We had some *very* good late night food at this Checkers. The drive through was pretty slow but I'm seeing that as a common denominator among fast food joints these days. The mozzarella sticks were kind of disappointing but their fries were seasoned and cooked really well! The #1 Big Buford hit the spot after a night out at a wedding. This Checkers was within walking distance of our hotel and right directly across the street from the Speedway! Big win for us that night. read more

I have been to this store a couple times in the past couple months. Things had improved from around a year ago but now things are getting back to the way I knew this store prior to Covid. We stopped one night at 7:45 PM and they were closed. A night prior to that we stopped at 6PM and the drive thru was not manned and people drove off ahead of us. There was no response at the order speaker and as we drove by the delivery window there were lights on but no one was inside and there were no cars parked where employees usually park. The last meal we had from this particular store was quite good as was the entire experience. I noted prices had increased at checkers just like all other businesses. It's to the point that fast food is a hassle instead of a convenience everywhere. With instapots and air fryers and convection ovens we've pretty much stopped eating out. By the time I find out checkers is closed I might as well have shopped for the week and just plan on eating at home from now on. It isn't just checkers but every fast food store has suffered quality of service since the "recent wage increases." It seems being paid more per hour equates to poorer service and rudeness everywhere. The big positive is less processed fatty fast food in my belly. Very rude service. At the drive-thru ask if there was a singly patty Buford. Response a simple "No!" With attitude. Said ok, I'll get just the double, no response. Then "Drink?" It was just a very rude and personalized experience. The pregnant lady Waac just asking about her baby daddy instead of focusing on customer service. Should have looked at the poor reviews before I drove up. Won't be returning. Seems like poor reviews for all the checkers in the Daytona area. After riding all around, craving something, but not really knowing what...I ended up at Checker's. Checker's has something for everyone who is craving greasy fast-food. Yes, that's right, greasy fast-food! Usually, I enjoy much healthier options...I don't know what came over me! So, I ended up placing my order for a fried fish sandwich and loaded potato skins. I also ordered the peach lemonade. The peach lemonade was pretty good because of the real peach slices and peach syrup. I didn't really taste much lemon though. I ordered the fish sandwich with cheese and no other toppings - no lettuce, no sauce. And I actually enjoyed the taste of it better than McDonald's fish sandwich. The breading had a great crunch and it was tasty! The loaded potato skins are cooked to order, so there will be a 3 minute wait for those babies to come out of the fryer! They are topped with ranch, cheese sauce, and bacon crumbles. The potato skins are okay but I think the potato texture can be a little mealy at times. Cons: While I was waiting the three minutes for the potato skins to be ready, I was asked to pull through the drive through and go park, then drive back through to pick them up. That was a bit inconvenient. Also, the speaker at the menu wasn't that great and I had to repeat my order several times. read more

I give it 2 stars only because the cahier and the manager were very kind, professional, and apologetic. It was the guy making the sandwiches who was so overburdened by the thought of remaking my raw burger that I decided on a refund. With an attitude so poor it's no wonder my burger was subpar. However, subpar may lead one to believe that it was even on the same course as being good. The first sight of my burger was enough to convince me that this was nothing at all like the picture. I had to search for the lettuce and tomato and when I found it i wanted to remove it. There wasn't even any heat to speak of emanating from the foil and the first nibble demonstrated completely why, because my burger was not cooked past the initial gray that would be achieved from being seared upon a lukewarm grill. I could have acheived a higher internal temperature with a Bic lighter. Again, I may find myself at Five Guys to quench my burger thirst but the cashier and manager both responded with respect. Unfortunately the manager should be more proactive in running her shift and these problems wouldn't occur. read more

I'll agree - Checkers has something greasy and cheap for everyone. I recently tried the Garlic Ranch Swissburger which was pretty tasty - it had a thick slice of swiss cheese, ranch dressing, and onion straws on top of a burger patty. The hubs had the "Big Buford" which was well, BIG. For dessert - we ended our night with the 2/$2 swirl ice-cream in a waffle cone. Delish. The walk-up service was fast and friendly and the picnic area was clean as well and free of garbage on the ground. read more

OK, I know that Checkers is a fast food restaurant,but why do I always have to wait 15min. just to order a drink.I work in the area and alway smell the food cooking but when I get there to order I always have to wait to get someone to take my order.Then I have to wait another ten min. @ least to get the food. So I cant even enjoy my food cause by the time the employees take their time taking my order,and then the delivery time takes 10 min. my lunch break is over. I must say that the employees don't care if they take your order at all.But on the rare occasion you do get to order something they are very rude and unpleasant to do business with. This Place needs some serious attention,maybe some new management and employees would help.With all the people needing work I honestly believe that there are people that will show pride in the service they provide. The food was great, but the service wasn't great at all. We ordered 2 burgers, and a hotdog and fries and we were asked to pull up. So we pulled up and waited almost 20 minutes. All the cars that ordered after us were getting their food and leaving. I could understand if we had ordered a bunch of food, but we didn't order anything extremely difficult to make. Then when we got our food we had to walk back up there and ask for the ranch we had asked for at the window. They tried to charge us like 70 cents. So we just left without it. Clearly i was moved to take time to write a review for a fast food spot. We all know what to expect from Checkers, decent drinks and greasy food. Ordered a burger got a mayonnaise sandwich. Checker-burger was SMOTHERED in mayo, asked for no onions and no mustard, they could only handle half of that, got onions on the burger. My hot dog looked like a scab and I'm pretty sure I could break a car window with the bun. They forgot my fries and I think I might have been better off without them. I don't know how they can make fries soaked in grease yet dry as sandpaper but they managed to pull it off. Even the dog didn't want them. Save your money and go to the 7-11 across the street and get the 2 for $2 hot dogs lol. read more

Worst service ever. We tried to do separate orders and they said, and I quote, "No. Two." Like I know you can do separate orders you do it all day long you're just being lazy. We ordered and there was literally two minutes of silence. We sat there awkward, confused, questioning if they got our order right (they didn't). All we could do was wonder, are you there, Checkers? It's us, hungry white girls. We eventually asked if they were still there, they were. After repeating our order a few times, we got to the window to get our food. we were making sure we had everything and Darlene kept giving us dirty looks. Eventually she opened the window back up to ask what the hell we were doing and we politely told her that we ordered the baconzilla fries not the sandwich and we received the sandwich. So basically they tried to tell us it was our fault for ordering the wrong thing and tried to make us pay for another order of fries, which we were not having. So (this part is my favorite) we were like, okay well give us another order of fries and Darlene is like "WELL GIVE ME THE SANDWICH" and at that point we were dying because you'd think we stole her personal possessions and not a four dollar burger. So we ordered these baconzilla fries with no ketchup and she gave us the two dollars back that was the difference in price- which was very nice of her because we didn't even ask for the money back- and finally got our food. We drive off and the baconzilla fries are literally smothered in ketchup and have a singular piece of bacon laid on top. All in all, the entire trip was just an awful experience and Darlene is kind of a bitch. Would not recommend this location even though Checker's is phenomenal and they have some bomb fries. I would order the large or the fry lovers XL though because I finished my medium fries before we even got back on the interstate to go home. read more
