I'm the worst bride-to-be. I'm not exaggerating. It's as if I'm trying to be laid back about our wedding, but in reality... I'm a planner (literally, event planning is a huge part of my job). I'm hyper organized. I thrive on knowing without question that I found the absolute best choice when it comes to value and quality. That means I research like crazy. It's typically a positive thing, but then now and again I find myself paralyzed when it comes to the actual decisions. With dresses, it's been a mild nightmare. I bought a gown I love from Nordstrom.com in January and then I made the mistake of not fully committing to it. Instead, I've looked up dresses online and reconsidered/second-guessed my way into lunacy. Anyway, sorry for the preface to this review that basically outs me on being a cuckoo bird, but I think it's relevant to know where my head was when I was at Che Bella... i.e. not screwed on perfectly straight. On one of these aforementioned Pinterest binges, I called Che Bella to ask about a particular JLM Blush gown. The girl I spoke with on the phone seemed to totally "get" what I was looking for (non-poofy, non-strapless, something I can actually dance in and costs the least amount of money). They didn't have that particular gown, but she even said she would let me know if they were going to be able to get the dress in special for me to try on since they carry the designer's other collections. My budget is a bit of a stretch here, but I went ahead anyway because I felt like maybe this awesome girl will find me a dress. It was last minute, so I just went solo in between meetings in St. Paul the next day. My appointment, started off a little rocky with discovering that the person I talked to on the phone was helping someone else. My assigned consultant was nice, but sort of timid. She didn't really introduce herself and seemed slightly uncomfortable at first. Maybe it's because I was projecting my own weirdness about wedding dress shopping onto her. She did totally warm up as we went on, but she wasn't the usual over-the-top enthusiastic sort that I'm accustomed to seeing in bridal salons. I actually found it refreshing once we became buds and she was more comfortable. The selection is small, but beautiful, especially nice for those of us who aren't fond of strapless dresses. They had plenty of strapless too, but they have a little bit more variety in styles and shapes than some other stores. You could find anything from a destination wedding dress to a formal black-tie ball gown. And as quiet as my consultant was, she was very knowledgable about the fabrics, sizes and everything to do with the dresses. They carry Nicole Miller, Jim Hjelm, Alvina Valenta, Robert Bullock, Amy Kuschel, etc. The prices start at $600 and go up to the $5K range. I'm going to wrap this up now, but the accessories are BOMB. They have so many hair pieces, combs, veils, sashes, jewelry... and they are all gorgeous. So though I don't think I'll be buying my dress here now that I've come to my senses with the dress I already own, I'll probably stop back and try out some of the bling!

POOR COMMUNICATION, LOST ITEMS, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE FOR BRIDE…read more If I could rate this bridal shop negatively, I absolutely would. From the moment I began my experience, the staff were disastrously disorganized and communication was severely lacking. Although I found my dream dress here and decided to place an order--including additional items like a bow and skirt--I quickly regretted my decision. Upon receiving my order, I had to fight to have the missing items--ones I had paid for--delivered. To make matters worse, the bow that was sent to me was nothing like what I had ordered. The color, style, and fabric were completely wrong and didn't match at all. The bridal shop is virtually unreachable--no one answers the phone, and emails take at least a week to be acknowledged. I reached out multiple times asking for help in finding a similar bow, but I never received a response on how to fix the issue. Not once did they return my calls or address my concerns about a refund. This experience was nothing short of a nightmare for me as a bride, and I wouldn't wish the stress, tears, and endless time I wasted dealing with this shop on anyone. Flutter left me utterly devastated and frustrated, and I cannot express how deeply disappointed I am in this entire experience.

So when I started thinking about a wedding dress, I wanted to try to find a vintage number that fit both me and my style. I was so happy to learn about Andrea's because I wanted to shop leisurely (not get into an ebay bidding war) and try thing on (even if the measurements seem right, it may not look good once it's on). The shop is loosely organized by era, but you can pull from any rack if something catches your eye. I especially liked Andrea's vision in seeing how a dress could be altered--different neckline, shorter length, a change to the bodice--to fit the designs I was most interested in. A nice, low-pressure environment, but don't bring your whole entourage. There really isn't room for more than one or two extra people, and the dressing rooms are pretty small considering the volume of some of the dresses. Obviously the assortment changes all the time, but the day I was there I saw dresses ranging from about $300 to $1600. I was also impressed by the selection of vintage accessories, including sweet birdcage veils and embellished headbands.

I wasn't allowed to "shop" the store with my daughter and she was really rushed and pressured to try on dresses that weren't her style. We were never given a moment to even talk about the dresses privately, it all just felt very impersonal. She asked the canned questions of course, but it didn't come across as genuine. I had high hopes, but it fell short. Will definitely purchase from a different boutique.

I worked with Jill who was so fun and helpful. She actually pulled the dress that ended up being the one! If you are looking for a more unique dress, this is the shop in the Twin Cities. They have a variety of styles and honestly, I think I found about 5 dresses that could have been the one haha. I didn't feel pressured at all which was top notch for a people pleaser like myself. I felt so comfortable and was given the time I needed to think about my decision. From try on to ordering, it was all such an easy process. Nikki was amazing with answering questions after I ordered the dress and when it arrived in the store. They all really go above and beyond! Oh and the space...I don't think you could ask for a prettier wedding dress space. I just want to go back and hang out there. I received my dress 5 weeks late from their contractual delivery date with no explanation, proactive communication, or apology. I was assured that I would not need to rush order the dress. The dress fit me beautifully in the store, but I was encouraged to order closer to my listed size according to the designer chart, so I wasn't worried about it being late until I tried it on and it was 2-3 sizes too large. The tailoring appointments they offered were for dates before my dress even arrived. Being out of state, I had to bring my dress to another tailor that a friend recommended, who explained the dress would have to be recut and entirely reconstructed because it was so large. My measurements had not changed from the time I tried on the dress on at TWR 7 months earlier. The tailoring estimate was nearly 40% of the purchase price of the dress, so I reached out to TWR to express my frustration. They offered only $150 for a "rush fee" because it was late. They refused to acknowledge any accountability until I told them I lodged official complaints. When I finally spoke to Carmen, she accused me of sending fake pictures, my tailor of being dishonest, implied that I should be grateful because "some girls don't even get their dresses," and told me that I hurt her feelings telling her I didn't trust TWR to do any further business with or to stick to a contract when she offered to do the alterations in a few hours (the alterations took 3 days at my tailor). Their contract did not seem to come with any sort of integrity on their end. Your wedding gown is an investment and brides are under such tight timelines that you expect a luxury boutique to respect. Although many brides have had great experiences here, I can only speak for mine, and I would not trust or recommend TWR to do business with.

A similar style dress was a few hundred dollars more expensive here than in another shop we visited. Taylor did a nice job. She didn't ask as many questions as the other shop we went to but the dresses she pulled were right on. Parking in this area can be challenging but the nearby ramp provided ample parking. The shop was very cute and cozy. There were at least 3-5 groups in there so it was quite loud and busy. While we didn't get our dress from here, we had a very good experience. You get to answer a few question in the beginning to help you out the day of. This shop has beautiful beautiful dresses. I loved their selection and fell in love with a dress here and my gosh I can't stop thinking about it. I had such a great team (bridesmaids) helping me out and honestly can't rave enough about this place. It's so hard picking a gown and having a stylist helping you out go though different styles is super helpful. I didn't feel pressured to make a decision then about the dress but I left feeling like I had found the one. Now I did continue dress shopping as I'm pretty early on my journey but know that when it comes to making a decision at the end it will come down to one of the dresses in this store ( not the one pictured here) Honestly trying on dresses can be uncomfortable for people that don't have the type of body dresses are designed for so I'm keeping that in mind. I'm petite, midsize, and on the curvier side so I already knew when I tried on dresses they wouldn't fit me completely or some wouldn't go passed my hips which was fine but I was still made super comfortable! To get park here you are definitely going to want to use the parking garage near by or try to find street parking but that can be a bit difficult. I had suck a great experience here and will be coming back again to try on the dress I fell in love with.
