Very cool place with lots of vintage kitch to look at including KISS. Coffee quite tasty and pastries fresh and delicious.

Amazing coffee. Very cool fun vibe there. Drink your coffee and look through the albums. It was a really fun place

I come to Hillsdale once a year from the west coast and I make sure to stop by to get a bag of whole bean Love Potion coffee. So good!

Been here many times and it never disappoints! My daughter who was a student at Hillsdale College has dreams about their coffee. So delicious! They also have delicious baked goods. If you're into records, they have those too! This is a must stop if you're in Hillsdale! read more

Best coffee in town. Redeye when I'm slowing down, Kenyan otherwise. Frappes are tasty on a hot summer day.

Great coffee and atmosphere. I had the Teddy Bear and it was phenomenal! Service was efficient and friendly. read more

I love love love this place. A 2 in 1 kinda joint. Up front is music lovers paradise with some jewelry on the side so those who have piercings, they have a good variety in stock. Then they have the coffee in the back. Fresh hot coffee, iced coffee, or blended iced coffee. My favorite it a salted caramel blended ice coffee. It's amazing. They don't have much food here, but they offer a really good turkey and Swiss croissant, muffins, cookies, etc. I bought 2 nose rings and a king sized B. I. C. and it cost me $15. The staff has always been very kind, quick and helpful. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Even though they've been at this a long time, it's a hidden gem. Great coffee and new vinyl selection (no used) and if your into RSD releases they have a section. I special ordered some things and the staff was very nice and accommodating. read more

We love a good theme, and both the coffee and merch are on point. We jammed out to Aerosmith on the patio while sipping Rock Lobster and Purple Haze. The staff is awesome and knows their stuff both musically and about the bean. Rock on! read more

This place music wide a a good variety. I came mostly for the coffee and it was average. It wasn't the best I've had and I wish it was a bit stronger and had more flavor. I had a regular latte. If you are a music buff I think your experience would probably have been didfere read more

Slick! Since I am in Hillsdale more often I have really started to fall in love with the city. While attending a meeting I stumbled upon Checkers and got coffee with a colleague. The coffee was okay but the coffee cake was better. It was school to watch students and locals come in and out while staring at all the cool trinkets and gear to purchase. I may get a different coffee and will verbally buy a CD for old times sake! See you soon Checkers! read more

Always great service and by far the best coffee I've ever had! Love the environment also.

Really amazing coffee but pretty small inside and my boss used to have our work meetings here way too noisy place to be having work meetings

Cute place, friendly staff. Came here for the coffee, and there are so many flavors that it's hard to choose! I liked the classic rock n roll vibe. I'm not from Hillsdale, but this place is a fun place to stop to get that caffeine fix. The baked goods looked awesome too! read more

We love this place! Best coffee and friendly staff. You've gotta try the Teddy Bear! Plus it's a record store too! read more

Really fun and friendly people. Great coffee and lots of fun records, CDs and paraphernalia to peruse.

This is THE BEST coffee shop in Hillsdale county. You can't beat the quality and service. They have so many delicious goodies and drinks to choose from. My favorites are the Caramel Chai Tea and the "Bob Segar" coffee. They have an amazing variety of homemade goodies. My absolute fave.... the cranberry scones! Sooooo good!!! I also love shopping for my favorite tunes while I'm there. John and Robin treat you like family. I always know that I'm going to get the best when I go here. read more

Amazing records, vinyls, and other collectibles. Also AMAZING COFFEE. Totally recommended for all ages and people. All music and coffee lovers will totally enjoy this place. read more

Best coffee in town plus great cookies. An if it's CD you are looking for they can get them for you.

Owner is unfriendly, with the mediocre coffee they serve, he should welcome people that come in, not act like he has better things to do than to serve coffee. read more

By far some of the best coffee in the Hillsdale area. The atmosphere is also very fun and welcoming. I would highly recommend stopping in here for a fun music inspired coffee. read more

First of all I'm not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars. I don't even know where to begin. Um the parking is substantial. There's parking in front of the building on the street and all down the street. There's also a lot beside the building for parking. I've never come and not had a spot to park. Second, the service is great. It feels like a family environment, meaning the staff and the owner, who is always here, act like family and you feel like a part of the family too. Even on days when it's packed and there's a long line, you can expect not to have a long wait because the girls are really fast in here. The record part of the store is pretty cool too. There's classic rock pictures everywhere, records, CDs, record players... the works. For the coffee shop part of it, I have yet to be disappointed. I get the Jimmy Buffet which is great if you like coconut and almond. You can get up to 3 shots of espresso at no extra cost, hot, over ice, or blended like a frappe. They have 3 different sizes. I see a few people mentioned the coffee being so so. I'm a coffee lover and I've had lots of different coffees. This coffee is great. If you drink and like starbucks, then this isn't the place for you. Local shops get good beans, starbucks can't because there's only 20% of good coffee beans in the world (heard this from a coffee shop owner a few weeks ago). For the amount of coffee starbucks makes, they can't possibly get that many good beans. Anyway, the coffee is delicious and they sell coffee beans and will grind them for you if you need. They have a ton of drinks here for adults and kids. I'm not from Michigan but every time I visit my grandma, this is a must and if I can swing it, it's usually at least a dual day stop. You'll love this place, I guarantee it! read more

Some of the nicest, coolest and most fun people in Hillsdale County. John and Robin greet everyone warmly, and make some of the best coffee within a hundred miles! I visit every single day and am never disappointed. They're so friendly that sometimes they even let me choose the next flavor of the day for coffee! It is one of the better parts of my college experience to go to Checkers daily for a great cup of coffee at a fantastic price! read more

Hands down the best cup of coffee in all of Hillsdale! I've been going to get my daily cup of coffee there for a while now and I love every cup. Keep it up Checkers! read more

My husband & I love this place! We come every time we're in town. They have everything from coffee, muffins, & neat flavors of oatmeal. Don't forget your T-shirt and/or sweatshirt to give them some advertisement too. If coffee/espresso is your thing, this is your place read more

Best place around for excellent coffee and the cranberry scones are out of this world!!! The owners are AWESOME people! No coffee chain can compare to the hometown feeling at Checkers. read more

I've only dealt with Robin by phone, and I can STILL tell she's one of the most genuine record store owners Ive ever had the pleasure to come across. I live nowhere near Hillsdale, MI but Checker Records is my go-to store because they go the extra mile for their customers!!! read more

The go-to coffee shop in Hillsdale. Ample selection, premium roast coffees and a large selection of baked goods. I always make it a point to stop in and see John and his team when I'm in the area. Highly recommended! read more

Checker Records is a great small town record store, prices a bit high but what else do you expect for a small town place. They will order whatever you want, and they can usually get it. Cute coffee bar and wide array of body jewelry. Hillsdale would suck with Checker Records. read more

John and his family have made Checker Records my go to for great coffee and music in Hillsdale. If you need anything he is the one to go to for music. read more
