We visited the home/farm and were welcomed by owners, Jay and Kristelle Anderson, to have a first hand look. We found healthy, free roaming (in an expansive citrus orchard) chickens who appeared happy (if chickens can be described as such) and very friendly. At the time, Krystelle was in the process of collecting eggs and Jay was about to clean out the chicken coop which appeared clean, tidy and well maintained. Lastly, it was "icing on the cake" to learn one can come by anytime, choose fresh eggs out of the fridge, and leave your money in the jar.

This is a beautiful family-owned farm in the Fresno foothills. I have been several times in late…read morespring/early summer to pick or purchase cherries, and just recently went with a group to pick pomegranates in the fall. I think they may also have a berry patch, but I haven't been for that. Mountain Brook Ranch is a great place to bring the family to enjoy some time outdoors and to pick fruit fresh from the tree. It is easy to spot from the road, and has a lovely farm stand right next to a gravel parking area. Depending on the season, the farm stand has jams and the seasonally fresh/ripe fruit ready for you to buy if you don't want to pick your own. They also have buckets and pruning shears to cut the fruit off the trees available for those who want to pick their own. Please note that usually only certain trees or rows are available to pick from, depending on which trees have ripe fruit and which trees they are saving for other things. Surrounded by beautiful rolling foothills, this is a great family activity, and a great place to take photos while you enjoy time outside. She used Food4Thought, a company that had been delivering to nearby school districts, also shut down due to the pandemic, for her outlet. Worked for me as I was not comfortable going to Kingsburg to pick up blackberries and blueberries. Food4Thought has a convenient location out by the airport that was good for pickup once or twice a week. More produce was added. Fabulous fruit and veggie boxes were available. Bags of locally grown fruit could be bought at a low cost. How convenient, how healthy, how delicious. So, will Food4Thought continue to sell to the public after the pandemic ends? We will wait and see. I am hopeful.

This is an apple farm where you can pick your own apples for a small fee or buy apples already…read morepicked in their little warehouse where they also sell cider. We chose to just buy apples already picked along with some of the yummy cider. The apples were pretty good, better than a lot of store bought for sure, albeit a little pricey for what they are. But I believe most people come here for the experience of picking the apples themselves. I personally would rather have a superb apple. The cider was very fresh and delicious as well, although the cap on one of the ones I bought did not fit back on after opening so had to make a makeshift cap after opening. You don't need to make reservations. Just go up in their opening hours and either pick or buy. If I lived closer it would be worth it for me to go back and buy more apples, but the quality, price and distance doesn't make it worthwhile for me personally. But definitely a great activity to do with your kids, and nice grounds for a picnic lunch while there.
