They turned a new customer into a "NEVER!" customer in under 24 hours. Placed an order last evening for 6 shirts, less than $300. Wake up to an email that they can't "fully verify" the order - call them. How annoying - this isn't exactly ordering 10 iPhones - but whatever. Call them, same questions over and over and over - what's your name, what's the name on the card, what's your address, what's the address linked to your card, same combination of questions in different orders. (Name and address on the order and on the card are exactly the same.) They have to research further. Get another email a couple hours later. I have to call my card issuer to get some verification code. (I thought I used my AMEX and gave them that info on the phone - apparently I used a VISA. The only way I knew to double check is they specifically said to get the "VISA verification code" when I called Chase. The could have just said, "we show you used a VISA" when I called them the first time since it obviously isn't super secret proprietary information as they included it on this last email. Anyway, I'm not spending another minute on this absolute nonsense! All they have to do is call VISA/Chase and verify that the billing AND shipping name/address on the order are EXACTLY the same as on the card account. They act like they have some monopoly on shirts I suppose. PRO TIP FOR CT: YOU ARE NOT AND HAVE LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE! read more

I have bought many dress shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt and always told myself to never purchase the shirts again. Why? When I get home I discover there is no breast pocket, on any of them. This was my chat with a Customer Service Rep from the Merchant. Read the chat on the attached photos and then read below. Over all bad quality and bad policy on return/exchange especially when there is a defect. If I were to reply back to her which I couldn't because she closed it I would say: Tracy, again that is RIDICULOUS. I took it to the store they didn't bother telling me what you told me and just took it and threw it away, because it's unusable and obviously defected. Also, Brooks Brothers and Banana Republic would take it back NO QUESTION, no "Take a photo and send it so we can liaise with out quality control team" Also exactly what you said the defects would show up within a 6 month period, I tried to explain to the gentleman that I bought the shirt in April and haven't worn it through the hot months. So The defect did reveal it self after 3 months of actually wearing the shirt. Anyone reading this BAD QUALITY, poor return policy. There really is a difference at this location. Great service and professionalism once again by the crew at this downtown / FiDi / WTC location, unlike the pompous staff at the Midtown location where they had a pompous attitude. It turns out the 3 shirts I bought from here fit loosely on me. I went into the store and was helped by a very polite, courteous and professional employee named John. He helped me exchange my shirts for the correct size smoothly with a seamless transition. I highly recommend this particular location. read more

Worst customer service ever. Came here with my BF for him to exchange his work shirts he ordered online and to get sized. The woman that helped him pretty much measured his arm and neck and gave him a few shirts to try (which clearly did not fit him just by looking at the shirts) and basically left him to figure it out. I used to be a huge fan of Charles Tyrwhitt but I will never shop there again! They are such a scam! They secretly instituted a new policy earlier this year that they will charge a "$6 restocking fee" for every item you try to return for a refund (in store or online - doesn't matter). After purchasing 6 some items like I have in the past, and attempting to return 2 immediately after I received it, I learned that there was a new restocking fee. Unlike other companies who have changed return policies, CT made no effort to email existing customers to inform them of the change, and hid it on their website at the bottom of their FAQ with an asterisk. To make matters worse, after I contacted them for support, they made no apologies as to the new policy, and when I asked why they did not send an email to existing customers, the response was, "it was a business decision. We did not need to send an email". I will never shop Charles Tyrwhitt again. read more

Skip a visit to the store unless you want to try a shirt before you order online. Their selection is very limited compared to online and the workers have no idea what they're selling. I asked what material a specific shirt was and they had no clue. Poplin, herringbone, twill, royal oxford? How do you not know the basics? Shop online, return the items here. read more

Stopped in the store - the gentleman Christian measured me and had me try on a few different fits according to body shape and neck. When I got out of the dressing room, he had already pulled some options out for me that he thought I may like. A few colors were out of stock so he pulled them offline and had them sent directly to my home. Great experience and Christian couldn't have been more helpful. read more

Came here twice with my boyfriend to get his suit tailored and then to come pick it up. Both times were excellent service where the workers were very attentive and allowed my boyfriend to try on as many dress shirts as possible before narrowing down his choices. Terrible customer service, and return policy. Downtown location poorly managed. DO NOT buy dress pants or suits from this store, do yourself a favor and go to Hugo Boss or smth...their pants are equally priced anyhow and they don't tell you they don't do returns. I've been a customer for over 3 years, all my shirts are from CT, always shopping from the midtown location always great experience. I went to the store downtown to buy new dress pants. I try one on, fits perfectly. I pick two more colors, the sales associate tells me no reason to try them they fit exactly the same. I trust him since he works there so probably he knows smth...nope! Package arrives, after two weeks since they shipped them right after i called to ask for an update (probably they had forgotten about it) but anyhow no worries, this wasn't a big issue. I try them on...one pair fits perfect, other two look like girl pants and I wasn't even able to button them...yes, clearly they were NOT the same cut! I go to return the 2 pairs that don't fit and the first thing the sales associate says is "Oh you can't return dress pants, I'm sorry there's nothing I can do". After arguing with him for a good 10 mins he suggested to alter the waist. Terrible customer service, terrible overall experience at this location, shut down this store or change management. read more

Let me just start by saying the manager Chris has no fucken clue what he is doing. I can't even begin to get into how stupid they are in there. Manager doesn't know how to measure suits.... leaves you hanging for months, leaves for vacation with problem still not rectified. The big bosses on 7th expect you to come all the way into midtown to try to fix what should have never been an issue in the first place. Don't bother. These are the only dress shirts I own (I own about 20) and this particular store is the best in the city as far as I'm concerned. It's a little bigger than the other stores and much cleaner and better laid out. It seems like they have a larger selection as well. Unlike the other stores the shirts seem to always be in the right spot. The staff is nice but at this point I just know my size and grab some shirts. As an FYI, there are 'try on' shirts. You don't try on the shirt you are going to buy. They all fit the same so once you find the right size and trim you are good to go. read more

It's been three years since I bought this suit. It is starting to show signs of wear sooner than I hoped. The fabric has started to bubble a little. I understand this to mean that the suit is literally coming unglued. When I replace this suit, which will be soon, I'm going to make sure I avoid a fused suit. I've also switched to a different brand of shirt; more expensive, but a lot less ironing. CT isn't bad for the price, but you get what you pay for. read more

This was my first time entering a CT store in-person, and I had an exceptional customer experience. I had heard of CT word-of-mouth by friends and coworkers. I also received a coupon in the mail for a special promotion (3 shirts for $100). When I went into this store for the first time, I forgot I ever received the coupon. I purchased 6 shirts at the standard pricing (4 for $200, + an additional 2 at the same price), brought me to a $300 total. Thought it was a good value. When I got home, I realized I had a coupon for 3 / $100. I called back the next day and the store manager, Gene, was extremely accommodating. In one fell swoop, Gene honored the coupon, refunded me $100, and swapped out some french cuffs for a button cuffs (all retroactively, for my mistake / forgetfulness). I very much appreciated this level of no-questions customer service. I'll be sure to patronize this store in the future and pass my positive experience on to others. read more

Incredible customer service and assistance. High quality products which make the price worthwhile, while other companies products may be cheaper, they certainly won't feel the same and last as long. I went for a 3 piece suit for my wedding, shirts, ties and cuff links and am beyond satisfied with the overall process and interactions with the staff.
