From day one, the coaches have been welcoming, patient, and genuinely invested in each child. They do such a great job balancing discipline and structure while still keeping classes fun and something the kids look forward to. We've watched our boys grow so much--not only in their jiu-jitsu skills, but also in their confidence, focus, discipline, resilience, and respect for others. The coaches know when to encourage them, when to challenge them, and how to make every child feel proud of their progress. What really makes EDH BJJ special is the community. It truly feels like a family. Everyone is supportive and encouraging, and you can tell the coaches genuinely care about the kids both on and off the mat. Watching our boys earn their stripes and belts and become more confident has been so rewarding. We are incredibly grateful we found EDH BJJ and couldn't recommend this gym enough to any family looking for a positive, supportive environment for their kids!

We have watched both of our sons progress, from starting at the age of four and continue to grow in not only strength but integrity, team work/team camaraderie, intrinsic motivation and self control. We appreciate the consistency with the coaches and their willingness to help each student, regardless of age or ability. They show extreme patience with all in attendance, including kids who have never stepped onto the mat. The environment is friendly and supportive and always extremely inclusive. We could not be happier with our six years at this gym and have no plans to leave anytime soon. Each of us look forward to the classes, that are offered throughout the week. Our sons are excited to attend each class and have made some life-long friendships with their teammates.

I haven't seen other gyms set up like that. Jujutsu is pretty great, but they don't get credit for that. They only get credit for how they run their business and it needs improvement greatly. They're not open to suggestions, they don't care when you're injured. I used to have great workouts at the gym. After jujutsu and the injuries all my joints hurt and my workouts are nothing like they used to be. Things they don't tell you about jujutsu. The injury rate is 100%. They don't know how to teach without injury is one of their big problems. Beware and good luck if you decide to spend your time and money here.

If you're in the…read moreOrangevale/Citrus Heights/Folsom area, give this place a look and come check out a trial class! While looking for a gym, I trained at a few academies in the area since moving to Sacramento. After a solid trial class and a few conversations with the owner/head coach, I knew this was the right training environment and a meaningful long-term investment for me. Being extremely skilled and experienced in a technical art is one thing, and being able to teach, demonstrate, and convey those skills to multiple audiences of varying ability is another thing. Chris Holdsworth has both of these capabilities in droves - he is able to teach the nuances and details of BJJ to a group of white belts to brown belts at the same time. There's always a detail he's able to highlight so that everyone is learning and improving their game. The best part of this academy is that no matter your niche, you can find the right education and training for your needs: - If you want to compete at the highest levels of competition/sport BJJ or even consider MMA and pro fights, Chris Holdsworth has the extensive experience and capability to help guide you through that process. - If you're a beginner and looking to learn the skills and get your feet wet, there are plenty more like you. - If you're a dad with kids looking to get in better shape and be healthier, there's a spot for you too. (This is me.) The overwhelming majority of folks who roll here do so to enjoy training and learn/improve in their BJJ journey, not to destroy or injure their training partners or stroke their egos. As an older guy with a family and a job I need to keep, safe training is paramount to me - this place provides just that environment, and I consider myself very lucky. The only drawback is that the classes can get very crowded because they're so popular! Hopefully when the gym grows to a larger training space it won't be an issue. Highest recommendation.

The coaches--Jordon, Pren, and Billy--are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping everyone improve. One thing that really sets this gym apart is the sense of community. They regularly host BBQs on holidays and special occasions, and anyone who comes by for Friday night open mat is always welcome. I've honestly never trained at a gym that makes sure everyone gets fed after practice, but these guys never let us leave hungry. They also go the extra mile to make the gym comfortable, especially during the summer, with air conditioning and plenty of fans to keep the airflow going. I've been training for a pretty long time now, so it is refreshing to be around coaches who genuinely love the art and love sharing it without ego. This place is a whole family vibe. Having the option of a women's program is really nice too. Coach Katie is a seasoned brown belt competitor, and you can see it right away. Our 14-year-old and 10-year-old daughters both train, and watching them grow so quickly in the kids' program has been one of the coolest things to see as a dad. My 14-year-old will even come train with the adults too, which says a lot compared to some of the other gyms we've been to. We also bring our 3-year-old son, and the gym has this gated kids' area that is pretty legit. He's always having his own little party and is chillin while the rest of us are on the mats. It's a small thing, but it makes a huge difference for families with little ones who aren't quite ready to train yet. The talent and the culture here are authentic, which is really important to me.
