I would love for every visit to this great beach to be accompanied by a spot at this very parking lot, and would consider it nothing less than an epic disappointment if the goal was unattainable during one of my visits here. I cannot recommend this parking destination of luxurious wonder enough, as I am still reeling from my exemplary experience made even better by my comfort of knowing I left my vehicle in nothing less than the most capable hands available. Park here and prepare to be in nothing shy of awe of this incredible temple of motor vehicle shangri-la. Not sure how you bested us here, but you certainly have. You are - however - superior to us in parking garage options. And by that mean I mean, Portland has a dozen garages - anyone of them might run you upwards to $30 for five or six hours of parking (I kid you not) and most of them close at a certain point, so if your car gets stuck in one... well, have fun with that. Oh, and they're almost always full. Now... take Portsmouth. One real parking garage. Only $1 an hour. Open 24-hours a day. Always parking spaces. How is this magic even possible?! I don't know, but like others before me I implore you to skip the stress of street parking and just come right here. You won't have to worry about moving your car from a 2, 3, or 4 hour space (which in the end is probably gonna cost you the same as just coming here), and you're within walking distance to EVERYTHING. What's not to love?

The parking attendants seemed indifferent and offered no real help (even though I told them what time I got there and they have security cameras) and no explanation. They then blamed me for not going straight to the window at the time we didn't receive a ticket. A bit of accountability and friendly customer service would go a long way here. This was an unfortunate situation and was not done intentionally and the attendants seemed to blame others who have lied to them in the past for their lack of understanding and poor customer service. It was my 30th birthday so I guess, happy birthday to me! Do better!

When we lived up here, it was always fun doing this, exploring some little village that we hadn't visited before. Newburyport was one of those destinations for us. You can take trips like this in other parts of the country, but New England because of it's age and history, is just brimming with places to visit. They also have an abundance of individually owned shops and stores in the downtown village, while the harbor is full of nautical things to see and do. We found Newburyport to be a cute little fishing village, which is not too far from the Mass/New Hamsphire border and is well worth a day trip. Very nice. We took in quite a few historic sights, did a bit of wandering around shops, visited a couple of local restaurants and very much enjoyed ourselves. Parking is in paid municipal lots around the outer edges of the downtown area. The streets are too narrow (historic) to allow parking on street. We did hear a couple of tradesmen working on a restoration project talking about parking. One of them had not paid for parking and his companion said the ticket for not paying was 'only $35' which was about what he'd pay for a day of parking anyhow so he should 'just let it ride'. So yeah, parking. Even our waitress had to pay to park. Ouch. That's a big chunk out of your daily wages. One of the comments we often hear is Portsmouth is a city that feels like a small town. I agree. Everyone we encountered was very community focused. They all seem to know each other and are happy to make suggestions of places to try or hacks to know navigating the city.
