He also gave me a number to the seal beach branch directly, or so I thought. I called that 562 area code number and it's the same thing. That agent at least told me I didn't need an appointment and said just go on in. But by then I was on hold for a total of probably 40 minutes, doing other things so didn't matter but still a little annoying that not all agents know what end is up or that you can't reach the branch directly to get any cogent answers. Branch itself was nice, but all in all some needless rigamarole that can be streamlined for better efficiency, especially when the Yelp page indicates appointment only when that is not the case. Mark Garcia helped me and was courteous. Parking is ample in the strip mall where it's located. Curious to know from the negative reviews what "policies" don't help customers, it's nebulous so I guess I'll see what time reveals. There were 2 men at the front assisting customers. Saw no woman in the branch, per what a negative review indicated so hopefully whatever issues in the past have since been corrected.

I've observed a decline in their services over the years, prompting me to gradually shift my funds to School's First Credit Union. The only reason I maintained my account was out of nostalgia, because my grandfather, who had a career in aerospace, has passed away. I visited the Long Beach branch after being assured over the phone that any location could assist me in resolving an account that had been written off, allowing me to restore it to good standing. While the staff member I interacted with at the Long Beach branch was kind, the limited assistance available was frustrating. When I attempted to reach the contact center again, a representative disconnected the call while I was trying to clarify whether another branch (this branch)could accept my payment, which would save me a long drive. It's disappointing to witness the decline of this credit union and to experience the lack of empathy throughout the organization, including the lending department, which seems to have no support for members who may be facing temporary financial difficulties. I've worked for many financial institutions over a 10-year span, and I know that they tend to value the wealthy clients/customers, so I'm not surprised they were interested in assisting me or providing above-and-beyond service. The ladies at the branch were aware that my account wasn't going to be reinstated. I was informed that the branch manager had the power to make that decision, yet Debbie acted as if she needed to escalate my request to someone higher up, which I suspected was untrue. I decided to play along with her and the associate who was assisting me. They led me to think that if I cleared my credit card balance, there was a chance of reopening my account, which is quite misleading, especially considering the current economic climate. All this took about 2hours to complete while my 4month old and 16 year sat in the car and waited for me to finish what should have been a pretty straightforward transaction. Having worked in various financial institutions for a decade, I understand that they often prioritize wealthy clients. I wasn't surprised by the level of service I received, or the lack thereof. However, I firmly believe that every customer, especially those who have been loyal for over 20 years, should be treated with appreciation and respect. The associate told me she would give me a call or I would receive something in the mail and gave me her card. Me being nice I won't include her name if she sees this review. She'll know I'm referring to her. Unfortunately, the phone call or letter has yet to be received, and I'm not surprised. While observing the branch, I noticed that the setup is quite inconvenient for older clients, many of whom struggle to use the virtual teller machine. This lack of consideration for those who aren't tech-savvy forces bankers to interrupt their work to assist clients who are having difficulty with the ATM. Ariel sat very patiently while I was fighting a meltdown from forgetting my code to open my phone. Forgot my password as well. She did not make me feel stupid. She was so supportive. You need to remember that there are baby boomers that are still struggling with technology. To charge a person $5 for a statement is ridiculous and not fair. I did call Mon afternoon but the fraudulent transaction hadn't posted. I was advised to call back mid week to get an update, meanwhile my debit card was cancelled. When I spoke to the supervisor by the name of Ashley for faster resolution, she helped none. Why isn't this banking institution unable to stop a pending fraudulous charge to save $ and aggravation to client and banking institution? I must start to look for an alternative banking instituion as F C B refuses to act in the best interest of its clients.

I sent the signed document and waited 6 weeks. I called and was told by Elan- the name of the credit card company- that I was sent the wrong form to sign and I was sent another form. I was told to wait a week. Two weeks later and after repeated calls and rejections of my card, Elan reps told me they would "File a Complaint" within their company, and that I could not receive a letter to verify that this was done, nor do they know who I should speak to. I also approached Comerica Bank on Ocean Blvd in Long Beach, and the bank in Marina Del Rey where I own a property. The bank managers pleaded "no knowledge" on what to do, since it is an Elan credit card. Grant it, that it is Elan at fault, the card says "Comerica" and none of the 3 managers mentioned were able to help. I am switching banks next week. I have been driven insane with this poor service. Otherwise, the banks are clean, safe, and people generally pleasant. However, my credit score for a card that has been "closed" or "in question" has gone down. I blame Comerica. It is an unacceptable way to treat clients - I guess they have plenty and I am not a high roller. However, my credit score has always been in the 800s and I worry for what it is today! Enough is enough.

Tiffany Cleveland listened to my situation and began to help me out. As she was working away she informed me that I could apply for a Consolidated Loan and how much money I could save. I agreed. Lisa Davila then contacted me and she carefully explained the terms and she answered all my questions. American First Credit Union saved me from getting "Scammed" , thanks also to the representative who began all this with a courteous and quick phone call.
