I've been to many a karaoke bar (from the Mid-South to the Midwest), and I must say that Chart Entetainment has the best sound quality of them all!! Even if you are a shy, quiet singer, or not confident in your singing abilities at all, the sound quality will make you feel like you are a 'star' (or at least like a better singer than you might imagine you already are). D.J.'s Chad & Zack Attack also give you a lot of freedom to perform the songs how you want to. I've been to shows were arrogant D.J.'s wouldn't let me sing songs with female vocals (in falsetto) because I am a man, or they didn't want me to scream during more agressive songs (even though that's how the song is written! You would think, if they didn't want you screaming, they wouldn't have the song available on their system!). Speaking of song selection, Chart Entertainment has an extensive list (that's updated quite frequently) that may surprise you. I've found many a 'rare tune' that I love to sing, that other places simply will not have. They even get current radio hits almost as soon as they become available in karaoke format...just ask!
I've been to almost every show they host (regrettably, with the exception of the Harwood Post shows due to my work schedule, but I hear it's the best one!), and each one has it's own unique feel to it. I tend to favor the wild, party atmosphere of Double J's on Saturday nights (there is even a 'makeshit' stage to stand/dance on!), but I also enjoy the more relaxed atmosphere of the Paulie's Pub shows. There are some really great performers on each individual show, but you might have to go out on specific nights to catch them...which is why I strongly recommend you check out each one (when you can).
I try to sing at as many different places as possible, but I often find myself attending Chart Entetainment's shows (more than any other) because of the show's overall quality (and the camaraderie of those who follow them). Be brave and go check them out solo, or bring your friends and family, but be forewarned...it may be habit forming!! read more
