I was just ripped off last night for $2,800 to replace a stuck deadbolt. The price started at $395, then it needed to be replaced for $695. Then the part was hard to get but could be retrieved for $1,400 if he left and came back 5 hours later. These people are absolute crooks. Visa should quit accepting any charges from this company that has a "F" rating from the BBB and is not credited with them for failure to respond to complaints. They give you a quote to start the work and charge you 6+ times the quote on your credit card. Read the reviews. 53 gave 1* and 1 gave 5*. Every one of the 53 got screwed just like we did, Quote was for $70 + $20 if it took an extra long time. I guess spending less than 4 minutes in total from the time they started the work and had put the visa charge through and produced the invoice was a lot of work. That works out to $2.00 per second. I wish I could find a job that pays those rates. I guess the $20 is for 10 seconds of work. On November 20, 2021, the key to the door of my business got stuck in the lock. I was out of town and the employee on shift could not get the key out so we called a lock smith. On the phone, they said the service call would be $75. When they arrived, they said that this is a high security lock and we must change both the lock and Adams Rite because the key is completely siezed. I was out of town and had no other choice so decided to go ahead. They told me that the new high security lock they are installing would not get stuck like the old one. They told me because its an advanced lock, it would cost $545 (which I thought was way too high) and the adams rite would be $400. In total, with the taxes and service fee, I paid $1220. This was way more than I ever expect to spend on a lock but I figured it's an investment so this would never happen again. It is now September 2022 (10 months later) and the key has now gotten stuck in the lock that they installed and said would never get stuck. I called them and they stated that their warranty is only 3 months and there is nothing they can do. I reminded them that they said this wouldn't happen with the new lock and they just kept saying there is nothing they can do. I started looking into how to get the key out of the lock and it turns out, there is a simple solution of pressing down on the cylinder as you pull the key out. I tried it and it worked. I went back to the old lock which still had the key stuck in it and they claimed was seized and pressed on the cylinder and the key came right out. So clearly the key wasn't seized and I was just scammed into paying $1200 for nothing. read more

BIGGEST SCAMMERS EVER! My husband called Check Point Door and Lock this morning because the key for the door of our basement storage room broke in the lock. They charged $500.25!! He literally took 15 minutes to do it. I called the office when I heard and asked outright what they charge for removing a broken key and was told $75.00. I was also told that the labour would be $50.00 per hour. Instead, they charged us $135 to remove the broken key and $215.00 for a new lock (which I've checked on at the Home Depot it is only $26.00). I feel sick. The technician called back and told me that it was so expensive because it was a 'special' door (it's definitely NOT. It's in the basement) and that he put a 'special' lock on it. Again, it was a $26.00 lock. We got completely screwed. I wish I had seen these reviews before he called them. We will be escalating this to at least get some of our money back. Once the technician arrived, he said it would be approx. $400 plus labour. When asked how much the labour would cost, he wouldn't give an answer. After asking for an approx. hourly rate, he was still unable to answer. Big red flags, but my parents are good, hardworking people who trust in others. Upon completion, the total was $680! I live in Canada and this company charged me $397.65 for removing a simple lock. I had a single cylinder deadbolt that I needed open and I didn't want to risk breaking it myself. I accidentally left my keys inside the house and my wife was an hour away at work with the extra set. I called these guys and they literally told me twice that they couldn't pick it. I have no experience picking locks and I certainly didn't want to try myself. It took this guy 6 minutes to drill through the lock. Not only was the wood around the deadbolt charred and chipped, but they also told me it would be about $80 for a replacement. Of course I said absolutely not because I could just go buy one at Home Depot for half that price. Totally unprofessional and it wasn't until about a month later that I saw the CBS review on YouTube. On July 1st, 2021 I called Checkpoint Door & Lock to come change the lock on my house. I had a domestic situation and needed it changed immediately despite the Statutory Holiday. Only the deadbolt was replaced on my front door. The technician came and it was replaced within an hour. I paid the technician $479.12 by my Visa Credit Card and I was emailed the receipt. Two days after installation when I was unlocking my door the internal mechanism of the lock failed and jammed. I called the company to request a service technician come out to fix it as in my emails it states a 3 Year Service Warranty and a 5 Year Lock Warranty. I was am unable to lock my house now. When I called the company they said a technician would contact me when he was on his way. I never received a call. I called the company numerous times and was hung up on, sworn at, and no one has ever come to fix the broken lock. I have requested a refund from Steven the Manager and he constantly hangs up the phone on me. read more
