Meh We used to drive almost an hour for the ice cream and a long leisurely ride home on the back roads. The last few times the ice cream has been coming up short. Don't know if it's your supplier or how you're making it? or how you're storing it? I've tried strawberry and chocolate and cherry and mint chip. All the same. It's like it has crystals in it and the flavors just seem "off". We had a good run but we're gonna have to find another cream parlor to enjoy. Totally bummed because we really enjoyed this place. Catering to the masses is business. Lots of reviews on here about the huge ice creams. We get it, but for u, we prefer quality over quantity. Best of luck. read more

Not a sit-down restaurant, basically a window where you order and a picnic table to eat your food can't speak to the food but the ice cream is better than most outside by the carton (Kroger or Walmart) the only other joint close is DQ which is a sit-down restaurant and not seasonal. read more

I was in the area to check out a trail and saw this place so I had to check it out! The name is cute! The decor outside was spot on and had a lot of positive flare. There was a line of probably 15 cars and many other patrons standing in line the entire 3 hours we were in the area so we were sure this place would be a win. Tried a custom made milkshake, black cherry milkshake and a scoop of the banana pudding ice cream (had chunks of mills wafers in it). Wow! This one place is good. The single scoops of ice cream are MASSIVE. We initially drove by here on Labor Day and the drive thru line was in the street. Came back the following day- no line. Delicious! Whenever we are in the area, The Udder Side is a must stop! If you want a yummy burger, fries, coney, or other greasy food that isn't good for you but tastes oh, so good - this is your place! They also have some over-the-top ice cream creations that are so delicious. They have outdoor seating right next to a busy road so be sure to watch out for little ones. There isn't a bathroom either. You can also call ahead and pickup your order. They also have a drive-thru. You pull ahead while being directed by a traffic light. It's neat. Give this place a green light and go. read more

Delicious hand-dipped ice cream cones, treats & shakes. I had the Lemon Cheesecake which was a lemon based ice cream with Graham cracker/ cheesecake bites - super delicious. One scoop in a waffle cone was a great portion. My bf got a vanilla shake which was thick, creamy and also very delicious. There is a DRIVE THRU - SO GREAT... but also outdoor seating and walk-up windows for ordering. My only suggestion is that they have a LOT of flavors, none of which are explained in detail at the window, so if it's a fun name, you'd have to ask what's in it. If there's a way to narrow down the choices (unless all are great and popular movers - then keep doing it!) or describing what's in it (base & mix-in's) then that would be very helpful. My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out, as recommend by a few people and was not too impressed by what we got. We ordered a "blizzard" type ice cream that was pretty much strawberry shortcake. It would've been nice to know that you have to mix it yourself before we started eating it from top to bottom..we also got a float that wasn't anything special. We probably won't be back...and stick with the Spotted Cow from now on. read more

I also ordered some food (I got a soft pretzel and my fiance got a cheese burger), and the food was great too!! The service was very friendly and fast as well! I specifically ordered a cone of carrot cake ice cream -- I highly recommend it. I am still dreaming about that ice cream cone. My friends ordered strawberry and vanilla soft serve-- if it's a hot day, I suggest you get it in a cup, not a cone... We come eat ice cream at the Udder side every year when we camp here. They always serve us great ice cream. Today we had one of our ice creams that we were really not happy with and they took care of it quickly and professionally. We will always come back here when we are here. I have never stopped for lunch but if I do I'm sure they will take care of us. read more

I ordered the girls first Emilee Tanner Kokish and Jasmine Benchley they want the same thing, one med,minus nuts, order the exact same thing and then em pipes in she would like to make her a large.. okay,this confused the girl.. alright,no big deal,med no nuts,large regular.."what is regular?" For real are you punking me..deep breaths.. they're busy. Finally get that (fingers crossed right) then order a plain dirty pitchfork..oh lord have mercy! The cow tipped.."so you want that with nothing on it?" I said"No normal" I also need one with cashews didn't mean to confus you my bad.. No mention of size here. They have always been one size (I thought) Get up to pay. $5 more than should be. Well, I think no big deal, mistake.. they charge me a extra$1 a piece for the dirty pitchforks.plus $2 for cashews. I bring it to her attention and she said that is the price/then they have New menus (mine is two weeks old)/I must have a old one,well that's the right menu.. then,that I ordered mediums.. ummm.. what? No , no I didn't. Then i ask to speak to the manager.. she is to busy.. take my bag(she didn't say anything about it not being the complete order) go to pull out and only half of the order is there. Love, love, love the name of the place, the names of the ice cream concoctions. The various cow creations and the actual food are all super delicious. They have a chubby challenge every year, where if you get one of every cow creation and get a stamp for each corresponding one you get, you get a t-shirt, a button, and your pic on a wall-o-fame. The first person gets a $50 gift card. Don't be fooled into thinking this is easy-- there's ~40 different cow creations. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of the service. I usually go through the drive through, and the tone is less than welcome while ordering, paying, and receiving your order. One of my coworkers told me that she once ordered some type of ice cream, and a key ingredient was missing in it (like missing pecans in butter pecan ice cream or something like that). She and her family had already left, so she called later to say that she didn't need a refund or anything, but wanted to tell them as an fyi so they could improve. Apparently the person who took the call was very rude about it and was not receptive to the feedback at all. I heard about this place so I stopped by on my way through Michigan. My initial surprise was at the flavor called "red indian" for obvious reasons. Regardless I decided to taste this ice cream to see for myself what made it "red" or "indian" because I was curious and it was the "flavor of the week". What I got was an explosion of cinnamon that was painful in a very unsatisfying color of intestine pink. Not red at all. I asked for a different flavor and why they did not call it "red hot" like I had known this flavor to be all my life. I did not expect my taste buds to be assaulted by this strange intestinal cinnamon bomb. Had I known it was actually just a knock of version of "Red Hots" I would have been keen to the knowledge that this was going to be a painful experience. They didn't explain why they didn't call it Red Hot just a non-committal shrug from a very apathetic employee who would not exchange my ice cream so I left unsatisfied, unappetized, with a burning tongue, burning questions and several dollars lighter. read more

Great soft serve creations. I really love the road kill that has chocolate, nuts, peanut butter and two eyes looking back at you. Who doesn't like their food to look at them as to say, eat me I dare you. Well Mr. road kill soft serve I don't mind if I do, and I will enjoy it very much thank you. If the kitchen makes a woops, they serve the "cow pile" for 0.50$ You never know what your going to get but you can't beat the price. I would give it 5 stars and if it was based solely on the ice cream. But one very hot sunny day a few years ago I was out for a long run. I was parched, and I saw a mirage in the food desert that is US 12 and the thought came to mind that surely they will spare a small cup of water for a weary runner. That will be 0.25$ for the cup the server told me. "I'm sorry I don't have a quarter I'm out for a run and I didn't carry any cash." Well our cups of water are 0.25$ to cover the cost of the cup. This place is probably best known for their amazing ice cream, but I'm telling you, try the burgers! The basic burger and cheeseburger are good, but their gourmet ones are fantastic! And... they're cheap! The parklike grounds provide lots of outdoor seating among some pretty landscaping. Really, if you're ever in Hillsdale or Jonesville, you HAVE to stop by this place. read more
