If you autocross, track your car, or both, you've found your dude. I backed into a curb at an angle and thought i tweaked my wheel. I asked one of the recommended dudes on the s2000 message boards if he'd take a look at it. He said that he honestly didn't know what to do and to come here. It's important to note that this was a referral by a respected mechanic. I show up and Randy's a one man operation. Don't let that fool you though. He took out his rulers, strings, the whole shebang and told me the wheel was straight and the frame was good. Since then, I've brought my track car to him untold times for alignments. Here's the takehome message: alignments are not just about numbers. Every car is slightly different, and everyone's driving style is slightly different. Numbers for one car are not going to be the best for another. What Randy does is get a ballpark alignment, have you actually go out and track the car, and then he'll tell you to bring it back and look at the tire wear. At that point he'll ask if you want any adjustments (under/oversteer) etc. He has you sit in the car while he aligns too, which I don't think the plain jane alignment places are okay with. After each alignment he'll take the car out around and have you drive it as well. He takes pride in his work and it shows. I know in LA everyone swears by West End, but I'm not heading all the way out there when Randy is here, has flexible hours, and there's always a free Pepsi for me. read more

I have been going to Randy for the last 6-7 years and have recommended him to countless people that have been coming to him repeatedly and Randy takes great care of our cars. Most of us have modified and track cars that are always driven on the limit at the race track and Randy makes sure these cars perform at the highest and safest level! The cars drive amazing after he does the corner balance and alignment on them read more

Randy knows what he's doing! I have a 2016 BMW 535i and about 2 years ago, had coilovers installed onto my car. I had the typical alignment immediately after. Multiple alignments have been done since, have had uneven worn tires in the rear and have had 2 sets of tires replaced after only 15k miles . The car never drove like it did with the stock suspension. The steering wheel would shimmy, highway driving always felt like the car wasn't well grounded. Going over any bump felt like the car had a mind of its own, going left and right. Well after an alignment and corner balance by Randy, I never imagined my car can drive like it does right now. He's a one man show and I wouldn't hesitate to bring any car to him. read more

Took my 2015 Mazda CX-5 to Randy for a four-wheel alignment. After I installed some racing coilovers to lower the vehicle, the alignment was all screwed up. The camber was way out of whack on all four wheels. I installed the necessary hardware to adjust everything ( some cam bolts for the front and the adjustable bracket for the rear) and he was able to align it so well.. the car glides down the road now and corners perfectly... if you need a great alignment..... hit him up! read more

So let me start this off by saying I started a Header, Up Pipe and suspension/ chassis bracing project myself in my driveway. Well I hit a snag and had to call a professional when things wouldn't go back together right and required some precision violence to coerce things back into place. So I called my normal exhaust guys American Muffler and I explained my header situation. They then recommended me to Randy at Chassis Masters. I gave him a call, no hesitation he had me bring it in the very next day. We unloaded the flatbed tow truck and pushed it into the garage. I told him very briefly what happened and what I was trying to achieve, gave him a huge pile of parts and away he went. With a heritage in Porsche racing teams there's not much this man hasn't seen. He got everything installed and torqued down in short order and away I went. About a week later I noticed some odd sounds coming from the front suspension so I gave Randy a call, and again he got me a time to come in ASAP. He came for a ride along to hear what I was hearing then put it up on the rack. Damned if the noise wasn't the sway bars I installed myself but didn't torque down properly and a clearance issue with an aftermarket Downpipe. He made a couple adjustments and torqued down some bolts and sent me on my way free of charge. AWESOME! Randy is a true professional and very passionate about cars and racing. Everything will be done correctly and you can bet your life on it. And in my case he pointed out my bad work and probably saved me a bad accident at high speeds. Also let me add in that on both visits to Randy's shop he was visited by EVERY other mechanic from the surrounding shops to ask him to work on their personal cars. So if the guy is getting hit up buy guys wearing the ASE Certified Mechanic patches on their uniform I know I can sleep soundly knowing I got the best guy to work on my precious ride. Thanks for everything Randy, I'll be back for the rest of my build! read more

I went to see randy because of these yelp reviews on April 14th, 2017. And I know you're thinking why is this review so late? ? Well, it's a long story. I don't have a race car, and definitely nothing fancy. It's a simple 2002, 4 cylinder toyota rav4. If you have one, you already know, you are basically "Captain Slow." But I don't care. I love my little car. However, it had one major flaw. When I bought it, it was less than a year old and had been in a wreck and as a result, the front right passenger tire would forever wear down on the outer right edge. I had numerous alignments over the years and it was supposedly always "within specs", but it never stopped wearing down that passenger tire. I had resolved myself to the fact that I would simply have to buy a new tire and realign, every year and always with fingers crossed I would hope it was magically fixed each and every time. But within a month I could always see the old familiar balding pattern. *heavy sigh* Most people would've probably gotten rid of the car for less than that but I have forever been one of those idiots that gets emotionally attached to inanimate objects, so my car and I are basically best friends for life. So! Sick of wasting money, I would peruse yelp in hope of an alignment savior. Found Randy and he fixed my dang car! I refused to believe it. I kept swearing that the tire was balding again. I'd ask all my family members, strangers at the mall, etc, "does this tire look worn on the outside to you? " no was always the answer, but I was paranoid. Well, I'm happy to say that after almost 2 and a half years, I haven't had to buy yet another tire and yet another alignment!!!! Randy is worth his weight in gold. If he can't fix your alignment issues, no one can. He even centered my steering column that had been off as well. Fixed! And fixed! I should probably add chassis masters to my christmas card list or something. My wallet thanks him, and my relationship with my car has even improved because I no longer harbor any resentment for her flaw. She's perfect now. Worn paint and all. read more

Randy did an excellent job installing suspension and doing an alignment on my car. I definitely recommend Chassis Masters. Great service, and the car looks and drives great now. Thank you Randy! read more

Highly recommend this shop for anything related to car suspension. Randy was very polite and approachable with booking my appointment as fast as possible. He was extremely transparent while working on my car, advising against the very minor alignment that he could have done on the back wheels. I like that he didn't take the easy 77 dollars off me. He also inspected my car for other minor issues, fixed my heat shield rattling, and read off my check engine light. Throughout the process, I heard some awesome stories about car racing, photography, and surfing! Very interesting guy to talk to! Oh and I walked away with a vintage bowling ball case (and the ball) from the 50s that he happily got rid of. Haha what a great experience! read more

Brought my '05 STi in to Chassis Masters to install a set of BC Racing shocks and follow up with a necessary alignment. Visit was by appointment. Randy took the vehicle in the morning and it was ready in the afternoon. There were a lot of options on the shocks for height, stiffness, etc. and Randy communicated with me several times during the course of the install to make sure it was set up how I wanted, and he test drove the car several times to make sure the job was done right. Driving is a pleasure again. So glad I (finally) replaced the stock shocks and that I went to Randy at Chassis Masters for the job. read more

Excellent service at a fair price. Randy has worked on my Classic 63 Falcon Sprint, My son's 04 Focus, and my wife's 04 Mini Cooper S. All I can say is I concur with the other posters and relied on them when I initially contacted Randy. read more

I went to Chassis Masters for a front end shimmy. I'd been to the dealer and an independent shop without a satisfactory result. "we fixed it, pay up" ygbkm! Randy diagnosed the problem immediately and I was under way in ninety minutes. As a former maintenance mechanic i truly appreciated this man's skill and attention to detail. I'd trust him from brakes to bodywork and anything in between. If you're inclined to hang out and chat it's worth it. I LMAO! read more

I called a few places, but had the feeling this guy is being "real" with me. He explained to me what the problems could be, and offered options based on what I wanted to happen. Randy's knowledge of suspensions is on target. He is a Master at making your ride right. Honest work -- and I even paid less than what he quoted over the phone. Turns out I didn't need some of the projected work. Race car quality approach to his work is awesome. Lots of surfing and racing pics, he is an interesting San Diego history buff. I will recommend this place any time someone I know is having issues w/ suspension. His approach to treating your car, like he would want it to run is the best! read more

I cant imagine having a better experience, i took my car in because of a misfire. turned out it was a blown head gasket and stuck valves in cylinder 6. after taking the head to the machine shop it was discovered that it had cracks in it,. randy spent no time locating me a new head and installing everything. when i came to pick up the car he had saved the old parts and showed me exactly what had failed. all in all it was a great experience and i will not hesitate sending anyone i know to this shop. also it was cool to hang out a little bit and learn some racing history and look at all the photos he has shot over the years. read more

This shop is owned by a really nice guy. I brought my wife's car in for an exhaust leak, and the owner popped it right on the lift and got to work on diagnosing the problem. He pointed out a few non-related things like worn bushings and seeping oil, but did not go into "sales mode" for one second about them. Diagnosis was completely free & he wouldn't even take the few bucks I offered him for his time. I drove away satisfied after finding out that my problem was not major, and to fix it would cost a ridiculous amount anywhere. Bonus; he gave me some tips on a job I'm doing in my garage on our other car & he was spot-on (solved my problem)! read more

Took my 1966 mustang in to Randy to fix a really annoying rear main seal leak that was dripping oil all over my garage. He is Very familiar with older Mustangs (he used to race them). In addition I had him install a front disc brake conversion kit for the car. Bottom line is that' my car hasn't leaked a drop of oil (or anything else) since I got it back 3 weeks ago. My new disc brakes stop on a dime and I'm a happy customer. read more

First of all--I found my San Diego race shop for life. Randy will always be the first guy that I take my Lotus Seven (replica) to. He's personable, knowledgeable and if you're interested in learning a little something he's more than happy to help. His knowledge regarding suspension, alignments and how your car should function is incredible, he has a great wealth of information and it is definitely apparent just when you talk to him. Whatever he doesn't know, he's up front and honest about. He runs his shop the way he should--for you. He will find you the RIGHT fix and not the one that will cost you the most. He is trying to make a customer, not a quick buck. read more

Randy is great and very knowledgeable when it comes to cars. Quick service and very reliable! Great prices too!

I am french, I bought an old Mercedes and he was the only one able to really take care of it for 8 months - Friendly, fair price, good advice, small shop - Randy is the best guy in town actually. read more

Wanted to give Randy and Chassis Masters a solid 5 star review for his 5 star work. Brought my 17 wrx on stock suspension minus Perrin adjustable rear sway, SuperPro poly bushings and Kartboy endlinks all around in for a custom alignment the other day. First off everything is appt only and there is only 1 car at a time. Some might find this annoying bc the wait for an appt might be several days to several weeks. IMHO it is way better bc good things take time and you know that your vehicle is the number one priority when you are in getting work done. The time it takes can very depending on what you want which Randy will make sure to ask if you have specific numbers you want to meet. My alignment with all test drives took only 1.5hrs I have seen reviews for up to 4hrs with aftermarket suspension with a lot of adjustability. Randy is very knowledgeable and is very honest with answering all my questions with no BS. It is rare to get the type of one on one time at any shop that you get with Randy. The car has never felt so good with my new alignment and that is as I said on stock suspension. One suggestion that Randy gave me and is great for anyone looking to increase their suspension performance is to get as much seat time as possible before throwing aftermarket parts on the car so you know what you really need for your driving style before spending your money on unnecessary parts. Alignment should be first along with wheels and tires then if needed add new parts then realign. I will continue to get all my suspension needs met with Randy at Chassis Masters and will recommend any one who wants a fair price and over the top service to try them as well!! Thanks again Chassis Masters!! read more

Randy aligned and corner balanced my Exocet kit car. Since this car is newly built, I just went with Randy's suggestions on camber, ride height, etc. He really nailed it. The car is wonderfully balanced and forgiving. Tire temps were within a few degrees from inside to out on all four corners. In the hands of a driver much more capable than I, the car took first place in class at a recent autocross. Thanks Randy! read more

I found Randy and Chassis Masters via Yelp. And, am happy to report that I agree with the high ratings that made me decide to go see him, as well. My Audi roadster was eating up tires due to a very bad alignment after I drove across a median that stuck out farther than I thought, and it tweaked the left rear tire axle beam. Other estimates to fix it were in the 2k range. I watched Randy measure the alignment situation and he was able to solve the problem with shims that cost me just a little over $200. Go see Randy. He's very nice and easy to work with. :) read more

This guy lives up to his reviews without a doubt. If you are a car enthusiast, consider your car your baby, and want nothing but the best for an alignment this is your guy. He will set your car up how you want, if it's for daily driving or extreme track he will get you where you want. I have a 2001 Audi S4, with a complex suspension system, with aftermarket koni adjustable struts, H&R springs, and front adjustable upper control arms. He literally spent 3-4 hours on my car, had me sit in it to get it just right and road tested at least 4 times making final adjustments. I was shocked to see someone actually care enough to take time on my vehicle and get it right. In a city where careless mechanics who are looking to turn and burn, this guy is a breath of fresh air. I have had 3 alignments over the past several years prior at various laser shops and was never satisfied and they took maybe 45 minutes and didn't bother test driving the car.. The time and attention to detail showed as a drove home with a vehicle that tracked straighter then it had in the 5 years i've owned it and had improved steering response and handling confidence. Being a one-on-one appointment based service you get the time and attention your car deserves. I will be coming back for future suspension changes and other vehicles. Thanks Randy! read more
