So having to come out to San Marcos and Escondido has been what I've had to do to get my fix. It's newer, nicer, cleaner than most locations and the service is actually friendly. Probably the fastest online ordering I've seen anywhere. Literally 3 minutes from when I placed the order, walked in the door and my soda was ready, just waiting on ripping hot fries which came 90 seconds later and they warned me about how hot they were. Of course I didn't wait because I had my arbys sauce waiting to cool it off enough to eat. Let it sit there for 3-4 seconds rather than a quick dunk before eating and it's cool enough. Like all Arbys they have great lighting from tons of windows and a less cramped drive thru than most. They seem to be heavier handed with the meats than other locations and they are the only national ff chain that has cooper sharp, which any Philly Cheesesteak fan knows well. I usually order my 5lb bricks online, but if I just need some of that tang I'll come here. Prices are inflating, as are all fast food, but like everyone else they have rewards. I just don't like how their rewards expire quickly. Often times being available less than a week. I feel less bloated and gross with their fries than from other curly fries. Their cheesesteak is the best of any fast food chain and even better than some restaurants. I'd say it's the 5th best cheesesteak in San DIego. I love how soft their buns are and their rolls have chew and are seeded. Their soda fountains always hit and are never out or low. This location is just outside of most of the transient populations that congregate nearby so walking here isn't bad at all.

When I was younger, I worked nearby so I was there often. But then the Arby's closed, and then reappeared on the opposite side of town. And now it's in a different location a few miles from where it had been. I like the new choices that they've added to the menu. I never was a fan of the roast beef because it was so processed. I prefer things like tri-tip. My go-to in the old days was the chicken strips. These days I buy the reuben, fish sandwich, and the limited items. I also love the potato cakes and mozzarella sticks as sides. The app has some great deals, and I usually place my order to go in the app so it's ready when I arrive. I'm always getting it to go on my way to work or errands. Getting in and out of the shopping center can be a little challenging, but it's near Center City Parkway and the 15 and 78 freeways. That means it's an easy stop on your way to somewhere else.

A review of Farmer Boys is long overdue…read more This Farmer Boys location has become a takeout go-to for me. It's the killer combo of their app & the drive-thru that makes the whole process such a breeze. The order is usually their Farmer's Chopped Cobb™ Salad. Place the order on the app. It's ready as soon as 15 minutes. Go to the drive-thru to pick it up. No need to even get out of the car. It has always been service with a smile at the drive-thru window. Simple, no fuss. I'm not at all specifically a salad person. But they just get it right with their Farmer's Chopped Cobb™ Salad. For an impromptu weekday meal, it's also less guilt-inducing than many other takeout options. This review was long overdue, but it won't be long before I'm back here for more takeout.

I come from time to time, if for nothing else than to keep my rewards active so I get my free birthday burger. I love their fries especially, and sometimes upgrade to the sweet potato fries. The fact that they're bottomless is an extra bonus too. I sometimes eat half the burger and take the leftovers home for another meal. I have tried other items like the Ensenada chicken platter, onion rings, etc. I haven't tried the new pizza yet. I'm usually there for a burger. I love coming for my free birthday burger, and they usually give me a free little ice cream sundae as well. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. And the decor is fun, which is one of the things that they're known for. Parking is easier now that Sears is no longer in business.

I've been a fan since 2016 when I was eating there on the east coast and to me it was my place before Jersey Mike's exploded. They seem to be faster on the online ordering when it's busy than when it's slow. It seems like it's a centrally located store, but it's actually tucked away and not as easy to get to as other nearby FF spots. Fresh vegetable toppings, clean and crisp meats and flavors they aren't as heavy on dressings and sauces as other chains and I actually like how they do a more firehouse toasted subs style rather than just meat on the flat top. Stick with their classics, the chain isn't as good as others when it comes to new or niche flavors. I really miss the days when the chain was open late night.

Is there new ownership?…read more I haven't been to this location in several years. No reason other than circumstance. But today I was craving a Cali sub. I went in around 3 p.m. on a Saturday. There wasn't a customer to be found. The place was hot and uncomfortable. Granted, these things do happen so I can't blame the business entirely. I know times are hard. Heaven knows I'm on a budget like everyone else. But when I saw $13.99 for a regular sub (6 inches), I nearly turned around and left. But, again, the craving. So I sprung for a medium (9 inches) and forked over $18.99 plus tax. Even now, as I relax from having eaten, it's annoying to think there's a $20 bill sitting at the bottom of my stomach. I don't know...I didn't feel like I was getting any kind of experience. In the past, Bridgette (the owner, at least years ago) was always so jovial and friendly. While she made your sandwich she would ask about your day and how things were going. The gentleman who helped me was nice enough, but he wasn't entirely forthcoming. And he was wearing sandals which, having worked in the food industry for many years, is a huge no-no. My sandwich was good. It wasn't stellar. I enjoyed it. But it didn't hit the spot. The meat was sliced in four really thick slices; it wasn't "fluffed," the way they used to do. The toppings were fine enough. Again, it was good, but nothing to write home about. I'll give it another couple years before I go back.
