Alistair is a pig, and I love him! My first visit to this…read morestore was on a special day...it was Alistairs birthday. He was upfront in the store with a wee party hat on..( have to say though I dont like when people dress up animals, but this didnt seem like too big a deal for Alistair) and they were giving away crave cupcakes. There were streamers, Alistair was snuffling away and cheerfully receiving pats from his admirers. So THAT was my introduction to this little place. LIke most mom and pop pet food stores you will find that the prices are higher than at somewhere like Petsmart etc. It is understandable as they dont have the volume of sales. The products they do have though are excellent, wonderful products for your beloved pets. It is clear that the owners of this store love animals and want nothing but the best for thier customers pets. I will admit that I tend to go to Petsmart, but do like to pop in here to pick up a few special treats for my kitties and see Alistair. It is so cool to have a pig in my neighborhood and to go to a piggy birthday party is something that I have for the memory books.. Long live Alistair, mom and pop businesses and all those who love animals. oink oink.. ( that was Alistair)

Allister's pen greets you at the door and according to his father, the owner; Allister has a Facebook page of 400 friends. More FB friends than I, Allister. The store is a very modest, simple establishment and it is run by a very likeable fellow, he took the time to bring Alli from the back of the store to meet me and they both showed me his trick of sitting down for a treat. Alli tried to sit again for another treat but his papa was all to savvy. One treat is enough, now don't be a pig about it. PN carries mostly supplies for dogs and cats and the prices there seem quite reasonable, it seems to be a large store and equipped with toys, food as well as a nice section of sleeping accessories for your furry friends. So yes this yelper likes PN and especially her new friend, I just hope he doesn't reject me on FB.

They led us to believe 50% of our earnings went to insurance to "protect us" vs. us going on it on our own. If we earned $100 for an allnight sleepover, giving meds, walking the pet 3x a day...they took half. They told us it was for "insurance". Turns out it was insurance for THEM. The company owner. NOT US, the pet sitters .As a first time pet sitter for several dogs, I TRUSTED WHILE AWAY to let me pet sit dogs THAT WERE SAFE. i took the assignment they gave me..brand new pet sitter I was...and it turned out the dog had a shock collar, it was so violent. It had a history of attacking smaller dogs and a record with the City. No one told me that. I took the 2 dogs for a walk.. both over 70lbs...and ended up breaking my foot in 3 places after it/they went after a smaller dog, as they had in the past. I was off work for 2 months. I lost over $3000 in pay. The owner said I was at fault for not wearing proper footwear. This company should go out of business. That small dog and dog owner they chased were also traumatized. Horrible experience. I will NEVER pet sit again after this experience. I had to stop 2 dogs from killing a small dog in front of my eyes because of the lack of screening from this business owner.

The store is quite big with great selection of exotic creatures, if that's your thing. We came for dog food and a new toy for my dog that will always be my puppy. So many unique pet needs for any reptile, fish, rodent, birds, cat, dog needs. I was so lost at looking, watching mesmerized by the creatures. The only REAL problem with the entire store is the checkout and the till staff when you want to GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY !! You can go there at peak times with the entire line full or be the only one in the store and have to wait, every , single, time. I've been there and waited while the person on desk #1 will eventually wander back over to it after having a lovely chat with the girl on #3. I was there on Dec 11 and dropped a couple of hundred on dog food and that's how it happened! You will actually feel your life ebbing away and slipping closer to death waiting in that line, its THAT bad. (grin) I don't know if its their system, or the staff training, or the steps in the checkout process, or what, but the waiting in that bloody line is beyond ridiculous. Maybe its deliberate because of all the impulse purchase stuff they have CRAMMED in to the check out aisle. ...... it sure feels that way.

‼‼‼‼‼I had the most heartbreaking and traumatizing experience in this clinic, and I want to warn…read moreevery pet owner: never bring your animals here, especially small pets like guinea pigs or rabbits. Early in the morning, I saw my guinea pig was very sick and not eating. I panicked and called several clinics to ask if they treat small animals. This clinic told me: "Yes, bring her now, it's an emergency, we can help." Relieved, I rushed over, believing they would save her. I arrived at 9 AM. A man at reception took my pet away, and for the next 2.5 hours I sat with no updates, no communication, no idea what was happening. I kept saying it was urgent, but they just told me to wait. Finally, a doctor spoke to me -- without even bringing my pet -- and started talking about stomach problems, then immediately said the cost would be $3000. When I asked for details or a price list, he left. Later, staff came in with two different papers: * The first showed $216 for a "consultation" plus $188 for cremation. * The second showed $216 for a "consultation" plus costs for treatment and medications. It felt like they were literally giving me a choice: either pay for cremation, or pay for treatment. I even asked: "If you are already suggesting cremation, does that mean treatment won't help? Is it already too late?" They reassured me: "No, it's not too late. Treatment will help. You just need to give the medicines." Of course, since the price difference between cremation and treatment wasn't very big, and because this was our beloved pet, we chose treatment, trusting their words. But every 15-20 minutes the numbers kept changing -- $500, then $600, then suddenly $411. They seemed to invent prices out of thin air. Desperate to save my pet, I agreed to treatment. After more waiting, they gave her back to me in a box. She was lying still, breathing heavily, clearly struggling. I begged them to check her, but they said: "It's fine, go home." Within 15 minutes of leaving the clinic, after giving only the first medications they prescribed, my beloved guinea pig went into seizures and died in my arms. The same clinic that promised me she would be okay, that took hundreds of dollars from me, had let her suffer for hours and then die. When I came back crying, with my child crying beside me, they quickly pulled me into a private room so other clients wouldn't hear. They said: "Sorry, sorry, it's not our fault." Then they demanded $300 for cremation. After arguing, they told me they would refund $80 for the medicines, then changed it to $150, and then told me I would only need to pay $24 more for cremation. Finally, they said: "Actually, don't pay anything for cremation -- but you will not get any refund either." The numbers kept changing every time, as if they were inventing them on the spot. I spent from 9 AM until nearly 1 PM in this nightmare. My pet suffered for 3.5 hours while they played with numbers and gave me false hope. Instead of telling me honestly that they couldn't help, they strung me along, took my money, and handed me back my pet already dying. To make things worse, while I sat in the waiting room devastated, I overheard staff laughing and celebrating someone's birthday. It was clear saving my animal was never their priority. I cannot shake the feeling that they took advantage of me because I am an immigrant and my English is not strong. They saw an opportunity to overcharge me and gave me no clear information, no transparent price list, no real compassion. My guinea pig went into this clinic alive. She left dead. And all they cared about was money. Please, if you love your pets, do not bring them here. This clinic is cruel, unprofessional, and heartless. They gave me false hope, drained me financially, and let my pet die in pain. It is a nightmare I never want another family to experience.

Quite a few years ago, they used to be good; they used to use anesthetic gas through a mask and would even let the pet owner be with their pet during the euthanizing process. Now that they chamber them, they don't allow you to be with your pet during their final moments of consciousness (likely because they don't want you to see how disturbing what they're doing is). Between this questionable policy of theirs and their very high costs (and a few other unsettling interactions with them), I'd say it's best to avoid this place.
