Convenient, clean, bright, and welcoming! Chateau has done a great job with the esthetics of this place! Our barista was lovely, kind, helpful, and patient! She took an idea of a coffee and made the most delicious and nutty pistachio latte! There are plenty places to sit and gather or work solo while smelling the amazing aromas of all the coffees. Located in a plaza, there is plenty of parking. They offer sandwiches and sweet treats as well, the baklava is homemade! When in to try the flights, paid $27 for two flights (4 4oz ish cups). The syrup was all at the bottom, a failure by the barista. If the espresso and syrup is mixed before the milk is added then you don't have this issue. The whip cream was horrible, it tasted bad and wasn't fully whipped so it turned to cottage cheese texture and made the drink chunky. Overall the drinks weren't great. The "Saugatuck Dunes" was overpowered by the pecan, the rose syrup in "Lake Harbor Beach" just wasn't great. Overall the atmosphere of the shop was stale and looked like it was straight off Amazon. There is also have a sad self serve clean up station. Drinks came out fast and staff were friendly. Just not worth the price. read more

We were looking for a nice coffee shop to hang out at grab a cup of coffee. We found this place on grand River. It just had a weird vibe. I'm not sure what it is. We walked in and I didn't feel comfortable being there. The service was fine. The prices were super expensive. A cup of coffee with flavor was $12.95. I end up trying the small Americano for 395. It was OK. Nothing to break about. Won't be coming back. The place itself was clean. I will say in the parking was convenient. And the location was convenient. There's a lot of tables for those who want to study here and there were people hanging out. read more

So happy to have a Chateau Coffee near campus. The feel is a little different than the Lansing location (which has a cozier vibe) but is every bit as clean and welcoming. Qualify of the coffees and food are on par with the original location. My items were ready quickly, hot and fresh. Staff are new and getting into the swing of things, are friendly and happy to answer questions, though some seem a little shy at times. To my palate, this is some of the best coffee in the area. I went on a summer day when there weren't many people there so I expected a light and friendly atmosphere. I immediately felt unwelcome by the staff. I ordered a hot drink, but an iced drink was set down in front of me and the barista mumbled something that I couldn't hear without really making eye contact, so I wasn't sure it was mine. She then looked at me with an unfriendly expression and said "that's yours". When I said I had ordered it hot, she just kind of stared at me. I felt uncomfortable, so I asked if it came in hot and all she said was "yeah" and looked around like she was annoyed at the thought of remaking one, so I said it was fine and took the iced drink. There was no apology for the mistake. Afterward, I watched her walk up to the cashier and say, "she said she ordered it hot," and they talked about it in a way that seemed like they didn't believe me which made me feel even more uncomfortable. I took my drink outside and went in a few times to get my food, napkins, and water and they were both usually gone in the back. The whole interaction felt rude and dismissive. The coffee wasn't great, it didn't taste like the flavoring at all, and the coffee beans tasted burnt. A drink plus a breakfast sandwich came out to almost $20. I won't be coming back. read more

Just average for food and drinks. All plastic package. It's not an ambience it is a convenient and quiet study place. They do offer a variety of foods. For going out of the house and price I would rather have vibes. But if you are very keen to study in a quiet place this is for you. read more

Stopped for coffee with a friend. Disappointed that a flight of coffee was $13. It was 4 shot glass sizes of coffee. WHAT???? Combined it was not a medium $6 coffee. Coffee was typical, nothing special. Glad I stopped but would not go back. read more

Using a French word in the name does not make it French! In fact it is quite of the opposite of a French Cafe. There is no vibe, unless you consider "bland" a pleasing aesthetics. Nevertheless the girls that served us were super sweet and nice and for this we would come back again. read more

We were the only customers in the store.And there were 2 girls behind the counter.And yet when my friends coffee was ready they made her get up to come get it. I've been to this coffee shop 3 times and I wanted to love it, but I just don't. I hoped that this could be my "spot". I do a lot of coffee meetings for my job and I was thrilled to have a better option in this area but so far it has fallen short. First off, the space is really uncomfortable. There is only one cozy spot and it's right by the door, plus it's set up ackwardly for 4-5 people rather than a couple spots that can accommodate 2-3 people. The tables and chairs are not comfy and the space isn't warmly decorated. The shop is too small and it is packed every time I go. There is a huge need for a few cozy coffee shops in okemos and this could've easily been double in size. I've also been disappointed by how rude the staff is. I am used to super friendly baristas and here I have approached the counter a couple of different times and they completely ignore you, won't look up, and just keep making a drink. The extra employees seem to always be in the back room when they are not ringing someone up. Unfortunately they made my drink with cows milk when I paid .75 extra for oat milk. I went up to ask because it tasted off and the girl didn't really seem to care much. Someone remade my drink and yelled out to me instead of walking the 5 feet to where I was sitting to hand it to me. I don't know, the vibe is just off here. So much missed opportunity. I will say the coffee is good and I've had the açaí bowl twice, it's decent but nothing to write home about. If you need to grab a coffee to go, I think you will be fine but if you're looking for a new hometown coffee hang spot, I'm not sure you will find it here. I am hopeful that they will make changes because other reviews say their original spot is really cozy. I will definitely try it a few more times because I know that opening a new business is tough and they may just need time to work out some kinks. read more
