I didn't even know there was a ChaTime here! Being my second visit to a ChaTime ever, I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of choices available. Ended up choosing the Kumquat Green Tea, which was quite good. Love that they have the option to change the amount of ice and sugar as I always find these drinks too sweet! An awkward little space as it is longer width-wise, but definitely has enough seating area. However, the floor and tables were littered with straw wrappers. The line to wait to order and get the drinks was pretty long as well. Considering we came after 10pm on a Wednesday evening, and they had at least 4 staff working, there seemed to be an incessant line that never diminished... Staff (the only girl at the register that I saw) was pretty nice, though she seemed to be the only one actually working. Running back and forth cleaning tables and taking orders. I guess it is easier to understand the hype that surrounds Chatime in a location like this, instead of the one in downtown Toronto (which is tiny, kinda dark, and always has a slow-moving long-ass lineup that can stretch onto the street--that one's not a location conducive for hanging out). Here in Richmond Hill, with a saturated market of suburban Asian kids, the bigger and brighter and better laid out place lends itself to encouraging a better bubble tea culture experience. Even late in the night full of locals hanging out here there were some empty tables and a short and efficient order lineup. It wasn't so mad a scene. The Chatime stuff is delicious, yes. But still, if the excitement with the brand is all about the variety of choices and customization options, as it was explained to me, there's so many damn drinks and permutations of how you want it (how much ice, how much sugar, with tapioca, etc.), it can be more overwhelming than Starbucks in the search of the one you can call your favourite; the usual. Oy! At least this location has the initiative of displaying a popular choices screen. A lot of people, including a nuts-for-Chatime friend, favours their Roasted Milk Tea with grass jelly (at 50% sugar, no ice--how on earth did I remember that?). Spacious and decently quite. To avoid a huge crowd definitely come before 8pm on a weekend. Other than that service is average and drinks are the same as other Chatime franchise. I came here because The Alley was full. But overall it is an average bubble tea shop and nothing in particular stands out. This location is kept relatively clean and a variety of Chinese, Korean and English music playing in the background. I would say out of all the bubble tea places Chatime would have to be my favourite chain. Consistiently good. The one thing I found about this location is that the service is a bit slower when compared to other Chatime's. Usually within 1 minute the drink is ready but this one we had to wait about 3-4 minutes. Still reasonable but how come the other place is so much faster? I'm going to repeat what a whole bunch of people are saying about the roasted milk tea with grass jelly. Tonight, I came to this Chatime location for the first time. I ordered the regular sized grass jelly roasted milk tea, 80% sweet. I also got it warm (it snowed, then hailed today). It was warm, not hot because if it was hot, the grass jelly would have melted, or so the server graciously informed me. It was $4.20 before tax, including the grass jelly (because the grass jelly was a part of the drink on the menu). We came around 8:30, and there were a few tables free. Score! The table was clean and the chairs were cushioned and comfortable. By the time 8:45 rolled around, there was about 10 people in the lineup and I had bumped into 3 people (and I don't live in this area). The drink itself was warm in a very lovely way. It wasn't lukewarm. The grass jelly also didn't melt. The drink was lovely and milky. The roasted barley taste was very present in the drink. My mom immediately said she wished we had gotten the large size. Maybe next time. They are on the vicinity rewards system, so vicinity members, bring your card. read more

Finally, I came to check out this Chatime located at Richmond Hill store today. Actually, I sometimes like eating desserts and having cold drinks but not like crazy. Mostly, I would rather enjoy a perfect cup of coffee with a piece of delicious cake. However, after reading a lot of good reviews, I decided to try out at this place ... my order of a large Plum Green Tea and my friend's order of a large Matcha Mousse. I had lost faith in the bubble tea cuisine, if there was one. So many disappointments over the years of mediocre bubble tea at best, and truly sickening bubble tea at its worst. Then Cha Time came around, and from day 1, the roasted milk tea with grass jelly became a favourite. At 50% sweet, that is. Don't want to overload that tea taste! You can see, there's always a line at Cha Time locations, and this one is no exception. Annoyingly, the line snakes around to where people sitting are, but it moves fairly quickly. Cha Time has also switched to the Vicinity loyalty program now, which I find is less helpful to me....I'd rather SEE where my rewards are. This review should really be more of a 3.5 star, since it's my favourite of all the BBT places out there, but that would be a misleading statement. I came a while ago and discovered the Yelp Mango Twist when I did a check-in on a whim. It was definitely quite the treat considering their lack of Mango tea options on the menu. It was on the sweet side but it is definitely worth the try. Still waiting for the day they serve Mango tea as an option! I've had a lot of bubble tea in my lifetime, and Chatime's Ontario locations definitely rank near the top of my list when it comes to milk tea. Chatime Richmond Hill has been my go-to location since February 2014 and I've had the opportunity to try many of the menu items. This location has an average amount of seating compared to other Chatimes, so it can be hard to find seats on a weekend evening. The lineup can sometimes end up being over twenty minutes long on busy nights, with people lined up to the door. At other times, there is no wait. My favourite menu item at Chatime is the Grass Jelly Roasted Milk Tea with Pudding, 30% sugar and 30% ice. My second favourite is the Oolong Milk Tea, which is really good with grass jelly and pudding. The milk tea is very flavourful and consistently good. Also, the tapioca at Chatime has always had good texture - old tapioca (or sold out! - ahem, Tea Shop 168) is sometimes a problem at other bubble tea shops. The two drinks that I've tried that were really bad are the Chamomile Pomelo Tea and the Strawberry Rooibos Tea. I like pomelo, but they put orange peels into the cup, which gets sucked up into the straw and tastes absolutely disgusting. It was a huge hassle having to spit out diced up orange peels, especially since they mixed with the aloe jelly I got in my tea. The strawberry rooibos simply tastes like melted jolly ranchers. Really gross and disappointing. I've never tried the snacks at Chatime because they always look like they've been sitting out for days. Icing on the donuts always looks sweaty, the baked goods look dried up, etc. Apparently they taste okay, but they really don't catch my eye. Chatime's rewards program uses an NFC card that you tap upon paying for your drinks. You get one point per drink, regardless of size/price, and you get one free regular sized drink for every ten points. After 100 points (100 drinks), you receive an Elite/gold card that enables you to get large reward drinks with unlimited toppings, and a free snack. Pretty sweet (even if the snacks look old)! Four stars because, aside from the two gross drinks, everything else has been solid and consistent, the staff is efficient and usually friendly and the late weekend hours make it a great place to hang out with friends. read more

I ordered the Yelp mango twist with no sugar. It was half price so i can't complain about the cost. But I found it overly sweet even though there is no sugar. The mango flavour was okay though. 3 to 5 times per week? Yeah, I like it. Having first encountered Chatime in Mall of America, I knew it would be a good fit for Toronto. This is a modern operation, with stores popping up all over as the tea craze builds momentum. Compared with my reference "Go For Tea", there are significant differences. GFT is a full restaurant, and the tea bar is a higher end version than most other places. A large tea is about $5.50, compared to Chatime at $4.50. GFT uses a high quality jasmine tea with a strong floral taste where a Mango Green Tea from Chatime has a more flavourful mango element. Another favourite of mine, Coconut Milk Tea, has a wider difference. At GFT I can order Coconut Milk Black Tea, which I prefer for its rich flavour. At Chatime, they make it with green tea, still good, but worth the extra buck at GFT. The lineups can get big at Chatime, but they churn through the queue as fast as they can. I am a regular customer here and I never get bored of it. My points card gave me a free macaron and large drink after collecting 10 points (one point for each drink). The staff are very friendly and one even offered me a 10% discount cause I was off a few cents and said "I see you here everyday anyways". I usually love taro milk tea, but this place made it so i was literally drinking chunks of taro.... Prices weren't cheap either! Their black milk tea and their fairy vanilla milk tea tasted like almond soy milk (so you're better off buying that and drinking it) the service isn't really that friendly either. This is one of the best Chatime location I've been, it can be quite hectic sometimes cause there are so many people lining up. But so far the consistency of my bubble tea are still superb. It's funny to see some people commenting about the service. I don't think you are tipping them so I don't know what most people are complaining about. This location used to be the go to location for my friends and I. Heck I've had my fair share of Tinder dates here as well (I'm not ashamed I was on tinder mmmhmmm) I found the quality of the drink really varied. Depending on what you get it's great and other drink do not do it. I do not know if it's the drink fault or the person who is making it. There are times when the tapioca was underdone and too hard. The grass jelly has always been good though which I like to get. I find that when I order no sugar here my regular drinks are still sweeter than when I get them at a different location. I know when they make their milk tea and grass jelly there is already sugar made into it. So I never ask for extra sugar. But when so, the drinks are sometimes too sweet. Other locations I have not had that problem. The seating here is cramped. Tables are pushed close together you basically got to shimmy in between everyone. There's only one washroom here. Once some fool decided to clog the toilet with paper towels because they ran out of toilet paper. So that was mess. Other times the washroom is decent. I much rather go to the one at Markham VIP it's bigger and closer to home. Parking here is a nightmare. That's another headache. read more

I get that it's constantly busy there and the line never ends but the staff kinda look like they hate their lives.... Glad they opened up the Chattime up in Richmond Hill, so I don't have to track allll the way to downtown for my Chatime. However, the line is ALWAYS insane long - it really doesn't matter what time it is. I went here around 11pm at night and this place is packed! I do have to give them credit for being super fast and getting my order right. I wouldn't come here to "chill" though, the line pretty much circled around the seats that would make me very claustrophobic to sit there for a long period of time, having people hover around me and my conversations. Chatime has recently exploded in popularity with its new store openings in the GTA. Coming from a student who spends far too much money on inflated drinks from TenRen's, I'm actually extremely satisfied with the price of Chatime's drinks in regards to its quality. The lines are long... and I'm not going to say it's worth the wait because it really depends on your patience, but I found that the line moved pretty quickly. It's much faster than other bubble tea stores for sure, and you can definitely tell that the staff are trying their very best to fulfill all the orders. My favourite drink is the Red Bean Milk tea with 30% sugar. It's light, refreshing, and the red bean gives it a natural sweetness that makes it super good. Chatime's drinks often have a much more mature taste... if that makes sense, but it's a taste I really love! I've also tried the classics roasted milk tea with grass jelly and pearl milk tea. It's great to have a Chatime so close to home! The lineups have died down and they have become a lot more efficient compared to when it first opened. I find there is usually little or no line, with the exception of weekend nights, especially in the summer. I always find myself getting the Roasted Milk Tea (with grass jelly or tapioca).. as with most bubbletea places, you can choose your sweetness level (0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 100%) and ice (less, regular, none). I find a lot of these drinks are way too sweet, so no sugar or 30% is usually my preference. Chatime also takes the Vincity rewards card, so for every 10 drinks you get 1 regular free, as well as a free drink on your birthday (if you have it registered). read more

Also, as we were driving home, I noticed the bag holding the drinks felt a bit wet.
