It's clear the productions here are thoughtfully crafted and showcase a lot of talent. That said, I was a little disappointed by the accessibility of the theater. The walk from the parking lot to the building was a bit longer than expected, and once inside, there were quite a few steps to navigate to get to the seats and bathrooms. This could be challenging for anyone with mobility concerns. On the positive side, the theater itself is cozy, and it feels like there isn't a bad seat in the house. While the accessibility could be improved, the quality of the performance and the welcoming atmosphere make it a place I'd consider returning to--especially for another show of this caliber.

They also closed off the wide archway (which allowed the flushing sounds of the closest restroom bleed into the house). Now only a single curtained entrance remains six or seven feet from where the rest rooms are. They did a fantastic job and from what I understand, the lobby will be further renovated in the future as well as other construction to help make the theatre the best it can be. I saw my first performance at the DLT in 2007 and got involved with the theatre in 2011. It really is a charming space to enjoy community theater and (should the reader be inclined) to get creatively involved. Unfortunately, its location in a residential area on a rather hilly section of Dover, NJ is perhaps the only considerable con regarding the theatre but there are ample parking spots about and a municipal parking lot two blocks away for theatergoers. I gave this theatre a four star review only because of the few shortfalls that naturally come with a small theatre. The theatre has no room for tall sets but for a small historical theatre but the stage has a wonderful width and depth that's been home to some absolutely wonderful sets, excellent productions and first rate performances. There is no way this theatre can compare with the Paper Mill Playhouse, but among the many community theatres in Northern New Jersey, Dover Little Theare more than holds its own and on those special and not seldom occassions, surpasses them with the quality of the acting.

The venue was really intimate and every seat in the house is a good one. My son really enjoyed being able to sit up so close to the action. All the actors were from local schools, and they were all excellent. The Simbas, both the young and the older version, were real standouts. Really friendly staff as well. If you have some time to kill before or after the show, there's a great little playground right next door.

According to the website, "New Moon Readings provide playwrights an opportunity to hear their work read aloud by professional actors, and to receive supportive yet constructive feedback." For viewers, it's an opportunity to see a creative work in progress and hear directly from the playwright, which I thought was really cool. I randomly came across the read-through of TRAD on their website, and booked tickets online (free - but you can also donate what you wish). It was a neat experience and would recommend it!

It is amateurish, booring and both loud at times and too low to hear the characters dialogue at others. The theater is comfortable, beautifully renovated, and intimate (although the acoustics can be tricky if you do auditions there! It's rather dead.). Performances generally are solid, production values are good, and all in all, they usually do a nice job with whatever opera they are producing, and they choose some interesting pieces here and there. Ticket prices have gone up quite a bit over the years -- tickets for the operas will set you back $55 (vs. Met weekend prices: Front Family Circle: $42; Balcony is $80 -- sure you are up high, but it's the MET!). The last opera I attended had a ticket price of $35 .... and I considered that high, as I could go to the Met for less. Still can, obviously.....

I can only assume from the architecture that this intimate theater used to be a church. I went…read morethere this past weekend to see a friend perform. While I had an aisle seat, I found it difficult to see around the person in front of me. In addition to being short, there is no downward slope to the rows of seating at Dreamcatcher. The only other comment I have has to do w/ the restroom in the lounge area. It's a single restroom with a large window. The lower half of the window is frosted, but the upper half isn't...That wouldn't be much of a problem if there wasn't a mirror on the opposite wall. The theater has a three story house as a neighbor and the third floor window can see the reflection in the mirror, therefore the person on the toilet. I admit I was disturbed by that. Also, not sure if this is true for all performances and it wasn't a big deal for me, but when we went to Dreamcatcher on Saturday night, the audience was 75% adults 55+.
