Food and service are always great! Ate outside patio with a large group on a beautiful evening.

The food was amazing! The patio is dog friendly. We liked it so much that we went back for lunch the next day. Highly recommend it!

There are a few reviews that say the service here is terrible but personally i thought it was quite nice. The waitress asked how everything was, we had silverware & plates at our table, and she even asked if everything was ok. I had the gyro sandwich & margherita pizza. Both were pretty good. The potatoes the gyro comes with are baked. Although i was expecting a little more flavor from the pizza sauce, overall this place was decent. Bathroom was clean and the place felt spacious. Also, it was nice & cool inside. I was super hungry & ate a whole pizza by myself. To me it was medium size which was just enough for me. If you're going to order pizzas here for a couple people i recommend getting 2 at least. No complaints although i had mixed feelings that our drinks came in jars but its big enough you don't really need refills. Nice area. Decent. read more

order to go- pizza, salad and desert. Called to say we didnt receive the brussel sprout ceasar salad. Repeatedly was telling me the sprouts are shredded-i know as Ive have the salad several times!! It was not the same salad. Not even sure of the dressing-and she told me it's because they use oil. DUH!!! I know what the dressing tastes like. She wanted me to send a picture of the salad. Doubt if I will go back there with service like that. Pizza was good, salad was lettuce with tomatoes and onion. Have no idea what the dressing was and there was no brussel sprouts shaved or whole, but we ate it as we were hungry. Poor response from the manager!! read more

Great pizza and salad, got the lunch specials. Even though the top crust of the pizza was charred, the flavors were delicious!

The food was good. The server was super friendly but man, they are slow. If you go on w Friday or weekend, plan to wait a while until your food arrives. Our main courses were served at the same time as our appetizer and salad too, which sorta defeated the point of ordering an appetizer. Oh well! Maybe next time we will do takeout. read more

I am staying in Oro Valley for a year for work. We have been looking for some amazing pizza places, and after reading the menu, decided to give Charred a try. I actually arrived alone with the intent of taking left overs home to share and watch a BB game. First impression was that this is a neat little place with a decent atmosphere. That first impression lasted 2 minutes. I approached the Host/Cashier stand asking for a table for one. I was met with, you mean just one person? Once the shock was gone, the host tried to seat me at a dirty un-bussed table. Apology given and accepted, 7 minutes later I was finally sat. A 2-top table right next to the oven, I did enjoy watching the pizza maker. I am not sure at this point if my server was supposed to be the bartender or someone else, but after 9 minutes the bartender made eye contact and said she would be over. Unsure how long that took. I had already memorized the menu and was ready to order. My order consisted of: water diet coke house made Amaretto Flatbread app with toppings Sausage/Fennel Pizza What I received: water house made Amaretto Flatbread app with toppings The Amaretto was the only saving grace for the restaurant. The flatbread had such a large amount of garlic on it, I was unable to eat more than a piece. My Sausage/Fennel Pizza never arrived, well not until after I stopped the bartender and said, can I get some service? it had been 22 minutes since my app was delivered, and had not had a check in. I told her, please just box this up and have my pizza put in a box as well. No questions about how I like the app, or if I did not like the app since I only had one small piece. Manager walked by several times, made eye contact once and never stopped. Thankfully ISU was playing on the TV, I am an ISU grad and Iowa native. Fast forward to taking the pizza home(7 minute drive). The pizza was RAW, the toppings did not even stick to the pizza, they never had the chance as it was so under cooked. The amount of oil that dripped off the pizza made the crust stick to the parchment paper. We placed the pizza on a grill to finish cooking it. I made it through 1/2 a piece, my spouse 1 whole piece. The Pizza and the flatbread made it into the garbage. We then ordered takeout from another pizza place on N. Oracle....thank god they were open. Poor greetings, slow slow service, over priced, and sub-par food. Lesson learned....and will not be back. read more

Food was good, but service was terrible. Ordered an appetizer (bread) and it took 45 min and they claim the oven had to be restarted since it stopped working but how were all the tables around us getting their pizzas then? We had to wait another 20 min (so 65 min now from the time we ordered) to get one pizza. Tables around us were getting appetizers, pizzas, drinks no problem though. I think they forgot to put our order in and tried to blame the oven for not working? At least be honest. read more

This is a cool place to hang out with friends or family. I've seen big groups, too. They have a big selection of beverages alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Their pizza is really good, I love their crust. They use the same dough for their sandwiches, which is really good! I can't put my sandwich down because its so crunchy! I love everything here! I will definitely come back to try their pasta. I highly recommend this place for pasta, pizza lovers. read more

Margherita pizza with impossible sausage. It was a tasty combination. My mother had an Italian beef that was loaded with me. And they gave us an absolutely huge glass or shall I say jar of beverages. We also asked to bring out a bowl of chicken for our dog piper. And they brought out a healthy portion of sliced chicken breast. He was absolutely delighted. I can't stress enough how wonderful the staff here is. We eat on the patio with our dog. And they bend over backwards to accommodate us. Patio has misters and was super comfortable. And you can get a beautiful view of the Catalina foothills. If you're in Oro Valley or passing through it's a nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal. read more

We had a large group there today and I can't say enough about our server, I believe her name was Leslie. She handled our group line a champ! Some of us had to have special dietary restrictions (vegan) while some of us changed our minds after the initial order was taken. She smiled all the way through our orders, serving and making sure everyone got what we ordered with satisfaction. We even gave her a loud round of applause in appreciation. Our attendees all seemed pleased with the food. I enjoyed my meal of the soup, salad and arugula and prosciutto pizza. read more

We ordered chicken Parm sandwiches for lunch this week and quite frankly while I was eating it I thought to myself this is OK but I wish I had just gone to Chick-fil-A it would've been about half the price and would've tasted better. I can see from their menu that they are definitely trying to make unique items and be thoughtful about their menu generally but for me the chicken just wasn't that moist. Also the chicken normally comes with red sauce and unfortunately I can't eat red sauce so I requested a white sauce instead and they said they could do that over the phone but then when we picked it up it was without white sauce and they said they didn't have any white sauce so I don't really know what to say about that. All of that being said I think we will give it another try maybe the pizza is good. read more

Went on a Saturday evening around 6pm got in w/o wait. Now it is July in Oro Valley. Ordered the meatballs and they were fabulous. Ordered a pepperoni pizza with onions and it was very good. A couple things to improve on as I see they follow Chris Bianco and his legacy. Pizza should be cooked about 1-2 minutes longer. Also, had excessive juice which probably from pepperoni or onion. Dry them both before assembly and then you have the perfect pizza. Great pizza oven as well. read more

"I'd put that sh*t on everything" is a slogan I'd steal to describe the apricot jam on the wood fired bread appetizer. I dare you to dare me to hold me to it. Yes, it's that's good. Speaking of jam, the Fungi pizza is my "jam". The mushrooms give an earthy and savory flavor and satisfying chewy yet soft texture. Oh the basil is very fragrant and fresh. Did I mention it can made vegan by substituting the mozzarella cheese with plant-based cheese?! In fact, Charred Pie features Impossible Foods branded plant-based products which can substituted on many of their pies. There's also a vegetarian pizza available but it's not listed on the menu. There was a discrepancy between the price of vegan cheese and other toppings listed on their website and menu. Fortunately I was charged the lesser price of the two but I thought I'd let this be known. read more

Yes, the name of the restaurant is Charred Pie, but they have so much more on their menu. Try a salad, sandwich, or pasta if their style of pizza isn't your thing. We went today for an early dinner and were seated promptly. Our server asked if it was our first time in. Upon leaning that it was, she pointed out the happy hour menu, offered some suggestions for dishes, and gave us a few extra minutes to look things over. We ordered two farmhouse salads and goat cheese arancini as our entree. All were delivered promptly and were good choices. The salads had ample fruit, goat cheese, and pecans. They also were well-dressed, so request your dressing on the side of you like it light. The arancini came with a sweet house jam and a marinara sauce; both were fresh and flavorful. It was nice to switch between the two. The three of us decided to try dessert too. One ordered a warm butterscotch cookie with ice cream that was served in a small cast iron skillet. The remaining two shared a special s'mores dessert that was large enough that all of us could have shared. It was heated in the pizza oven and tasted just like a campfire s'more. Our server checked in with us several times throughout our meal - attentive without being overbearing. There are very nice mountain views from inside the restaurant and from the large patio. The food is better and less expensive than Noble Hops. We'll be back. read more

Something Has Changed at Charred Pie -- this restaurant has a lot of heart and the wait staff certainly gives it their all. But the food here used to be so, so much better -- interesting ingredients, tasty and well-prepared. No longer the case -- they have lost a lot in terms of presentation, quality, and preparation. I ordered the Farmhouse Salad and quite honestly, I thought it was a prank. There was easily the equivalent of an entire grocery-store sized, full bag of salad mix on my plate and that was pretty much it. I removed two heaping side plates of lettuce to see if there was anything else underneath. Here's the run-down: 5 blueberries, no feta cheese, 1 pecan, and 3 dime-sized pieces of pear. My husband's house salad was a similar construction -- all lettuce and little else. His meatballs were lukewarm and tasteless. I will say the brussel sprouts were good, but I wouldn't choose a restaurant because they have good brussel sprouts. Hoping Charred Pie can find their way back to quality food that is well-prepared. The meal was a disappointment. read more

I have to say my first impressions were not great. The ambiance did little for me, although my wife did like it. The menu was not exciting and seemed a bit pretentious. Perhaps the worst thing was the display of desserts by the cash register. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for nice-looking sweets. The problem was that these weren't nice-looking; in fact those that didn't look desiccated looked like they had gone to sleep. Despite my doubts we stayed, far too hungry to leave. Then another negative: somehow our order took forever. So slow that they comped us one of the two appetizers we ordered, which was nice of them. At this point you are probably wondering why four stars. The answer in a few words: incredibly good food. We had the Korean wings, which were to die for, and the meatball appetizer which were as good as any meatballs I've had in years. This was seriously good eating. I will add that the service, once the staff realized how long we had waited, was very good and attentive and we did appreciate them taking off that appetizer. read more

Charred Pie - Crowded this evening. - Pizza Near Me - Oro Valley, Arizona

We love Charred Pie. They have the best wood-fired pizzas in Oro Valley/NW Tucson. We recently enjoyed lunch on their patio. There's a lot of outdoor seating, heating, and misters so it can be enjoyed heat round along with an outdoor bar. We ordered their lunch special. Margherita or pepperoni personal pizza and a house salad for $10.90. I like that it is available on weekends too. (Open - 3pm daily) The house salad is a half-portion but I found it to be pretty generous with the portions of cucumber, tomato, and red onion. The lemon-basil dressing is one of my favorite dressings ever. We've been a few times for dinner and I'm excited to see Pineapple Express is a permanent part of their menu. I recommend trying it if you like pineapple on pizza. The pineapple, pancetta, jalapeño combo is *chefs kiss* Takeout is also available. read more

Charred Pie is our favorite pizza place in Tucson, and we have been going there frequently since 2020. Both the service and pizza has always been extraordinary, and in the early days the owner would check in with us to see if we enjoyed the meal. Our dinner tonight with 5 family members was a far different experience. Our reservation was at 6pm and the place was empty. The hostess seated us and we waited and waited for somebody to come to the table. After 15 minutes, with the place still empty, I went back to the hostess and asked if they had assigned a server to our table. The hostess assured me they had, then watched her go over to the bartender and chat with her. Eventually the bartender came to our table and took our drink and food order Another 20 minutes went by with no drinks, so I went over to the bar can could see that the poor bartender was covering about a dozen tables, plus the bar, clearly overwhelmed. I complained politely, then waited another 10 or 15 minutes before the drinks arrived. Then after another 15 or 20 minutes our food arrived, with the pizza not particularly hot and our requested "well done" pizza limp as a noodle. The limp pizza was returned to the oven and eventually returned more cooked, and we ate the less than ideal other pizzas. I do not blame the bartender who was really hustling, it seems more of a staffing issue than her performance. The staff was apologetic, so I will give them credit for that. That being said, this is by orders of magnitude the worst service I have ever experienced at Charred Pie. It will be a while before we return there for another pizza. read more

I've mulled over writing a review in this experience. However, this aggression cannot stand, man! I came here with some friends and we brought some out of town visitors. They ordered several appetizers, one of which was an order of bruschetta (bru-sket-tah). Probably one of the most bizarre renditions, as it had prosciutto on it, and the tomato topping was bland. Not to mention the bread was cool and sliced way too thick. Now, on to the pizza. I love a good thin crust pizza, especially when it is well done and crispy. I sent my pie back 2 times and it was too soggy to enjoy, even after all of that. The attentiveness of the staff left a great deal to be desired. Like I mentioned that I had to send my pie back twice. It was after several attempts to try and get anyone's attention that I was able to do so. Apparently, a former employee or a friend of current employees, and the bartender and waitstaff were engaged in a conversation for a considerable amount of time. They didn't even scan the dining room, as other tables were also in need for assistance. The restaurants's cleanliness was substandard. The amount of dust on the fixtures above the dining room tables was one thing, but the dust was so thick on the oven and other kitchen apparatus that it looked like hair or fabric. This is not a good dining atmosphere. Also, the quality of their food offerings is poor. Couple that with a seemingly apathetic staff work ethic, Charred Pie is not what Oro Valley needs. Do yourself a favor, and drive north on Oracle Rd for 9 minutes (5.8 miles) to Catalina Craft Pizza. The pizza and the wings (garlic parmasean or the brushfire dry rub) are far superior and the staff is pretty friendly. read more

I tried this place for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. Everything about it was good. Service was great. Environment was very nice. Prices were good enough for me. The menu had a ton of great sounding options. The pizza we tried was the mexican street corn pie. It was really good. I would say that I can't not return to this place atleast a handful of times, because there are so many great sounding dishes and pies to try on the menu, that I've got to get back here and try some more. It's nice when you unexpectedly find little gems like this place. They're the kind of place that makes me want to go out to eat more often. read more

3 stars for service and appetizers. 4 stars for pizza and atmosphere. The first thing that struck me when I walked in was the wonderful mesquite aroma from the custom wood fired oven. Very cool. And the place is stylish. With a nice open patio outside. For appetizers, the Gochujang wings for $11 were decent, with a bit of crisp on the skin. But pretty dry without the sauce. The gochujang flavor was really good though. The Meatballs ($9) with marinara, reggiano and two small crostini had a decent texture. And marinara was rich and flavorful. But the meet itself was under seasoned and lacked independent flavor. So I probably wouldn't get these again. The pizzas were pretty darn good if you like Neapolitan style pizza. The crust was light and crisp around the edges but pretty soggy in the middle. But I liked the wood-fired flavor. Toppings and sauces were delicious. And the selection is really good, with lots of different options, including vegan and GF. I got the Pepperoni with mozzarella, fontina for $13. And the Black and Blue with mozzarella, fontina, oregano, blue cheese, sausage, and mushroom for $16. Regarding the service, at mid day on a Saturday, there were nearly as many servers as customers, but the service was oddly inattentive. I sat at the bar for a while before anyone really even noticed. Drink glasses tended to stay empty. Food was dropped off without napkins, silverware etc and the server would just drop the order and leave before you could ask for something. Servers were on their phones a lot or chatting amongst themselves in the corner about plans for later. Blah blah blah. No big deal. I wasn't in a rush. But it was a little annoying. Other reviews seem to compliment the service. So maybe today was just a bad day. read more

I've been here several times and it's always very very good! The pizza is tasty and loaded with good toppings. I've had their white sauce pizzas and their red sauce pizza and a couple of different salads. Today I had the lunch special with a house salad and personal size pepperoni pizza. I really like the pepperoni here, it's a bit on the salty side but it's so yummy! Their house salad dressing is an amazing vinaigrette! My friend got the meatballs and then a 1/2 sized caprese, both delicious! Service is always fast and I've always had friendly servers here. The patio overlooks the parking lot which isn't great but I've still always enjoyed sitting in the patio area. It was way too hot to sit outside today though! I had a wild hair to try Charred Pie after years of being aware of its existence and hearing people rave about it... after all, it's practically right in my backyard; I should try it! It was impressive in most areas where it counted, and not impressive in others. Charred Pie is located in a strip mall next to a movie theater, and the inside is about what you'd expect out of a modern eating establishment--deliberately austere and loud, with concrete floors throughout, fairly tacky wall signage, and chipper, yet pretty-obviously insincere, college-aged wait staff. I'll let you decide if that's a plus or not It was a nice day, so I opted to dine outside on the patio. I work 12hr night shifts in the hospital, and had not been out in the sun in quite awhile, so that was quite a treat. Menu had some very creative pizza options. My mom and I both ordered the goat fig, which was absolutely amazing! They also had a nice wine list. The menu has so many options, I think it would be hard to really delve into the entirety of what Charred Pie creates. Things started to go south when it came to our waiter. We only saw him when we ordered drinks and meals. He never checked on us once, and when our food did arrive, a different waiter brought it. We had to ask this different waiter for our drink refills. Where was our waiter the whole time? At the bar playing on his phone. He did show up towards the end when we promptly asked for the check. Would I come back? For the food, yes, but I'm not expecting good service. read more
