    Veggies/ sauces for tacos

Love these tacos! I have been going here for years hands down best tacos around! I have tried many places around town and this place is the best! The waitress even remembers me and my usual order!

This was the absolute best taco I've ever eaten! Super authentic and the tortilla was to die for. I cannot wait to go back and try more items. Def a hole in the wall, but man was it good!

The table service includes complimentary chips and a mild salsa. The salsa was just okay. My steak taco was very good. The meat was tasty, but I missed the many options of a toppings bar. The wait time was reasonable, the dining area was clean, and the service was fairly good, but with some language barrier.

Ah, Independence Avenue with its colorful street posters encouraging exploration and tourism up and down the lowly boulevard that serves mostly as a connector between other destinations. How's that tourism thing working out? Note to those responsible for those signs whom I assume are property owners seeking gentrification in order to increase the prices of their properties: other than Mexico and very, very few African joints, mostly Halal, get your countries and continents straight. No Australian eateries, sorry, nor South America that I've ever seen. Hint: Mexico and South America are not the same. Believe there's one single Asian food place occupying a lonely vacated storefront on the far East end and how much longer it's there, no telling. Nope, it's still the home of poor people and mostly fine food, 95% of it or more, Mexican, and certainly the city's most visible burgeoning food truck mecca. There are destinations here that are simply spectacular. Best kept food secret in KCMO. But I digress, me, apparently the 15th white Yelper to review Charritos. In my never ending quest to try every restaurant on Independence Ave. between I-435 and Brooklyn, I found myself here parked in front of a massive Carne Asada plate, and it was fine, mostly. The steak was flavorful and had a good sear, lots of flavor, hint of just the right amount of pepper, though a tad tough. A lowly cut elevated nicely. The rice and beans commendable, but the sauces... dreadful. The red, bland and mostly tomato with nary a hint of jalapeno, cilantro, onion, salt or anything else good going on. The green sauce, apparently from the same creator. Mexican grandmothers are rolling over in their graves. The chips on the table a tip of the hat to U.S. expectations. Not a bad thing I guess. Oh, but the onions on top done to perfection: juicy and flavorful, accompanied by a few corn tortillas that had been wrapped up a tad long. The lone dollop of guacamole on the plate, hint of brown/gray from sitting too long or not enough lemon or lime juice added. The interior is uninspiring, not an unpredictable factor when you're next door to a check cashing facility and a second hand store. Cleanliness... sketchy, and the strangest located light for the men's restroom in recent memory. Don't ask. But if the food is good, I can live with most of this. In an area with a lot of very good competition, the food here is OK, but not great, and there is great within a mile multiple times. My being the only diner over lunch on a Tuesday does not bode well for their future. I hope they're hopping at night but have to wonder. Bonus points for "horn" listed as one of the taco options. Thanks, I'll pass, but five stars to the graphic designer than attempted to translate. If you come: - Univision blaring loud, predictable and annoying game shows - Good service - Watch the potholes in the parking in front - Credit cards accepted - Contrary to reports, outdoor seating to the East but not open for lunch

Third time I've come. Everything we have tried had always been really yummy, fast, hot, very nice service and good ambiance for the Mexican restaurants in the avenue. Came here with my brother the first time 4 months ago, came in another time for breakfast, and today. I will post a review and pictures of the first visit later...today as per our tradition we ordered 3 things to split: enchiladas, flautas, carne asada. The carne was so tasty, with cactus, raja, avocado, rice, beans and hot tortillas... the enchiladas had a yummy green sauce, r & b and the barbacoa flautas (5 per order) came in crispy, with a lovely serving of avocado. This is the first restaurant that we actually go to for a second time (both my brother and I) for our monthly brunches... so yes, we like it, and we think it should get more business because it would be a shame if it were to close.

Charritos is a nice stop along Independence Avenue for Mexican food. The steak tacos are good, but lacking in options for toppings like you would find at most places with street tacos. This is more of a sit down restaurant with a vast menu. The salsa wasn't a favorite. Service was super friendly. Our server was very patient as we worked through the language barrier and there were no issues with our order.

Enchiladas verdes with a fried egg on top. Yum.

Of the Mexican restaurants on Independence Ave, Charritos is among the best. It's humble and unassuming, yet very clean and with a nice atmosphere. Atmosphere is an element often lacking in a lot of the Mexican restaurants in the area, most if which have decent food but no attention to the experience if dining: decor, music, lighting, etc. Charritos has a flower arrangement on most tables, is brightly lit, plenty of windows and natural light. The food is nicely presented, with very generous portions. And very inexpensive. Their salsa verde enchiladas were delicious, as were the flautas and steak with nopales. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

    Tacos!!!!

I am a regular here. The tacos are delicious and food service is good. Authentic Mexican food. Mexican sodas and Mexican drinks (horchata and jamaica) served as well.

Fantastic dinner!…read more Amazing food! I had Mole Enchilada with rice, and ordered seasonal vegetables as side. Our table also had table side guacamole and salsa and chips. That mole was amazing! I'll be back - the mole and guac makes my mouth water thinking about it. The Mole Enchilada with chicken was so delicious - deep flavor with juicy shredded chicken. The seasonal vegetables included broccolini, carrots, and asparagus - slightly crunchy, just the way I liked them cooked! I also had a La Chimosa cocktail - c a m a r e n a tequila blanco, l i m e, a g a v e, g r a p e f r u i t soda, passion fruit - pretty good. I enjoyed the ambiance - lots of beautiful art on the walls, subtle lighting, green plants, tasteful decorations, table lines, and relaxed atmosphere. We were there on a Monday night - it wasn't busy. It was a great place to go for our business group of five. Servers were friendly, especially the woman at the front as you entered. We had a nice chat while I waited for the rest of our table to arrive. They validated parking in the garage next door - so keep that in mind if street parking is unavailable. Pricing was what I would expect for this nice location. It was $$ to $$$ depending on what you ordered. I would definitely go back and recommend!

After the host "checked," he suddenly found a table and seated us, but his attitude felt dismissive and unwelcoming from the start. We began with chips and salsa, which were actually very good. We also ordered two café de olla lattes along with chilaquiles and the chorizo Benedict. Our drinks never arrived, and when our food was brought out, our server Santiago noticed and went to check. I asked him to cancel one latte and just bring the other, but it still took another 10 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, the cup was chipped, making it unsafe to drink from. The food itself was underwhelming--the eggs on the Benedict were overcooked instead of runny as they should be. On top of that, Santiago only checked on us once, and that was just to drop off the check. Overall, the service felt inattentive and the experience didn't match expectations. We left unsatisfied and likely won't be returning.

I just took a swing at it, picked up a menu, and stood there. It took a while for somebody to acknowledge that I was there. The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. If you've never been, you should come and see what your opinion is, but really cool aesthetics and great views.

Food: The food was good and had flavor, the presentation and portions were not bad. The starters were small so be sure to order multiples for larger groups. The fresh oysters were really good, the paella was really good and large in portion size great table shareable or as a entree. The cheese board had a really good variety of cheeses and crackers with some fruit. That was a nice little gem on the menu. They do serve alcohol but could be a little more consistency on the pours. Two of the same drinks tasted completely different and they do have a wine section. Service: The staff was nice and quickly provided seating for our large group of 10 people. Our waiter was great! He took orders checked on us and provided some really good feedback on menu items when asked. Thank you, Atmosphere: I love the decor! It was rustic with hand pai ted murals and gave a artistic vibe to our experience. However, I was not a fan of the metal tables, it felt to industrial and the tables were off balance as well. The size of the table were also interacting as they seemed really skinny and most likely ment for smaller groups like 2 people. The ceiling at La Bodega was the best part of the decor. It was such a great twist on smearing colors together. Price: Coming from Los Anegeles I thought the prices were right on targetand fit with the portion sizes. Location: It's located in Kansas City Mousori. Parking: We ubered to the restaurant but parking did look to be tight on the street side not sure if they have another lot in the back.
