A great find. Sanbao Chinese Kitchen opened in January and is in an area that was crying out for a…read moregenuine Chinese restaurant. The menu must be one of the best outside of Chinatown featuring gorgeously-flavoured dishes not seen in standard Chinese restaurants. For example, the sizzling fillet steak, fried shredded potato (exactly as found in China) and sago soup dessert. I was thrown by the egg fried rice being listed as Homestyle Fried Rice but the friendly staff (seemingly all genuine Chinese) guided me as and when needed. They do takeaway too which is a bonus for us locals. Sanboa is very near the cinema in King Street and are round the corner from Ravenscourt Park station. Highly recommended.

These're much better than the restaurant in China town, and even much better than some others in China!! Highly highly recommended!!!

I guess this is because its the closest to the Indian-Chinese food that he grew up with. I ordered via Hungry House which had an offer of free prawn crackers for bills above 15, but if you call them directly, they offer free dishes on each bill threshold. The food arrived quite quickly and was piping hot. The crackers were packed separately, so they hadn't crumbled. Quantities are large & prices are low, yet it is high on taste and quality. A perfect combination for takeaways & home delivery. The only 2 dishes that fell in the middling range were the pork dumplings because their wrapping was on the thicker side and the Thai red curry, that was more of a side dish than a curry. They tasted good, but did not meet my expectations, especially compared to the rest of the food. The roast pork fried rice and the chicken chowmein were very good, with lots of flavour and tender meat. Not too oily (the bane of many takeaway chowmeins) The sweet & sour chicken hong kong style was yummy and the first time that I was able to eat pineapple added in sweet and sour dishes because it wasnt too sweet or sour or squishy. The kung po pork with chilli was the standout dish of the day. Just the right amount of chilli without going over the top. Really loved the food from May's & I'm guessing that we will be ordering in from here whenever someone is in the mood for Chinese :) #YelpEveryDamnDay

Absolutely delicious Silk Tofu with crab meat- flavorful, perfect with the bread bowl. Jiu Niang (glutinous rice with rice wine)- really fragrant. Prices reflected accordingly to being a hotel restaurant and thus higher than the standard high street Chinese food. Part of the Dorsett hotel outside Shepard's bush Green. Four stars is for the appetizer and general ambiance. The Lychee mojito with fresh lychee was a refreshing drink, but somewhat pricey given it's non-alcoholic. The sesame prawn on toast was the highlight of the meal, the best of its kind. The hot & sour seafood soup was quite good, a brown color rather than the red style that you sometimes see. Not that much seafood though. This part seems to be a trend here. Because the Seafood fried rice with black truffle sauce didn't have much seafood at all. Very small pieces of chopped shrimp, that way you have no clue how many shrimp they have given you. Then only a few small pieces of white fish. The egg tasted freshly cooked. Overall tasty but I need more seafood than this. The black truffle was spread out specks in the rice, it was not a sauce as advertised. Not really what I pictured at all. The Singapore noodles looks very nicely presented and with 8-9 large shrimp for £10 seems like a bargain, but it's very oily and no spice at all. And then the dish wasn't warm enough. It's too bad because it's a very nice place for dinner and the staff are quite good too. Ended the meal with Green tea creme brulee. The green tea is like a paste and not too sweet, the way I like it. I'm getting more and more keen on green tea desserts, maybe its an acquired taste for some. They also have black sesame ice cream which sounds interesting.

Dim sum in London? Yes, absolutely! If you know where to go…read more.. Just like So Cal, the best Chinese restaurants in London are not located in Chinatown. Royal China is in the Hyde Park area, across from the northwest corner of the park (Princess Diana Memorial Playground). It is literally just steps away from two tube stations -- Queensway on the Central Line or Bayswater on the District or Circle Lines - so you can easily get there from almost anywhere in central London. The dim sum was legit and comparable to some of the top players in the San Gabriel Valley. I was particularly impressed by some of the dishes that are hard to find outside of Hong Kong. FRIED MINCED CUTTLEFISH BALLS: Even some of the best dim sum places in the SGV don't offer this or can't make it right. But this was perfectly 5 stars! The batter was light, and the minced cuttlefish filling had a good consistency and bounciness. The cuttlefish filling was mixed with some chopped water chestnuts which was the authentically correct Cantonese recipe. It was delicious and without even a hint of fishiness (GREAT!) PAPER WRAPPED PRAWNS WITH SESAME SEEDS: This is another bold and hard to find item. The wrapping tasted like bean curb wraps and it was deep fried. The prawn tasted fresh and again, without a hint of fishiness. A generous sprinkle of sesame seeds added the final touch to this delicious and creative dim sum plate. TURNIP CAKE: Pan-fried to a nice golden brown, these slices of turnip cakes were truly my cup of tea! Without the fishy dried shrimps that so many restaurants in the SGV tend to use, this dish was like a breadth of fresh air! Instead of dried shrimps, the cakes were mixed with small pieces of cured meat (Chinese sausage) that gave it a truly Cantonese flavor. The other dishes were good but not as impressive. SIU MAI was good and was comparable to those from an average SGV place. The black bean sauce of the PORK SPARERIBS was yummy but the dish was mostly bones with little meat. We also ordered a CHINESE SAUSAGE AND CHICKEN RICE which was topped with small pieces of thigh meat that were rather bland. The only flavor for the rice came from the Chinese sausage. Overall it was still a delightful and solid 4-star dim sum experience. I will definitely be back the next time I find myself in the streets of London.

The prices here are somewhat high for the dim sum, but you get elevated classics like siew mai…read more(shrimp and pork dumplings), lopatkou (fried radish cake), various tools with bean curd skin, chagio (Vietnamese fried spring rolls).
