The food tastes like the quality you would get at the convenience store. The employees are having to do the work of two people. They don't even have enough time to wipe the tables or sweep the floor. The ambiance is generic. The food served is for people without a palate for flavor and whom don't care about what they eat. I asked an employee what they made per hour and was told 9.00. That could explain one reason for Charlie Joseph's being understaffed. read more

I didn't get melted cheese on my chili dog and I didn't like the taste of the chili. People very kindhearted though! And the vibe is awesome. read more

I love coming here when I visit Lagrange. This is a simple, affordable hot dog/ hamburger old school hole in the wall . You will get excellent service with a smile and most likely will get called honey or baby in a southern accent . It makes me so happy local places like this still exist. Great for families and kids. It's rare to, in this world, eat at restaurant where your great-great-grandparents, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, along with your descendants dined. The longevity says something both about their food and how their customers feel about them. Charlie Joseph's is a special place. The food has not changed for several generations. It beats the heck out of chain restaurants. It is locally owned and operated. The decor in their dining room is a walk through LaGrange's history. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat. As I do not live here, and only had a short time for lunch- I was pleased with my choices. Didn't go with a burger or a hot dog, as much as I wanted to. I ordered a pimiento cheese sandwich on toasted wheat, and a bowl of Brunswick stew with a side of cornbread. First off, the drive thru is set up old school. Simple board, you get to window number one and you order and pay. Drive to the second window and get your food. The gentleman who was at the second window- he was so kind, I wonder if that's the owner. If he isn't, his service is at the same level! I didn't wait to drive back to work. I just parked in the lot (drive thru only) and wolfed down the sandwich. Perfect texture on the toast, the cheese was so good! Homemade, obviously and one thing I'd come back to order with a few crackers and snack on. Toast didn't melt the cheese either. Just a perfect quick bite. The stew was piping hot. Considering it's 85 degrees out, one would think I'd have chosen something less scorching but I can never say no to Brunswick stew. Sadly they must've been out of cornbread because I received oyster crackers, but they were nice to add into the stew. It's hearty and flavorful. I'll be back here to try other things. But I assure you the convenience and safety of operating only the drive thru gives me confidence about their safety and awareness. Support small businesses! read more

Awesome hot dogs! And the atmosphere is amazing!! Great service too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Consistently watched employees making food and taking food outside, going in and out for smoke breaks and to bring orders to people's cars without changing to clean gloves before touching food. Sat for over 45 min observing this behavior from all levels of staff and ownership. Also noticed filth on fast food windows and window seals. Considering employees are touching food with the same gloves as windows and doors this needs to be remedied asap. Otherwise food was tasty and appropriate temperatures and atmosphere is nice. Waitstaff is polite and courteous but does nor follow up with tables for drink refills or to ask if customers need anything g additional. read more

Great food and excellent service every single time. We love seeing everyone's smiling face!

This is the definition of an All-American hot dog and burger joint. I've been coming to Charlie Joseph's all my life, and never get tired of it. The sports memorabilia on the walls, the vintage Coca-Cola signs, the red bar stools and white linoleum are just as present in this sister location as they are in the original building downtown. The great thing about this place is the way they execute two of the most important elements of a restaurant: food and service. The food is always delicious, simple, inexpensive and comes out quickly. There are no frills here; it's mostly traditional variations of your favorite hot dogs and hamburgers that they've been serving since 1920. And for as long as I can remember, the service has always been fast and amazingly friendly. Everyone always seems happy to be at work, and they pass it on to their customers. The Foodie Movement these days often makes burgers and hot dogs more complex. This isn't a bad thing, but if you're looking for delicious simplicity, this is the place to find it. read more

CJ's has been one of my favorite places to eat in LaGrange. I always go with the chili cheese slaw dog all the way. Soooooo good! My wife absolutely loves the homemade Brunswick stew and chili. My kids love the "cut up" cheese dog with ketchup. The dogs and burgers are steamed and perfect in every way. The atmosphere screams of tradition as this place has been a constant for what seems like forever. read more

Great place for a fast lunch. The staff is always friendly and the food is consistently good.

Always incredibly friendly service, and good food for a good price. Both locations have their own merits, and I highly suggest trying both!

If you know you know. Charlie Joseph's is a staple in LaGrange. Has some of the best hot dogs!! I absolutely love the lemon sours too!!

This Charlie Joseph's location is authentic in every way. From the cool vintage Coca Cola collection to the tentative and caring staff. They have easy parking clean bathrooms and tons of tables and sitting areas. Also they have a convenient drive through so you can easily grab your food on the go. The food here is as classic as the decor the burgers are soft and warm and melt in your mouth. The place convenient comfortable delicious and predictable which keeps me coming back. read more

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, clowns and synchronized swimmers: If Steven Spielberg were to do a movie on southern hospitality, small town charm, and include the encyclopedia Britannica's definition on what a delicious hot dog is, he could only film it at Charlie Joseph's. Get yourself a slaw dog, double cheeseburger, and get your kids name written in ketchup. I could be laid up with arthritis in one knee, pneumonia of my left lung, stubbed my pinky toe, and someone telling me I couldn't read good - but if you just utter the name Charlie Joseph's I'll smile like the first time I bit into their cheeseburger. Do yourself a favor and breathe in Americana at this fine, decade's trusted establishment. You make my heart warm Charlie Joseph's. read more

This place was awful. They don't even cook their burgers to order and don't have fries or shakes. I would rather not eat then eat here ever again. Thinking that there was no way their hot dogs could be worse than their burgers, I ordered a kraut dog. Sadly, this hot dog was obviously bottom shelf pork innards bought on presumably a black market from a dirty factory. I thought I liked sour kraut but I was proved wrong with the abhorrent, old pickled crap they slopped on my steam warmed hot dog. This place is garbage and should be closed for fear it brings down the food quality of every others restaurant in existence. read more

Very rude. Won't be back. Last time I was there they did not put a bag of chips in the bag. No big deal I told them that today when I ordered and a man came to the window and was rude about it saying I should have called the day it happened. Placed my order with what I thought was going to be a bag of chips at no charge. When I picked up my order at the next window and about to leave the same man came to the window and said I need to pay for the chips. I did and left. When I got to work and opened the bag there were no chips. It is not the chips or money it is the rudeness I was shown. We usually pick up lunch there 30 + times a year for years now. No more. You can keep my 81 cents. We won't be back. read more

World' Best Hot Dogs is spot on! My favorite hot dog joint...period, paragraph! We eat there 3 our if 4 Saturday's!

They put ketchup on their hotdogs. Every hotdog officiant knows ketchup does not go on hotdogs. So, order with mustard no ketchup and you're fine. Haven't been here in 15 years and it's as good as I remember. Always love adding pimento cheese to my order. The hotdogs are steamed which adds to their taste experience. They sell lots of other stuff too. I noticed the have a scrambled dog on the menu, a salute to lieutenant Stevens at dinglewood pharmacy in Columbus Georgia where it was first created. I would have tried it if I saw it before I ordered. read more

exceptional chili dog here. tomato relish is a spicy surprise which was well received. it's a premium weenie with a nice pop lain in a fresh deep cut bun which allows topping and chili especially to ride the dog well. chili is a hodge lodge of paprika and chili powder that is better on thursday than it is on monday. onions are chopped medium fine and fresh served cold so they are crisp. service is pleasant and agreeable. it's not in your face but it's there if you want to know the way to Cuthbert. pimento cheese looked appealing but we had come for the chili dogs so did not sample. the place is inviting so we are sure to return to sample the hardy brunswick stew and that 'early on a frosty morn look away' pimento cheese. read more

I have been eating at Charlie Josephs for at least 55 yrs. I grew up with the owner and I can say the menu is pretty much the same since I was a child. I have resided in Lagrange, Ga my whole life and I can not say that I've ever met someone who can't stand CJ's. This restaurant has been family operated for generations and I think at the rate they are moving they'll be open for many more generations to come. They have managed to make the simplest dishes into something so indulging and superb. Its a great environment for children. The staff is extremely friendly and loves to socialize and create relationships with you and your children. Every time you walk in you feel like your part of their family, and that is a quality that some businesses can't seem achieve anymore. read more

You can't come to LaGrange without eating in at Charlie Joseph's! If you love to try local food, this is the place!

I was only in town for the weekend and decided to try out Charlie Joseph's because I love diner type places. The décor lives up to the hype, I love the charming 50's family atmosphere. I tried a hot dog and the chili burger. They aren't very big, you could easily eat several but they are good and the price is right if you want to eat more! I wish they had French fries instead of chips and maybe ice cream instead of cookies but the service was great and the food they did have was excellent. read more
