I'm not insane, so I wasn't partaking in the tubing, but I did spend the day on a boat in Lake Charlevoix. While you won't have access to lake michigan when renting a boat, there is SO much good to see around Lake Charlevoix. Apparently every multi-millionaire has a mansion and massive yacht around the lake. I have never seen so many high-dollar homes in one place. Truly, stunning (and kind of gross to see all the wealth too!). I could have spent days out on the water. With a cool breeze and a hoodie on, I was living my best life. Pickup and dropoff at the Ward Bros dock was super easy. If you have time to while in Charlevoix, I would definitely recommend renting a boat and spending some time out on the water. This experience was EXACTLY what I needed.

The boat's engine failed on the water, leaving us drifting into a rocky shoreline in dangerous, choppy conditions. Neighbors ran down to help, children were crying, and several people were injured. The company told us not to call the Coast Guard (others did anyway) and promised help--but instead sent two men in a truck who could only take three people, stranding the rest of us with small children and no keys or phones. When we finally got back, the owner was rude, blamed us, insisted his boats never fail, and tried to charge us the full rental plus $2,000 for damages--on the boat that had broken down. Check the Google reviews before booking--this isn't the first time this has happened. Spend your money elsewhere.

We…read morerecently were visiting Charlevoix & on the cruise up from Grand Haven our port K-plane hydraulic cylinder broke a stainless retaining ring, causing the port plane to malfunction. We were at Irish @ 8am on Monday morning asking for help. They got us in for service immediately; they removed the cylinder & sent it to a local hydraulic shop for rebuild, secured the plane so we could still stay on the boat, and re-installed the cylinder on Thursday morning. They saved our vacation. Courteous, prompt, professional, and fair about their pricing. We were literally captive customers and the repair bill was far less than it could have been had they decided to take advantage of our dilemma. Thanks Irish !!

The quality of equipment, the correct fitting and the wonderful service keeps bringing us back. This year we had a problem when on our second day of skiing. Our granddaughter hurt her arm late in the day to the extent that the ski patrol snowmobiled her down the hill and we ran her to Spectrum hospital. In the chaos of getting her down the hill and to the hospital we left some rental equipment at Nubs. Bahnhoffs only concern was with the health of my granddaughter, not with the rentals. They showed complete understanding and compassion for the situation. End result, we lost a helmet and set of poles. Their equipment was the least of Bahnhoff's concern. The inspection cost $323 but they provided no useful repair suggestions. Then in late June the harbormaster called me to tell me that the boat had and alarm sounding. I told him that I had a service call and that the technician must have left the battery switch on. He agreed to turn it off. On the fourth of July I attempted to take my family for a cruise but both batteries were totally dead. I had to scramble to purchase a battery charger and plug adapter for $185. Two days later the boat was finally on line. I visited the service manager and requested that he reimburse me for the charger and adapter. He said that he would "make it right" and he would get back to me. Five days later and two unreturned phone calls he finally told me that I probably needed a charger anyway (not true) and he would not purchase it from me. Then he said that there should have been an additional $50 charge but he would waive the extra charge. Overall I was extremely disappointed with the way I was treated.

I just purchased a boat whom had it serviced by Dry Harbor. Holy crap, the prices that was charged…read morefor the very low quality workmanship. After I ran the boat to my home port, I noticed I was running out of fuel in my starboard tank. The port tank was 1/2 full. After I ran the numbers, I should be just below 1/2 tank. I stopped at Washington Island and paid 6.49 per gallon, so I took on 40 gallons (20 Per side) and that got me to my home port without any issues. I tapped on the tanks and felt I had about 10" on both sides. That would be about 35 to 40%. - The gauge on the starboard read 11%. I took picture to compare as the Starboard sensor was recently replaced. They installed the incorrect sensor. The old owner had purchased sensor however did not have the time to install and hired Dry Harbor. He was told he had the incorrect ones and they obtained it. They were wrong and the my guy was correct. The correct one is a KUS SSL-25 (25") 001306k They installed an aftermarket 23" from summit racing #226-660 2111010113. (The ohm readings are not even similar.) He paid to replace it twice now. He had an issue with the generator studdering and popping. Hired them to look at it. They ran test and stated it was fine. On my demo ride, it was running like crap. Same issue. My broker suggested to have them reduce the boat price by 500 bucks and I to take care of. Heck, 2-hours later, 2-Spark plugs and fuel filter, it ran awesome. Simple fix by any person. He had several issues, mostly with lack of attention to detail. - Looks horrible. I'll ix in the off-season. In my opinion, the price rate you pay for quality mechanics should not get this UN-qualified service and lack of detail. You are not able to trust this place. Likewise, most marina's are the same. It is too bad the industry has taken this approach. Good thing I know how to work on my own stuff.
