chain but I enjoy it and I'll be back.

Good food at reasonable prices. Would like to see less wait time. Bit there is a reason for the wait. Nice atmosphere inside.

Why did Cheddars drop the Spasgna from the menu? It was a one of a kind dish and my absolute favorite. What would it take to bring it back?

Please bring it back! It was my favorite, too. SPASAGNA

The food the food was excellent. Jordan did a good job of describing the various options we drilled in on the pork tacos which apparently were on special and then the fish and chips which is what I got. I also got the cucumber and onions it's a side dish Yum Yum. Service was great. We were here at a pretty quiet time around 3 o'clock. So there really wasn't a lot of people around. Piggy enjoyed her pork tacos along with the warm mac & cheese. we will definitely be back here again as it's only 2 miles from Hallmark. I may even have to order to go and drive out and pick it up from my girlfriend a.k.a. the wife. If you're in the area you should drop in.

I've had the Cajun Jack chicken sandwich, the Reuben, and The Miami, and found all the be solid sandwiches. I have yet to have had a bad item on their menu, but nothing has blown me away. Barrel house differentiates themselves a little in the side dish arena, offering chips, potato rounds, and barrel cucumbers as slightly different options along with the common fries or salad. Barrel House also has a few house beers. This location has a good layout, with a bar area with some high top tables along with booths and tables in the open main dining area. There is also a smaller patio area outside for the summertime.

The $50 sirloin steak was served cold. Because our waitress, Grace H, failed to even ask how our food was the entire time until after we had eaten everything I couldn't even send it back. I spent the entire time trying to make eye contact with her but she was busy taking new tables. When she finally came to ask how our food was and was told, her response was I will let the kitchen know. Not "I will bring you another plate" or even discount or comp the entree. Not what you'd expect from Iowa city's fine dining flagship. The prices were not just expensive, but over the top expensive. $50 for an 8 ounce sirloin. $56 for 12 average oysters. To be honest it's below average in value to a nice restaurant in LA, NY or Chicago. They may thrive because the IC elite doesn't have many options for upscale dining. But for someone who has lived in those cities and eaten at Michelin star culinary venues this place is lacking in both food and service for the prices they charge. It was enough of a bad experience that I will never be back. There's Chez Grace, Joseph's and 126 which offer quality food, much better value and food service. Posting my food pics and the receipt to see what $200 gets you here.

Every single thing we ordered felt fresh, thoughtful, and just really well done. My kids were obsessed with the chocolate chip pancakes (which says a lot), and my dad and I worked our way through a few different dishes. The biscuits and gravy were comforting and rich without being too heavy, and even the simple eggs were cooked perfectly. But the standout? The breakfast tacos. They were insane. The pork was seasoned perfectly, super flavorful without being overwhelming, and everything just worked together so well. Also, do not skip the fresh squeezed orange juice or the local sourdough with homemade preserves. You can taste the difference. It's one of those places where you can tell they really care about the ingredients. Service was warm and easy, and the vibe just makes you want to sit and stay a while. We'll 100% be back if we're ever in Iowa City again!
