Washer and dryer in the house is a luxury compared to other cottages I've stayed in. It isn't perfect but it really works well for group of friends or family. Love the sauna too. The casino is within walking distance, just look out for highway traffic. Grand Island is just across the water. It's a neat place to tour on bike, they also have bus tours and hiking. A lot of it is up hill (it felt like 90%) but, a beautiful ride. Watch out for bear scat in the road. Uncle Ducky's kayaks is across from the casino, we just walked down there to the Duck Pond Bar. Overall I definitely recommend this place.

Weather forecast was threatening the days leading up to our visit so I contacted Captain Mark and he called me right back and came up with a plan. But, not to worry, the storms shifted and we were able to take our tour. The boat is in great condition and the pricing is great! It was just my husband and two children and myself on a 30 ft pontoon. We could have stayed all day we enjoyed it so much. Captain Bill knew right where to take us for the best viewing and photos. We even went over to Grand Island and really enjoyed that too. I highly reccomend Lake Superior Boat Tours. Don't hesitate, just book it! You won't regret it.

I reserved my experience on their website and received a personal confirmation from Raya via text message in less than 15 minutes. Raya answered all my questions in advance of the event quickly and with great detail. Yooper Yachts was the only company I found that allowed for single kayaks, as I was booking alone and didn't want to be paired with a stranger. My tour was run by Rick and Bob (father/son team) were super friendly and helpful. My group was 7 total kayakers (two tandem kayaks and three singles). We all met at the meet point, and after a short drive and set of instructions, we were in the water. The tour was fantastic. Rick provided a personal touch...learning everyone's names and getting to know them and providing interesting stories about the rock formations and area insights. Rick and Bob could not be nicer and more genuine. They gave us the freedom to roam and explore a bit on our own but were always close by if we needed them. They provided all of the required equipment, which was in great shape. They also had Dramamine available if we needed it. Honestly this is the best experience I could have hoped for in a tour of Pictured Rocks. You can really count on Yooper Yachts, they are very dependable and are a fun outfit!

Our Tour Guide Tim was awesome. His history of Munising & Grand Island added to the mystic of this ride. In addition his boating skills were phenomenal. Throughout the ride Tim would speed up, slow down, twist the boat to the left then the right. I swear at times we were at a 90° angle cruising through Lake Superior as we circled Grand Island. The captain, deckhands, and guides were professional, friendly, and clearly committed to helping everyone have a great experience. A special shoutout to our guide, Valerie. She was absolutely fantastic. Our 11-year-old rode in her kayak, and Valerie did an amazing job making all of our kids (ages 7, 9, and 11) feel included, seen, heard, and part of the adventure. She was knowledgeable, entertaining, full of dad jokes, and kept the entire group engaged throughout the tour. She also took some incredible photos for our family! As parents, we really appreciated how Valerie connected with our kids and made them feel like they belonged. That small detail made a great experience truly memorable. One of the things we appreciated most was having the support boat nearby throughout the paddle. Knowing it was there if anyone needed assistance or a restroom break added an extra level of comfort and confidence, especially with younger kids. The kayaking itself was very manageable for our family, but what really set this experience apart were the views. Being in a kayak puts you right at the base of the cliffs, giving you an up-close perspective of Pictured Rocks that you simply can't get from one of the larger sightseeing cruises. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. This was easily one of the highlights of our Upper Peninsula trip. We highly recommend Pictured Rocks Kayaking and would book with them again in a heartbeat!

This is one of the least visited national parks, and it's not because it isn't worth visiting…read more Rather, it's so isolated that it needs a 3-6 hr ferry ride or a 45-60 min sea plane ride. Even then, there's only one hotel to stay in which is usually booked out pretty far in advance, unless you want to camp with potable water sources not the most reliable. Of course, this is by design in order to preserve the beautiful natural wilderness. I visited in the shoulder season in the first week of June, and there weren't that many people, emphasizing the wild solitude. It seems like all the visitors here are respectful of nature since there was not any litter nor any defacing at all. The trails here are primitive and not paved or lined with gravel. You can see so much wildlife here, from tiny amphibians the size of my fingernail to huge moose. The night sky is amazing with so many stars, and I saw the Milky Way due to the high quality of the night sky. It is very humbling. As a note, limited amounts of foraging is allowed. I didn't take anything, but I saw edible mushrooms and fiddleheads, and later in the season there's wild blueberries, strawberries, and thimbleberries. Even though it is early before the first hatch, the mosquitoes here are ferocious!

I took the Sea Hunter 3 from Grand Portage, Minnesota. The Grace Point lookout trail from the Windigo Visitor's Center took me about two hours, I'm a 45 year old male in decent shape. The lodge is at the Rock Creek Visitor's Center, from the Windigo Visitor's Center this would be about a 40-50 mile hike, Isle Royale is HUDGE island. There are ferry's and sea planes to Rock Harbor. I would LOVE to come back and spend a couple of nights. Bring heavy duty bug spray and a bug cover for your head and hands. The rangers at the Windigo Visitor's Center are GREAT, the ranger in the picture gave an awesome presentation.
