I was surprised at how many salon chairs there were - about a dozen I think. I spotted a nail salon area in the back as well. The layout is spacious - you hear others around you but never feel in someone else's space or conversation. Reanna gave me a lovely haircut today complete with styled curls. She listened to my hair concerns, offered options, and checked in throughout to see if the cut and style was going as I hoped. I would definitely return here again and recommend to others. Oh and I almost forgot, there's a lovely little complimentary tea and coffee nook when you walk in :-)

I came in to see Jill by referral, and what a fabulous referral it was. She seemed to completely understand my hair without me having to explain anything to her. She managed to cut off a substantial amount of split ends (I went far too long in between trims) without it even looking much shorter. She is probably the first hairdresser I've ever met who has actually convinced me to keep up with my regular trims.

My stylist thyda took 30 minutes just to consult and decide on what is best for me. I felt like I was in good hands so I felt comfortable with whatever she decided. The products used were so gentle on my hair and really were conditioning to my hair. The color turned out natural enough but still trendy. It turned out better than I hoped for! My haircut was awesome too. She asked me what I ussually do and cut my hair depending on my maintenance needs!!! No other stylist has asked me that before...I'm super lowkey. I honestly let my hair air dry every day (it's all about the fabulous cut!). But my cut was done to perfection. It was an updated twist on my usual cut and made me look at least 5 years younger. Im old. So I'll take any improvements!!! They use high end products and I ended up buying some ombre products which are top of the line stuff. They also do eyelashes, pedicures, manicures, waxing and even make their own custom lipsticks. I tried one and the all natural oils used really moisturized my lips! Spoil yourself here. Showed 2 of the girls a picture (of me) asking for the same colour. with some subtle purple streaks instead of the dark ones in my pic. I came out with 4 different colours and severe blisters to my head. When I asked the stylist what we could do to fix it, the other girls in the salon came over and asked what the problem was, not taking responsibility for any action. I was told that they did not have time to fix it and was given a colour stripping shampoo to maybe take some of the colour out. Then I was booked in 5 days later to fix the problem. The cut is horrible as well. 1 side is longer than the other. I will never go back to this establishment.

I went to Bliss for about three years and switched from the salon I was visiting simply because I'd been visiting the stylist there for too long (yes, it's possible) and wanted a drastic change. I saw Diane's hair and commented on it before realizing that she was a hair stylist herself - it was incredibly funky and edgy and she totally pulled it off. I had never had short hair and Diane's haircut was quite short and unlike any style I had ever seen. When I visited her for the first time, we sat down and talked about what I was looking to do and my only criteria was that it had to be funky and drastically different than my current style so what I ended up with was a short fo-hawk with florescent yellow and blue highlights. On the surface it may sound extreme and not flattering at all but I absolutely adored it and judging by the number of compliments I received, I know others thought it looked great too. Since those crazy florescent days, I've mellowed out quite a bit and now have very long hair. Diane has always gone out of her way to make sure that whatever style I choose - crazy or not - I absolutely love it. Everyone working there gives fantastic customer service and the products they sell have always kept my hair feeling and looking healthy. Because I'm now much more thrifty on how much I spend on hair cuts, I visit salons much less often than I used to. Also, St. Albert is quite out of the way for me. However, if I ever want to go "out there" again with a look, Bliss will be the first place I go. To clarify: all the stylists do an excellent job of catering to whatever look you're going for. They do quite an extensive consultation with you before your appointment, especially if it's your first time visiting.

Now the "selling point" for me - a senior level stylist stepped in, listened to my concerns, gave some pointers to the first stylist, and totally turned the whole experience around. I've followed him since he worked at another salon. I recently made an appointment with Rich, on a Monday at 1:45pm. The whole process was fairly quick. My hair was long and had many layers. I wanted a shoulder length bob cut with no layers. I guesstimate that Rich cut off about 3 inches in length. My hair grows quickly and is also thick and heavy. This cut took a lot of weight off. I was satisfied with the result and it was exactly what I had asked for. Rich can also do fancier cuts and colours but lately I've been wanting a simpler style. Anyways, if your looking for a hair salon in the St. Albert area, give this place a try! To reduce your waiting time, I recommend booking an appointment.
