Todd worked with that perfectly, providing a seamless sound system for both areas, along with a mic/stand for our vows and headset mic for the officiant. On the wedding day, we were running a bit flustered from photos when we arrived to the event space. We had not had a chance to meet Todd before that but once we arrived, he immediately put us at ease. He was already set up, dressed well, and greeted us in a warm, professional manner. He guided us through every moment of the night, from announcements to the first dances and cake cutting. It was a huge relief for the day. One of our biggest fears was that people may not dance much, especially with guests from different backgrounds. But Todd was exceptional at reading the room and getting the party started. Both are true professionals with years of experience and we didn't have to spend hours sorting through song lists as suggested by some other companies we considered. Neil was easy to work with before the wedding and provided advice whenever we asked for it. He made sure to have the specific versions of several acoustic songs for the ceremony and timed other special moments well. We did have a few bumps when a toast-giver was mistakenly introduced to give a blessing and the sound went out once during the ceremony. But the sound quality was perfect otherwise and Neil handled some tricky name pronunciations well. Thanks for making our wedding day fantastic!

Before the reception got started he even saw me having a heart-to-heart with my 95-year-old grandmother, and noticing that the photographer was still outside, snapped some candid shots for us! We planned our wedding out to great detail early on. Early on we decided that we didn't want a DJ; we had both been to weddings that had DJ's that turned the wedding into a 4 hour advertisement for their company. I had all of the music on my iSomething and the hall was able to accommodate us just plugging in our music and hitting play. 3 weeks before the wedding my lovely fiance' sprung the change on me; she thought a DJ would be a good idea. After my initial shock and protest, as well as her saying she had a friend of a friend that knew someone that had worked with a guy that knew this DJ company (OK, it wasn't exactly like that but they were referred to us)... I said OK and called them up. After a brief round of phone-tag, Clara and I got in touch. We talked through the date, the times, and what we wanted for the wedding. I was initially apprehensive because I had 50+ songs already picked out that we HAD to have at the wedding and she said that we needed to pick 5 "must have" songs. As leery as I was, we agreed to have her DJ (Ed) meet with us. Two days later (we talked on a Saturday, met Ed on Monday), Ed drove out from the city to our home in the 'burbs to meet with us. From minute one we were comfortable with Ed. Him and his fellow DJ (I think his brother) are the primary guys doing the gigs and they pick who does what based on Clara's phone screening (they tailor the DJ to the type of party/people involved). Ed is a Chicago native with a cool demeanor and he can handle anything you throw at him. We talked through our concerns about advertising, the song list, and what we needed to have played, and at every turn, he was cool with it all. Ed reviewed our song list and made some recommendations that were absolutely spot on; some songs that you and I may THINK are great to dance to... aren't. Some that we might think won't work in a dance... will. I gave Ed some creative license; songs I had planned for the dinner he moved to the dance time. Some that I thought would work for dancing he moved to cocktail hour. It didn't matter. I gave him a list of 50+ songs that we needed to have played. At the end of the night he came to me all excited that he got them all in except one, which was amazing; it was an eclectic mix! More than just playing the songs, there were, as there are with any wedding, changes to the schedule. We pulled dinner forward in time, we extended the dancing, we changed up the order of the special dances and the cake-cutting. Ed rolled with it all. We had a child-meltdown because he missed HIS song. Ed played a 1-minute snipit of it to avoid a very important child to us from focusing on missing his favorite song. After the wedding, everyone that we've talked to has said that everything went well but everyone that really knows the behind the scenes parts has said that the DJ was particularly outstanding. Ed did our wedding proud. His whole DJ booth was set up in the corner, with discrete black scrims shielding the lights from his laptop, the mixing board, and the whole setup was as unobtrusive as I've ever seen. At the same time, the music was loud enough to keep the dance floor going but not so loud that it drowned out conversations off of the dance floor. At the end of the day, could we have saved money with an MP3 player and an audio cable? Yes. Would that have caused MORE stress, probably caused some mis-timed music, some long pauses, and made us unable to change up the order of the songs based on the dynamic nature of events like weddings? Yes. Was O'Dea Entertainment a good choice for our wedding? Yes, Yes, a thousand times Yes. Thank you Ed and Clara for making our wedding sound amazing.

As a bridesmaid & an event planner all I saw were red flags. I jumped in for the poor bride, so she could actually you know, prepare for her day. I found Chris via Yelp and placed a call. A super awkward one in which I had to share that, oh yeah, the date of the wedding was today. Miraculously Chris was free that evening, familiar with the venue and willing to jump in. About 90 minutes later he was loading in and setting up. I had literally texted him song titles for key parts while getting ready and he kept very incomplete and messy information organized and in the correct order for the ceremony. What's more, during the cocktail hour, he took the time to get the bridal party's names correct - down to the pronunciation - for the reception introductions. He also spent time getting to know the couple, and even worked with the bartender to be sure guests of honor were never without a beverage. Finally, his DJing during the reception was incredible! So much fun with the perfect mix of classics, new songs and special requests. At one point he even joined in on the dance floor to keep the party going. It was such a great mix of music and once the dancing got started it continued straight through to the end. I appreciated how attentive he was to details and how seamless it was to work with him in a time crunch. Even having just worked with him for one day, it was so clear he takes time to get to know his clients and how he can create a perfect event for them. He's very much the type of wedding vendor who will make the entire planning process smoother and more fun for couples. My book club girls were taking their clothes off 10. Our guests were whipping napkins and scarves around their heads... like helicopters All this awesomness is solely due to the talents of one helluva DJ, Chris Colton. Chris kept the party going with killer music from the second those dinner forks went down, and guests from ages 18-75 were all acting kray until the very last call. Chris played dance music, rock music, and everything else we asked of him. Leading up to the wedding of the year (ahem, that'd be mine), Chris had us fill out a form that covered every basis possible. Definite play list, over my dead body playlist, stop the party for this song, etc. He also had us time out the reception to make sure we stayed on track, and worked with my wedding planner to put together the perfect agenda. Chris also took the time to put together a fantastic montage about our alma mater, Marshall University. We Are... Marshall!!! Hell yeah we numerous grads chanted that, and Chris made it happen. And when my sorority wanted to sing off pitch to Livin' On a Prayer and then stomp on the floor, he made sure that happened too. Chris has really comparable prices to other Chicago DJ's, but I don't think their skill set and enthusiasm can match his. Chris made our wedding a party to remember (and for some, one they want to forget, heh). Additional to the emailing, Joe & Ken video-called us one week prior to our event to review the reception timetable, song requests, and venue details. Months prior to our event, Joe and Ken provided us access to their client portal. This portal allowed us to add the reception timetable, the names of our wedding party, songs for our grand entrance, the first dance song, the last song of the night, and other must-play songs. Joe hit every song we requested that night, including the Filipino line dance song in Tagalog. The dance floor was never stagnant or empty. All generations had the best time on the floor. If you have Spotify, then building a custom playlist for the night is easy to transfer over to the client portal in two mouse clicks. Speaking of the grand entrance, since my wife and I had a small ceremony last year with our immediate families only, we worked with Ken to customize our grand entrance to include a video of our ceremony highlights projected onto a curtain. We wanted our extended families and friends that were not able to witness last year's ceremony to watch our special moment as if they were there, too. Ken was able to edit our highlight video to 2-3 minutes. Once the pronouncement occurred in the video (I now pronounce you... you may now kiss the bride), my wife and I burst through the curtains like a high school football team at homecoming with our banger entrance song. The grand entrance was GRAND AF and our guests were hyped. We were told by numerous family members and friends that it was the best entrance they have ever seen - the projector image was clear from 100 feet away, the song was fun, and the timing was perfect. Also, our family and friends loved the Walking Photo Booth. Typically, my wife and I would wait in long lines at other weddings for the photo booth. This time around Mike from Amp Event Professionals had a handheld ring light photo booth that walked up to us. He was able to capture all the guests throughout the evening in their most spirited moments - into photos and GIFs! Super cool tech, super worth the add-on cost. We made sure to clear this Walking Photo Booth with our photographer since we were basically doubling our photo amount. My only suggestion when working with Joe and Ken is that you should hydrate a lot leading up to the celebration because both my quads cramped up hard that night from dancing so much. Seriously. We were all jumping, moving, and grooving for hours straight. Overall, they exceeded our expectations and gave us a night that we will cherish forever. This meant that he would record my Husband and I talked about how we met and basically tell our love story while the bridal party is walking down the aisle. Ken came over to our home and recorded us separately so I had no idea what my other half was saying until the Day of. Listening to it during the ceremony has me SOBBING even before I stepped out to walk down the aisle. After the ceremony, he sends us the clip allowing us to be able to listen to it over and over again. We already can't wait to work with him for our reception next year!
