On Saturday night my friend and I were attempting to get a ride back to our cabin from a friends place and someone placed a call to Night Owl. After waiting about 20 minutes we decided to call another cab company in the area, which would be there in 5 minutes. About a minute before the cab that we had called pulled up, the Night Owl cab drove up. We let her know that we did not request her services and that we had a cab on the way. She insisted that we "owed her money" even though neither of us had called her. After she chased our taxi driver off my friend decided that it would be worth the headache just to pay her to take and get this night over with. We didn't have any cash so we would have to stop by the bank. Now this is where things get ridiculous. SHE NEVER STARTED THE METER and drove roughly 1/2 mile to the bank where she told is it would be $20 but apparently $20 was not enough to cover the remaining 2 miles of our trip. She seriously wanted more money than the $20 she had just swindled us out of for a 2.5 mile trip. So at this point I was done with the situation and we decided to walk the remaining 2 miles back to our cabin. After about 5 minutes of walking 3 police officers pulled up behind us and informed us that there had been a report that we had skipped out on a cab fare, which was an absolute lie. Fortunately we had a receipt from the atm and the officer was able to clear that up. The cabbie called this in strictly out of spite in order to get the police to hassle us. I hope this review helps some one else avoid dealing with the same unpleasantness and unprofessionalism that plagued my taxi experience in Gatlinburg. Do yourself a favor and get the number of the local Uber driver, Ravi, he was excellent and a fraction of the cost.
